00:00:39.790 --> 00:00:43.783
Hey sister, welcome to the Power On Plants podcast.

00:00:43.783 --> 00:00:49.103
Are you tired of staring into the fridge wondering what to eat so you can just feel better?

00:00:49.103 --> 00:00:54.503
Do you want to avoid spending hours in the kitchen making complicated meals in the name of health?

00:00:54.503 --> 00:01:00.783
Would you love to leave fatigue behind and finally have the energy to do all the things you want to do?

00:01:00.783 --> 00:01:08.447
Hi, we're Jared and I need to resell Christ followers, healthcare professionals, parents of four and big fans of great tasting food.

00:01:08.447 --> 00:01:20.649
We, too, tried exercising more, eating natural and clean foods, but we still found ourselves struggling with what we thought were changes that come with age or bad genes, and we weren't finding answers to traditional routes.

00:01:20.649 --> 00:01:27.870
So we dug into the research and created our secret nutritional weapon sustainable plant-based living.

00:01:27.870 --> 00:01:31.668
The truth is, you can eat more whole plant foods and it's not hard.

00:01:31.668 --> 00:01:36.828
You just need the way that's realistic and delicious so you never feel deprived.

00:01:36.828 --> 00:01:45.075
If you're ready to enjoy your meals, no longer be held back by your health struggles and actively live your life, then you're in the right place.

00:01:45.075 --> 00:01:50.350
So grab your favorite plant-based cup of happy pop in those earbuds and let's get started.

00:01:50.350 --> 00:01:55.286
Hey friend, we are so excited to have you joining us today.

00:01:55.286 --> 00:02:01.331
Now, in the beginning of this episode, I've told you a little bit about the amazing woman that we have visiting with us today.

00:02:01.331 --> 00:02:03.501
We are so excited to be hanging out with her.

00:02:03.501 --> 00:02:14.431
Her name is Christy and she is going to give you the inside scoop on what it's like behind the scenes inside our group coaching and mastermind program Power on Plant Society.

00:02:14.431 --> 00:02:18.528
Christy, we are so happy to be visiting with you today.

00:02:18.528 --> 00:02:19.693
How are you doing?

00:02:20.114 --> 00:02:21.377
I'm doing great you guys.

00:02:21.377 --> 00:02:23.062
It's awesome to spend the morning with you.

00:02:23.704 --> 00:02:31.049
Good, we are so thankful to have you inside our community, and would you just start by telling us a little bit about yourself?

00:02:31.730 --> 00:02:54.371
Sure, I am married to my best friend, matt, and we have two kitties and we both work from home, so we get to spend a lot of time together and he is joining me to the best of his interest on my plant-based journey, so I'm kind of glad that he does have an interest in that we can do some of this together.

00:02:54.371 --> 00:02:56.840
Yes, that is fantastic.

00:02:57.020 --> 00:03:07.074
I love that you have that support from him too, even if he's not doing 100%, because you know we talk about how even just those small changes can make all the difference.

00:03:07.074 --> 00:03:13.139
It really can, just one step at a time, and what we find is a lot of times they get more excited about it.

00:03:13.139 --> 00:03:16.651
You know a spouse or friends around you because they're interested in what you're doing.

00:03:16.651 --> 00:03:21.530
They see those changes that you're making Indeed, yeah.

00:03:21.530 --> 00:03:25.842
So tell me, let's start at the very beginning of our journey together.

00:03:25.842 --> 00:03:30.453
How did you first learn about us or come to know about power on plants?

00:03:31.695 --> 00:03:36.407
I think the very, very first time I know it was through the podcast.

00:03:36.407 --> 00:03:45.794
I believe I was searching my podcast app for plant based podcasts and you guys were there.

00:03:45.794 --> 00:04:01.775
So there are a handful that I downloaded, but really you guys were the only one that I followed your conversational style, your information, everything just really fit with my interest and how I like to spend a half hour of my time.

00:04:01.775 --> 00:04:07.407
I got so much value out of it so that was my first introduction, thank you.

00:04:07.949 --> 00:04:16.281
Well, what led you to the point of getting to the place where you were sitting at your computer or your phone typing in plant-based podcast?

00:04:16.281 --> 00:04:18.747
What made you do that initially?

00:04:18.747 --> 00:04:21.252
What was your story that led you to that place?

00:04:22.360 --> 00:04:23.303
About starting.

00:04:23.303 --> 00:04:34.562
Probably about 12, 15 years ago I first started getting into the plant-based community and kind of been one foot in, one foot out, one foot in, one foot out for a number of years.

00:04:34.562 --> 00:04:53.521
Finally, I just knew through some various health stuff that no one can figure out or want to deal with, for that matter, around here, that I needed to do something for myself, and I've always known plant-based was the solution because I've gotten results in the past from other health related issues.

00:04:53.521 --> 00:05:07.661
So I just got to a point where I said, all right, I'm doing this myself, I've got to get reeducated, just kind of get remotivated and refocused, and then kind of sparked my most recent decision.

00:05:08.464 --> 00:05:17.831
Okay, so I know you said you were one foot in and one foot out for a while and you tried it for years, so why do you think it didn't stick before?

00:05:18.333 --> 00:05:19.295
Definitely support.

00:05:19.295 --> 00:05:34.319
When I was around like-minded people and I had people in my life who not only ate the same way but even supported it, even if I didn't, that made a huge difference for me because it was a no-brainer.

00:05:34.319 --> 00:05:38.810
It's kind of like okay, you live with someone else who eats, you just buy the same thing, you eat the same things.

00:05:38.810 --> 00:05:41.266
You don't really have to think about it.

00:05:41.266 --> 00:05:42.528
To be honest, you just do it.

00:05:42.528 --> 00:06:02.502
And so when your life changes and people aren't in your life anymore, that are the core of that support, and everyone else who is still there is just like almost not necessarily mocking but on the verge of poking fun of like ew, what's that?

00:06:02.502 --> 00:06:03.444
Tofu stuff.

00:06:03.444 --> 00:06:07.033
And no, I don't want to try it and it's a very negative.

00:06:07.033 --> 00:06:14.790
And then you get all the questions that I know we've talked about in the community before, like where do you get your protein and how are you doing this and are you getting all of your stuff?

00:06:14.790 --> 00:06:17.951
And we're really worried about you and you need to eat healthy.

00:06:17.951 --> 00:06:32.062
And when you try to explain about the fact you're eating real whole foods and they haven't been modified, they don't have extra ingredients in them, they are not chemically produced and things like that, it's just a big disconnect.

00:06:32.062 --> 00:06:44.067
So when you find yourself at a place where you need that support, you got to find it somewhere if you're determined to stay on it, I think especially at the beginning until you grow some really strong roots for yourself.

00:06:45.351 --> 00:06:53.122
So you were to how are you doing it differently before you hadn't you felt you're saying that you didn't have the support that you felt like you needed.

00:06:53.122 --> 00:06:58.862
So were you just trying to figure it out online through YouTube videos, or what were you doing that?

00:06:59.223 --> 00:07:06.526
I had learned a lot the first time when I went plant based when, I lived in a different state and I was previously married.

00:07:06.526 --> 00:07:19.699
We he had been a former chef, so it was just like our house was like a really let's experiment, let's make it complicated, gastronomy kind of stuff, and it was just like exhausting but fun.

00:07:19.699 --> 00:07:25.120
I'm a learner and a seeker and so I just really absorb everything.

00:07:25.120 --> 00:07:30.182
And I'm at a place where I am now where I'm like that's just all too complicated.

00:07:30.182 --> 00:07:37.661
Now I just want simple, I want it easy to do, I want it easy so my husband now can say okay, if you're not feeling well, I can step into the gap.

00:07:37.661 --> 00:07:43.630
And so there was a big change from my, I guess, my mission of learning plant based.

00:07:43.630 --> 00:07:49.059
Before it was fun and new and experimental, now I just need it to be realistic and do Right.

00:07:50.451 --> 00:07:51.394
I'm all about it.

00:07:51.394 --> 00:07:53.096
You know, we're both all about that.

00:07:53.096 --> 00:07:55.538
Yeah, it's got to be realistic and doable.

00:07:55.538 --> 00:08:10.853
So do you think that was the reason, even though it was fun and even though you enjoyed being in the kitchen just I know the support was huge for you, cause we always talk about environment is so big but do you think part of it too is just maybe the overwhelm it, even though you were enjoying it?

00:08:10.853 --> 00:08:13.500
It took a lot of time and effort.

00:08:13.961 --> 00:08:19.697
Right, I mean, even when I was on my own for a little while, I'd come home from work and I never had anything non-plant based.

00:08:19.697 --> 00:08:22.836
I didn't have condiments in my house, I just had plant food.

00:08:22.836 --> 00:08:34.096
And I mean I would spend gladly two hours after work Doing stuff, prepping for the next day, making my meal for that night, and it was exhausting.

00:08:34.096 --> 00:08:41.041
I wanted to eat that way, but then I would just do that at home and then if I went to other people's house, I was not discriminant about what I ate.

00:08:41.041 --> 00:08:44.322
If I went out with a company that I worked for.

00:08:44.322 --> 00:08:50.490
I just said, whatever's there, I'll just kind of do my norm, the old normal, and then I'll do my plant based at home.

00:08:50.490 --> 00:09:04.320
And so that was kind of where I had my foot in both worlds at one time and there really wasn't much of a benefit because one greatly offset the other and sadly enough you know it would didn't do much of the other stuff to keep you stagnant with your health and your weight goals.

00:09:05.171 --> 00:09:06.296
Yeah, absolutely.

00:09:06.296 --> 00:09:12.438
I remember Jared and I were out one time when we've heard this multiple time people spending hours and hours in the kitchen.

00:09:12.438 --> 00:09:16.913
When we started this, that was not going to work for us, A family.

00:09:16.932 --> 00:09:19.990
they spent two hours every day prepping and in the kitchen.

00:09:20.350 --> 00:09:24.479
Easy to do, yeah, I mean, and they will tell us it can never work for me.

00:09:24.479 --> 00:09:25.893
Plant based could never work for me.

00:09:25.893 --> 00:09:32.801
It would be too overwhelming, I couldn't find the stuff, it would take me forever in the kitchen and it's just too complicated.

00:09:32.801 --> 00:09:38.221
So what do you think about this way of living in the power on plants way that you've learned?

00:09:38.221 --> 00:09:49.529
What do you think about that compared to not just what you were doing previously plant based but other ways, like the traditional ways that you used to cook before you went plant based?

00:09:49.529 --> 00:09:50.654
How would you compare it?

00:09:51.253 --> 00:09:59.927
Oh, definitely, first and foremost thing that comes to my mind is cleaner, but not just like the food itself, the mess that's left behind.

00:09:59.927 --> 00:10:05.327
Right, and I tell you, I used to hate touching meat growing up, but you know we cooked it Right.

00:10:05.327 --> 00:10:09.322
Yeah, splatters everywhere, you got grease on the stove Grease up here.

00:10:09.322 --> 00:10:30.309
It leaves a smell in the house Like you have to go around and clean your house after you fix your food, and so not only is the food itself clean for your body and your health there, what's left behind is you take a paper towel, even if that will wipe something up, and throw it away or a rag spray down Like it's so easy.

00:10:30.309 --> 00:10:38.816
I mean, you don't even it's not disinfecting like before you had like raw meat juice drip and somewhere and that kind of stuff just really.

00:10:38.816 --> 00:10:42.590
Even though I ate it back then, it's always been kind of gross.

00:10:42.590 --> 00:10:49.441
So the first thing is that it's a lot cleaner, but the second is it's a lot simpler.

00:10:49.441 --> 00:10:54.889
And I know we talk about it all the time to keep it simple, and that is so true.

00:10:54.889 --> 00:11:06.524
And with the recipes you guys have in the cookbook, it really helps me stay focused on that, because I tend to having come from a more complex way of trying to put a meal together.

00:11:06.524 --> 00:11:11.461
My brain kind of defaults to that, because that's what I first learned.

00:11:11.461 --> 00:11:27.265
And so kind of breaking some of those old habits and thinking, okay, I recognize, this is getting a little out of hand, and then I can kind of centralize my focus on something from the cookbook and once I know a base and I know we talk about this too.

00:11:27.265 --> 00:11:31.230
Once you know a base of how something is made, it's endless what you can do with it.

00:11:31.230 --> 00:11:38.548
And the same concept in traditional cooking is like once you know what you know how to make a roux, you can make a gravy, a sauce and all these other kind of things.

00:11:38.548 --> 00:11:44.349
And once you know the basis basically, I call it the mathematical or the chemical formula to make something.

00:11:44.349 --> 00:11:49.467
Alterations are just up to your own imagination, right?

00:11:49.467 --> 00:11:49.970
Absolutely yeah.

00:11:50.554 --> 00:11:52.129
So did you have the cookbook?

00:11:52.129 --> 00:11:56.350
I don't remember if you had the cookbook, the bundle, before you came into the membership.

00:11:57.679 --> 00:12:01.528
I believe I did, but not by very long, just a couple months maybe.

00:12:01.528 --> 00:12:14.778
The very first thing that we did was the Alfredo sauce and because I know my husband loves pasta, right, I'm a former cheese girl, just like you, so I'm like we got to try this right, and it was absolutely fantastic.

00:12:14.778 --> 00:12:15.945
It was easy to make.

00:12:15.945 --> 00:12:20.149
Yay, I had everything, and I was, and that's another thing I like about the cookbook.

00:12:20.149 --> 00:12:24.929
The stuff is so like this is the stuff I have in my house.

00:12:24.929 --> 00:12:38.645
I can almost always find everything I need to make any of the recipes, maybe sub out a vegetable if I happen to not have something, but the core, like spices and herbs and stuff like that, I have those things and I love that.

00:12:38.645 --> 00:12:49.100
I don't have to go searching for some bizarre, you know like, you know like hard to find, rare ingredient that you can only find at one health food store in the state.

00:12:49.100 --> 00:13:00.942
You know what I mean, right, it's like everyday stuff and that just really helps also to keep it simple, because I can just open my pantry, open my freezer, open my fridge Everything's there.

00:13:01.283 --> 00:13:14.917
Yeah, and now that you're inside the community and we release the new recipes that come out, have you noticed any difference to even with the cookbook bundle recipes that you have, because we have all of those recipes in there plus the extras?

00:13:14.917 --> 00:13:24.119
Do you notice any difference in before you came into the membership versus now being inside the membership when you're trying a new recipe?

00:13:24.119 --> 00:13:29.380
Is there anything beneficial for you in the membership when you're trying them out?

00:13:29.380 --> 00:13:32.719
Because I noticed something that you're doing inside the membership.

00:13:32.719 --> 00:13:33.653
That's why I'm asking.

00:13:33.653 --> 00:13:39.361
I feel like that may be a big key for people to get results like you're getting.

00:13:39.361 --> 00:13:42.857
Share, share share, share and share.

00:13:42.857 --> 00:13:50.400
Yeah, yeah, but that must take you a long time, like you probably have to spend a long time in the membership to be able to share like that.

00:13:50.669 --> 00:13:53.014
You would think so, but not the case.

00:13:53.014 --> 00:14:05.337
This is what I like about it being so different of an environment from even though it has the look and maybe a feel of, some familiar social media stuff it doesn't like.

00:14:05.337 --> 00:14:11.176
It's not like you got to be in there a million times to talk to your people.

00:14:11.176 --> 00:14:11.837
You know what I mean.

00:14:11.837 --> 00:14:19.239
So we have our pop's family or power on the society family and we have people in there all the time.

00:14:19.239 --> 00:14:23.475
You don't have to necessarily be online to get all the things your notifications come through.

00:14:23.475 --> 00:14:51.230
We can see when people post things easily and there's not like this incessant need to be on it obsessively and you can quickly upload through the app or through the website on desktop on your phone, like everything is so easy to just pop up a picture and, like you say, it doesn't have to be perfect or it doesn't have to be pretty, and thank goodness, because mine is just sitting at my dining room table, here's what I'm eating right now and this is the way it really looks when I eat it, and I did not do anything special to it.

00:14:51.230 --> 00:14:52.989
And people get the gist.

00:14:52.989 --> 00:15:04.149
You know you have the Paprika application that you can also incorporate, which I've been trying to learn how to do, and so you can share your recipe if you wanted to, and it's already ready to go.

00:15:04.149 --> 00:15:13.033
So you just download the recipe file that somebody puts up there, or the PDF, and that can't be any easier and then it's already loaded into your program.

00:15:13.033 --> 00:15:15.272
So you literally press a button and it's done for you.

00:15:15.272 --> 00:15:24.078
So I mean, honestly, this is like the easiest structured environment that you could possibly do and it doesn't have to take up your day.

00:15:24.078 --> 00:15:30.357
I'm probably on it a little more because I am home based, but I mean even then.

00:15:30.357 --> 00:15:38.113
I mean people pop in regularly and you know you don't have to be on long to make a big impact Like here's what I ate and here's how I did something new.

00:15:38.113 --> 00:15:50.611
And then you know you have a whole response from other people in the community and it's like this is great on our own time, we're learning new things, we're learning tips and tricks and we're helping others.

00:15:50.611 --> 00:15:54.893
And it's awesome we can all learn from each other in a short amount of time.

00:15:55.586 --> 00:16:03.778
Yeah, we were so intentional when we set up the community to make it super simple for everybody, because we know time is valuable.

00:16:03.778 --> 00:16:06.908
I mean, that's one of the reasons we're all doing this we want to get our time back.

00:16:06.908 --> 00:16:19.976
But we want to get our lives back and have that really good quality of life, and having this group of believers to be in there together with and support each other and pray for each other and build each other up is just so amazing.

00:16:20.565 --> 00:16:26.250
So one, two, though if it's too complicated it raises that barrier, like I could take a quick picture.

00:16:26.250 --> 00:16:29.924
But then I got to go through this step and that step and that step, like I'll do it tomorrow.

00:16:29.924 --> 00:16:33.943
Whereas if you just load it, hey, click, and that's what I ate.

00:16:33.943 --> 00:16:35.392
And this is what I did to it.

00:16:35.914 --> 00:16:45.912
It's easy, it's the difference in real I mean, you've got something that's real versus where you're trying to make people think a certain thing and you reach an environment.

00:16:45.912 --> 00:16:52.514
And you find an environment where, hey, I can actually be myself and not worry about being judged here and just write it out.

00:16:52.533 --> 00:16:54.336
Right, I want you to be yourself.

00:16:54.336 --> 00:16:57.951
Yeah, I mean because we were ourselves when we were there.

00:16:58.251 --> 00:16:59.195
Yeah, it's so important.

00:16:59.195 --> 00:17:03.495
Getting off social media and not having it on a social media platform for us was huge.

00:17:03.495 --> 00:17:05.912
Also, setting up the search function.

00:17:05.912 --> 00:17:07.968
The search function on there for you.

00:17:07.988 --> 00:17:09.631
Yes, have you been able to use it?

00:17:09.631 --> 00:17:10.311
That has been awesome.

00:17:10.311 --> 00:17:17.626
Yeah, oh yeah, I was just using it yesterday, actually, and for a particular topic I was curious about, and I didn't notice.

00:17:17.626 --> 00:17:29.537
There was only one result and it was a brief little mention in one of, and I believe, the July, june or it was the June live thing, and so I was like In the coaching, yes, in the great coaching, mentally meeting.

00:17:29.837 --> 00:17:30.878
Okay, so you.

00:17:31.984 --> 00:17:39.654
And so I was like I might have to like put this out there as another topic to delve a little deeper into, because it's something that like I would be.

00:17:39.654 --> 00:17:43.073
We love that and learning a little more on how to manage.

00:17:43.073 --> 00:17:46.595
But yeah, it was neat because I didn't think I'd get any hits.

00:17:46.595 --> 00:17:50.713
And I did get a hit so I was like, sweet, that was success Okay.

00:17:51.105 --> 00:17:52.791
So I love this so much.

00:17:52.791 --> 00:17:53.887
So you were.

00:17:53.887 --> 00:17:58.933
We have the two parts to the community, so you have access to the community space where we all talk.

00:17:58.933 --> 00:18:03.272
It's kind of like a Facebook group, but not you know it's so.

00:18:03.272 --> 00:18:06.057
It's so good how it's off the platform.

00:18:06.057 --> 00:18:08.311
You don't have to deal with the distractions of Facebook.

00:18:08.311 --> 00:18:30.737
You actually see when somebody posts which you brought up before because we were talking about before, how with you before we started the podcast about how the things in Facebook are monitored, and when, even when we had a group on Facebook before we've even moved our free group off of Facebook because when we had that group no one was seeing our post.

00:18:31.077 --> 00:18:31.740
And that's just crazy.

00:18:31.740 --> 00:18:32.701
You have to pay to boost it.

00:18:32.962 --> 00:18:38.116
Yeah, you have to pay to boost it to get your members to actually see it, and even then it's not shown to everybody.

00:18:38.116 --> 00:18:39.244
It is insane.

00:18:39.244 --> 00:18:43.814
So we're like, we want to get people results, we want them to know what's there for them when they need it.

00:18:43.814 --> 00:18:51.571
It's where we come in and see it and, yeah, I love the fact that you're able to find what you need and that's so very important.

00:18:51.571 --> 00:18:56.115
So there are two parts, which was what I was saying that community.

00:18:56.115 --> 00:18:59.594
You know that where you go in and talk and things disappear down the feed.

00:18:59.594 --> 00:19:07.092
We didn't want that to happen, so we put that search button up there, that you were talking about the search bar, where you can just type in anything and it'll flip anytime.

00:19:07.092 --> 00:19:13.656
We've talked about it in the community, but then we made it super simple to get to the second part, which is the platform.

00:19:13.656 --> 00:19:16.426
With a little bitty button on the community, you just press it.

00:19:16.426 --> 00:19:17.711
It takes you right into the platform.

00:19:17.711 --> 00:19:20.232
That's where we store everything.

00:19:20.232 --> 00:19:22.692
So anytime yeah, all the videos are there.

00:19:22.692 --> 00:19:28.137
Anytime we've had the group coaching sessions, things like that we have the replays.

00:19:28.137 --> 00:19:30.393
They are all of those are archived for you.

00:19:30.393 --> 00:19:34.855
I know you've seen that, obviously because you were in the group coaching replay.

00:19:34.855 --> 00:19:50.317
But the nice thing about the platform is we've made it also searchable, and so the cool thing about that is, like you said, you searched it and it pulled that one video out where we said the word for whatever you were searching for.

00:19:50.317 --> 00:19:52.451
So let's say you were searching for snack.

00:19:52.451 --> 00:19:58.208
It would pull up every time in every video where we said the word snack and then you can click.

00:19:58.208 --> 00:19:58.970
Did you click?

00:19:58.970 --> 00:20:00.634
Like exactly where we said the word?

00:20:00.634 --> 00:20:04.124
It pulls it up and it'll highlight it and you don't have to watch the whole video.

00:20:04.124 --> 00:20:06.737
It'll actually yeah, it'll actually take you.

00:20:06.757 --> 00:20:07.519
I didn't know that part.

00:20:07.519 --> 00:20:11.240
I watched the whole snack I actually scrubbed through the whole thing trying to find it.

00:20:11.240 --> 00:20:24.075
I'm going to show you, and I found it at like a 16 minute mark and I'm like finally, because I went through most of it and then backed up, I'm like it had to be around this part, so I did find it, but that is an interesting and a very cool feature right there, okay.

00:20:24.536 --> 00:20:25.136
So I will post.

00:20:25.136 --> 00:20:36.150
Yeah, I'm going to post a screenshot, because I thought that I hate explaining that, but what I'm going to do is I'm going to post a video and I probably didn't understand what you're talking about, so it's probably a me thing.

00:20:36.150 --> 00:20:43.071
Would it help you to have a screen share of it, cause I can post a screen share of it for you, so you can watch me access it and just show you.

00:20:43.071 --> 00:20:43.974
It's really easy.

00:20:43.974 --> 00:20:53.817
Once you click the video it actually pulls up the transcript words on the side and you just click that one word and it takes you exactly to the place in the video where we said the word.

00:20:53.836 --> 00:20:54.838
See that would make sense.

00:20:54.838 --> 00:20:55.968
I believe the word was highlighted.

00:20:55.968 --> 00:20:57.713
A different color, if I do remember.

00:20:57.713 --> 00:20:59.971
Yes, if you click it, it takes you right to it.

00:21:00.152 --> 00:21:03.164
Yeah, so thank you for telling me that I will definitely post a video.

00:21:03.164 --> 00:21:07.832
Thank you for telling me that, yeah, we love making it simple.

00:21:07.832 --> 00:21:13.824
It's all about making it easy to use, because you don't need roadblocks in the actual platforms.

00:21:13.983 --> 00:21:14.164
Right.

00:21:14.365 --> 00:21:16.491
You know, you just those are the simple things.

00:21:16.491 --> 00:21:17.295
You don't need that.

00:21:17.295 --> 00:21:20.233
But really we've tried to set everything up to make it simple.

00:21:20.244 --> 00:21:24.576
We want it to work for you, not against you, not against you.

00:21:24.576 --> 00:21:24.756
Yes.

00:21:25.244 --> 00:21:31.413
Well, you can definitely tell when you're in there that there's thought and consideration taken into the creation of it, for sure.

00:21:31.964 --> 00:21:35.355
I love hearing that from somebody who's in there using the platform.

00:21:35.355 --> 00:21:37.472
And, girl, you are doing amazing.

00:21:37.472 --> 00:21:45.413
I mean just posting, but you talked about posting things that you're doing, but I see you getting in there and interacting in the comments.

00:21:45.413 --> 00:21:47.290
Just, hey, how'd you do this?

00:21:47.290 --> 00:21:49.972
What thing did you put here?

00:21:49.972 --> 00:21:58.032
Or just different questions, or hey, I tried it, but I did it this way and I use these ingredients, and so you're all getting these ideas.

00:21:58.032 --> 00:22:00.713
It's like you said, this ripple effect happens.

00:22:00.713 --> 00:22:02.351
You mentioned that to me before.

00:22:02.351 --> 00:22:09.443
I remember you saying that one time, that there's this ripple effect that occurs, and you even came up with an actual hashtag.

00:22:09.443 --> 00:22:14.247
Oh, my goodness, do you remember what the hashtag was?

00:22:14.247 --> 00:22:20.358
Sure, I love it so much.

00:22:20.358 --> 00:22:26.755
We smiled and just love that so much, and we will be using that from here on out because that's the truth.

00:22:26.795 --> 00:22:27.477
It's a thing now.

00:22:27.497 --> 00:22:27.758
Right.

00:22:28.230 --> 00:22:34.596
Well, I mean, just think about it, If you get in a ring, you can't get out because it's a circle, so you only have one way to go and it's around and around and around.

00:22:34.596 --> 00:22:39.776
So once you kind of get in that flow, I mean why would you want to leave anyway?

00:22:39.776 --> 00:22:41.877
So that's why I'm looking at it.

00:22:42.090 --> 00:22:50.865
I love that and you had said when you texted it to me, something like once you get in the loop, would you say there's no stopping you.

00:22:50.865 --> 00:22:54.950
I wrote it down Once you get in the loop, there's no stopping you, and I feel like that's so true.

00:22:54.950 --> 00:22:59.519
Once you have that community and support that you've already talked about, it's such a game changer.

00:22:59.519 --> 00:23:00.432
It is.

00:23:00.432 --> 00:23:04.980
So what is your favorite part about the community so far?

00:23:05.750 --> 00:23:06.733
Do I have to pick one?

00:23:08.190 --> 00:23:09.919
Well, I guess I don't know.

00:23:09.919 --> 00:23:11.035
I guess you can tell more than one.

00:23:11.972 --> 00:23:12.996
Maybe I can rank some.

00:23:12.996 --> 00:23:49.155
I think, knowing that it's a safe place, that I can come with people who are very much like me, who have similar goals, so that kind of just that safety of a place that can be supportive, and I know that I'm not going to be judged, I'm not going to be poked at, there's not going to be silly memes about you know, plants have lives too and you know, like silly things that I've seen that people are just like I think they're funny and they're not maybe meaning harm, but you come here and it's all like hey, look at this kale dress, which was awesome, by the way.

00:23:49.155 --> 00:24:10.519
Like those are the fun memes we get to see here, and, you know, in addition to sharing recipes and asking questions about health stuff and finding ways to manage the routine that we're setting up for ourselves, you know we also have fun too, which is really awesome.

00:24:10.519 --> 00:24:20.817
So I think yes is like probably number one, but the functionality of the platform, I think, and the society and everything.

00:24:20.817 --> 00:24:26.296
I really, really love the setup and the structure and gosh.

00:24:26.296 --> 00:24:37.074
I mean just getting to know people and seeing what they like and what they like to do and having a place that I can interact with other people who might have a different take on, something that I'd never considered.

00:24:37.074 --> 00:24:41.657
Even with as much experimenting as I have done in the past with food and everything.

00:24:41.657 --> 00:24:43.013
There's always something new.

00:24:43.013 --> 00:24:55.634
I can learn from somebody, whether it be a process or an ingredient or just an outlook, and so that's something else that is really encouraging for me every day, because I love seeing what am I going to learn today?

00:24:56.356 --> 00:24:59.637
Yes, I love seeing when people just do new combinations.

00:24:59.637 --> 00:25:03.980
Like one of them with the sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts.

00:25:03.980 --> 00:25:05.875
I never would have thought to put those together.

00:25:05.875 --> 00:25:06.979
It tastes fantastic.

00:25:07.130 --> 00:25:08.015
Oh, now that's a thing.

00:25:08.015 --> 00:25:11.073
Those are more honest famous sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts.

00:25:11.073 --> 00:25:14.016
You'll have your own things you become famous for.

00:25:14.016 --> 00:25:16.041
Yeah, you've done that.

00:25:16.041 --> 00:25:19.420
You took one of my recipes and you put different things into it.

00:25:19.420 --> 00:25:26.878
And now another member's made it and she's put other stuff into it and we're all got this thread going of how we're using this recipe and recreating it.

00:25:26.878 --> 00:25:30.915
And now we have quite like four or five meals already that we're going this is crazy.

00:25:31.009 --> 00:25:40.901
And then we've got more ideas and it's just so much fun and you can think some bad green beans that had kind of gone off for that whole spark right there.

00:25:40.901 --> 00:25:41.491
So thank you.

00:25:41.491 --> 00:25:44.135
Bad green beans, oh yeah.

00:25:45.632 --> 00:25:50.049
It's just having that environment where you're sparked to try something different.

00:25:50.049 --> 00:25:51.455
It's like I'm going to try this.

00:25:51.455 --> 00:25:57.455
If it doesn't work, I can share it and see maybe what I could have done instead, or just let people.

00:25:57.455 --> 00:26:05.654
It's so encouraging to see the real and the true of what's going on in different people's kitchens, like what are they doing?

00:26:05.654 --> 00:26:06.753
What are they trying?

00:26:06.753 --> 00:26:07.676
Why didn't it work?

00:26:07.676 --> 00:26:08.179
What did it?

00:26:08.179 --> 00:26:11.299
And you talked about I added some extra liquid.

00:26:11.299 --> 00:26:20.816
And then one had said I feel like I cooked it too long, because I was asking about the time, because I didn't know if y'all cooked it the same amount of time, because green beans take a lot of time.

00:26:20.816 --> 00:26:25.555
So it's those kinds of ideas, that kind of spark, that just lights me up.

00:26:25.555 --> 00:26:29.319
I mean, we have created the community that we want to be part of.

00:26:29.319 --> 00:26:33.791
Like the community that we wish we had had 40, not 40 years ago.

00:26:33.811 --> 00:26:34.781
But when we turned 40.

00:26:35.589 --> 00:26:39.991
40 years ago we would have been a wee lad and a wee type, but yeah 80 years old.

00:26:40.053 --> 00:26:41.979
plant face 80 years old.

00:26:42.250 --> 00:26:43.073
Perfect commercial.

00:26:43.073 --> 00:26:46.911
Right there Y'all, if you're listening on the podcast we are.

00:26:47.112 --> 00:26:48.498
Yeah, I'm going to tell them.

00:26:48.498 --> 00:26:55.657
If you're listening on the podcast, we're taping this also so you can go to YouTube and watch the video and you can see Jared showing his face.

00:26:55.657 --> 00:26:58.375
Yes, we're 40 years old, but real, I mean we're 80.

00:26:58.394 --> 00:26:59.874
But really 40 years old.

00:26:59.874 --> 00:27:03.494
Yeah, I thought of a new hashtag what Recipe rescue?

00:27:05.013 --> 00:27:07.625
Oh, I love it, I'm writing it down.

00:27:07.707 --> 00:27:10.898
Recipe rescue Like this didn't turn out like I wanted Help.

00:27:10.898 --> 00:27:12.856
What do I need to do to make it better?

00:27:12.930 --> 00:27:14.434
That is a great idea.

00:27:14.434 --> 00:27:16.815
Yeah, yeah, that is totally great.

00:27:17.671 --> 00:27:19.156
I love that so much.

00:27:19.156 --> 00:27:23.315
I can always count on you to come up with something Sparks of inspiration.

00:27:23.315 --> 00:27:25.296
Where's the car analogy?

00:27:25.296 --> 00:27:26.848
I'm still waiting for the car analogy.

00:27:26.848 --> 00:27:29.008
That was the same thing, oh that's hilarious.

00:27:29.130 --> 00:27:30.134
And I'm not a car guy.

00:27:30.134 --> 00:27:31.255
That's the funny thing.

00:27:31.255 --> 00:27:32.634
I'm just not a car guy.

00:27:32.634 --> 00:27:34.554
But you know, I've fixed a car too.

00:27:36.130 --> 00:27:37.375
They're very relatable, though.

00:27:37.375 --> 00:27:42.378
Everybody knows what a car is and it's not like you're getting so technical.

00:27:42.378 --> 00:27:44.557
People are like you've got to be a grease monkey to know this.

00:27:44.557 --> 00:27:45.973
This is just like.

00:27:46.054 --> 00:27:46.615
OK, girl.

00:27:47.210 --> 00:27:47.853
I got it.

00:27:47.853 --> 00:27:49.198
It makes sense.

00:27:49.230 --> 00:27:50.185
What was the one you shared recently?

00:27:50.185 --> 00:27:53.641
Do you remember about unplugging the you were talking about?

00:27:53.661 --> 00:27:58.537
Oh yeah, the unplugging the sensor light so we can treat for a number.

00:27:58.537 --> 00:28:07.674
And that's kind of like unplugging the little sensor light or, I'm sorry, I'm playing the sensor, so the little warning light on the dashboard goes off which haven't really taken care of the problem.

00:28:07.674 --> 00:28:15.516
So if we're treating for a number with our health, sometimes that's like taking the warning light off, but you haven't really addressed the root cause.

00:28:16.419 --> 00:28:18.355
Right and treating for the number.

00:28:18.355 --> 00:28:21.637
You don't want to do that, but the numbers can tell you a lot.

00:28:21.637 --> 00:28:29.560
They can tell you a lot, but you want to look at having that lifestyle, like you've done, where you've got what's going on on the inside.

00:28:29.560 --> 00:28:32.318
You're asking yourself what is actually happening in there.

00:28:32.318 --> 00:28:38.900
Is this really a sign that I'm getting that change, that I'm after that my blood vessels are clearing up and all those things?

00:28:38.900 --> 00:28:48.939
And we know from research and from experience and from science that this is actually working on the inside and it's building and helping us gain that life we want.

00:28:48.939 --> 00:28:56.094
It's not just giving us a pretty little number that really doesn't in the long run, show us what's going on on the inside.

00:28:56.094 --> 00:28:58.858
But speaking of numbers, I have to share this with you.

00:28:58.858 --> 00:29:00.476
I had told you a little bit about it before.

00:29:00.476 --> 00:29:05.417
We have a member who has just announced to us they completely reversed diabetes.

00:29:05.569 --> 00:29:07.758
And I am so excited.

00:29:08.230 --> 00:29:10.576
Oh, my word, I mean y'all this happens.

00:29:10.576 --> 00:29:11.875
This is what's normal.

00:29:11.875 --> 00:29:16.636
We're told that all these different diseases are normal for aging and for genetic.

00:29:16.636 --> 00:29:22.137
It is just not true, like we do not have to live this way, and God has put us here for a reason.

00:29:22.137 --> 00:29:23.415
We each have our own purpose.

00:29:23.415 --> 00:29:25.739
Christy, you have an amazing purpose.

00:29:25.739 --> 00:29:30.720
You were sharing with me a little bit about what God's planted into your heart, and I'm so excited about that.

00:29:30.720 --> 00:29:43.381
I think I want you to share that with people because that is just so awesome and you're going to be able to do that now because you've got the motivation and you've got the plan and you know what you're doing to help yourself get better.

00:29:43.381 --> 00:29:44.494
And you're doing it.

00:29:44.494 --> 00:29:45.694
I mean, you're just doing it.

00:29:45.694 --> 00:29:59.218
So I want to hear a little bit about your results, that you're getting and some things that you were hoping for and things that you were dealing with beforehand, but I want you to tell just a little bit about what God's placed in your heart that you're going to be able to do now that you're feeling better.

00:30:00.913 --> 00:30:08.778
Yeah, definitely, the energy has really sparked a lot of, I guess, confidence in myself that.

00:30:08.778 --> 00:30:24.779
I can go ahead, and something I've been dragging my feet on for about a year is to start my own business and doing some sewing, and I really want to help people who are recovering from loss of loved ones and pets.

00:30:24.779 --> 00:30:42.998
It affects us all, so we can all relate at some point in our lives and I really feel like from my unique past, that I have been prepared to be able to do that with other people more so than just having the basic sympathy.

00:30:42.998 --> 00:31:11.457
I have a lot of empathy because of having lost my husband before and so that I really feel like being able to have the energy and the ability to wake up and be energized has just been amazing, an amazing change for me, because even my husband has said when I'm discouraged I'm not completing all the tasks I want to do, and he'll say but do you know how much more you've done today than you were able to do a few months ago?

00:31:11.457 --> 00:31:17.980
And sometimes I haven't realized it, but having him see me from an outside perspective has really helped.

00:31:17.980 --> 00:31:25.079
So I've gained a lot of confidence, even in just that one aspect, to be able to say, ok, I can tackle this goal now.

00:31:25.781 --> 00:31:31.978
Yes, I love that so much, and so you have gained the energy that you need to live out your purpose.

00:31:31.978 --> 00:31:36.499
That's what it sounds like to me, and I'm so excited to see that come to fruition.

00:31:36.499 --> 00:31:38.737
I know that that's going to happen for you.

00:31:38.789 --> 00:31:41.696
We are so excited and we're definitely going to be praying with you about it.

00:31:42.029 --> 00:31:50.214
It's going to help so many people, because we've all been through grief and loss and to be able to have something to give you comfort during that time is huge.

00:31:50.214 --> 00:31:51.357
It's life changing, absolutely.

00:31:51.357 --> 00:31:55.366
We're so excited that you now have the energy and you're feeling good.

00:31:55.366 --> 00:31:58.797
You're feeling so much better and it's just going to keep getting better.

00:31:58.797 --> 00:32:00.055
It's just going to keep getting better.

00:32:00.055 --> 00:32:02.518
So how long have you been inside the membership now?

00:32:03.069 --> 00:32:04.715
I believe since the beginning of November.

00:32:04.715 --> 00:32:09.921
Ok, so that would be about six weeks, yeah, ok.

00:32:10.390 --> 00:32:14.141
So in six weeks I know that you've gained some energy.

00:32:14.141 --> 00:32:15.776
What else has happened for you?

00:32:15.776 --> 00:32:24.500
Just share a little bit, if you don't mind, about your journey and what was going on help-wise that brought you to us.

00:32:24.500 --> 00:32:26.276
And then what's happened since?

00:32:26.710 --> 00:32:31.857
OK, one of the biggest things I had been struggling with was edema.

00:32:31.857 --> 00:32:38.512
I did have some in my legs, but then that kind of calmed down and now it's centralized around my abdomen.

00:32:38.512 --> 00:32:41.836
Everybody says, oh, your blood works fine.

00:32:41.836 --> 00:32:56.366
We don't know what's causing it, and I was on medication for a really long time and they're just like we can't give you anything else, and so they tried to piggyback with a couple other things and it just wasn't working for me.

00:32:56.366 --> 00:33:06.904
It was causing more problems, and then I'd have to be on other medication, like potassium for instance, because it was dropping really really low and I think the medication was causing it to do that.

00:33:06.904 --> 00:33:14.229
So I just I know, probably against everybody's advice I just decided not to renew my medication a year ago.

00:33:14.229 --> 00:33:23.528
So, I've been offered that particular medication and I had still been having no change in the edema until I started in November.

00:33:23.528 --> 00:33:39.428
And so now not only has it reduced in the amount that I have gaining every day, I guess you could say with a fluid buildup, but the frequency of the extreme end of that has been reduced.

00:33:39.428 --> 00:33:42.585
So I can finally see some numbers.

00:33:42.585 --> 00:33:52.423
I've been tracking for a while because none of the professionals believed that I was actually having, you know, upwards of 14 pounds of fluid gain a day.

00:33:52.423 --> 00:33:57.901
So eight to 11 was about average every single day, and so I was in a lot of pain.

00:33:57.901 --> 00:33:59.119
I was having trouble moving.

00:33:59.119 --> 00:34:06.949
Now we're looking at three, maybe five pounds on a bad day, versus double digits.

00:34:07.295 --> 00:34:08.320
That is huge.

00:34:08.320 --> 00:34:10.541
I mean, what a huge change for you.

00:34:10.541 --> 00:34:18.005
Yeah, I understand, because I've dealt with fluid like that before and it's probably not the exact same thing, but I understand what you were going through.

00:34:18.005 --> 00:34:20.963
I mean just carrying that extra weight from the fluid.

00:34:20.963 --> 00:34:28.045
It's uncomfortable, it's exhausting, yes, and to get some relief is just such a blessing.

00:34:28.536 --> 00:34:30.021
So I am thrilled for you.

00:34:30.021 --> 00:34:31.862
Because you can't sit, you can't stand.

00:34:31.862 --> 00:34:40.139
Sometimes it got so bad, up on the 14 end of things it would hurt to even lift my legs to the walk in my hips and right, you know it's just frustrating.

00:34:40.139 --> 00:34:50.101
When you felt like you're getting no help, you go to a handful of different doctors and they're all just like huh, and that's all they want to do, and they send you away.

00:34:50.101 --> 00:35:02.240
But I really think that part of it is they see an overweight person and they go you're just eating too much or you need to exercise more, and that's your fault, and so I don't think they take the thought to go.

00:35:02.240 --> 00:35:14.949
You know, take it out one step further, like, ok, maybe there really is something going on here, maybe she isn't just like having you know, delusions about you know, just being overweight or whatever the case.

00:35:14.949 --> 00:35:21.907
I mean, I really feel like there is this prejudice every time I would go, and it was always brick wall, brick wall, brick wall.

00:35:21.907 --> 00:35:31.545
So the only way to deal with anything I got to take my health into my own hands here as much as I can, and I can completely control the things that I eat.

00:35:31.545 --> 00:35:46.887
I can pick the things I eat to help the conditions that I know of, or at least the symptoms that I know of, and try to approach it that way and when I exhaust all of that, whatever is left might make a clear picture for someone to help me if I need outside help.

00:35:47.494 --> 00:35:49.898
Yes, I love that you're saving that.

00:35:49.898 --> 00:35:55.829
Always when you start this journey for anybody who's listening, start writing your numbers down.

00:35:55.829 --> 00:36:00.626
Even though that doesn't tell the entire picture, it can tell you some of what's going on.

00:36:00.626 --> 00:36:02.963
So keep the numbers and those things like that.

00:36:02.963 --> 00:36:05.083
Don't worry about it.

00:36:05.083 --> 00:36:11.047
But if you keep that log in that journal, you can see what's happened as time goes by and it can be very encouraging.

00:36:11.715 --> 00:36:16.615
Yes, I also chart that morning and afternoon wait, just so I can Again.

00:36:16.615 --> 00:36:22.425
I've been doing that for like two years now, so I try to prove that it's not just in my head Right.

00:36:22.425 --> 00:36:33.994
And so since November it wasn't just going, you know, up and down, up and down, but it was going down and then you'd have your little waves and then down and you have your little waves, and so my base is shifting.

00:36:33.994 --> 00:36:42.204
So I know that it's working, even though I don't have an accurate way of what is my weight, and I'm not concerned about that because I want to get these other things under control more.

00:36:42.324 --> 00:36:42.606
Right.

00:36:42.894 --> 00:36:59.525
But because I'm tracking the fluid, fluid that I can see that not only is it going from here to here, but it's going here to here each day and those numbers are going down, and so the graph chart is getting more like this, closer together for the evening and the morning.

00:37:00.094 --> 00:37:01.777
So OK, so tell me.

00:37:01.777 --> 00:37:10.471
I seem to recall you telling me that you had a special birthday goal or something you were trying to accomplish by your birthday.

00:37:10.614 --> 00:37:12.019
Can you tell me a little bit about that?

00:37:12.019 --> 00:37:29.186
I had only had like this base goal of a particular number and it was only like three pounds away, and I had been battling that line for months and I was just like OK, by my birthday maybe we can get there.

00:37:29.186 --> 00:37:30.661
You know, if we do, great, if we don't.

00:37:30.661 --> 00:37:33.543
Well, I didn't make my birthday, but three days later I hit that.

00:37:33.954 --> 00:37:36.018
So at the beginning of this, month.

00:37:36.159 --> 00:37:42.550
I hit that as like OK if I can keep the build up of fluid under this line right.

00:37:42.550 --> 00:37:50.244
Happy and I will know I'm making progress and so far I have been able to do that, so I've been able to maintain it since the first part of December.

00:37:50.855 --> 00:37:59.028
So you must be being really strict and counting calories and keeping up with portions and worried about macros and micros.

00:37:59.028 --> 00:38:01.561
Right, You're doing all that weight loss stuff.

00:38:02.096 --> 00:38:03.862
And it's doing none of that.

00:38:03.862 --> 00:38:07.443
Precisely None of that is too much effort.

00:38:07.443 --> 00:38:14.748
You know, I was doing that because I had actually gone kind of into the whole like I went completely raw before starting here.

00:38:15.114 --> 00:38:15.175
OK.

00:38:15.556 --> 00:38:18.483
And again have.

00:38:18.483 --> 00:38:40.431
That was just too far for an extreme for my household and so I was doing double the work, because I was cooking all of his food, then I was preparing all of my food, but then I wanted to make sure I was getting enough calories, because you know, pants are lower in calorie I get it but then you know you still have that like almost toxic mindset of you have to micromanage everything.

00:38:40.431 --> 00:38:45.827
And for a person like me, who's a detailed person like that, it just gets out of control really quick.

00:38:45.827 --> 00:38:53.764
So on the raw journey I just kind of I was tracking macros and calories and I mean I was.

00:38:53.764 --> 00:39:09.019
I had a big spreadsheet of all the produce I was buying, down to the PLU and the number of calories and everything per piece of fruit, and I had it linked into my daily menu and it would calculate everything.

00:39:09.019 --> 00:39:13.119
And I was just exhausted by the time I finally said I'm joining up with Pops.

00:39:14.224 --> 00:39:16.172
Girl, I am exhausted.

00:39:16.172 --> 00:39:17.036
Listen to that.

00:39:17.036 --> 00:39:17.659
Does that make you talk?

00:39:17.960 --> 00:39:18.242
Oh yeah.

00:39:19.563 --> 00:39:20.407
I have to go on eating.

00:39:21.101 --> 00:39:22.086
I'm approaching that.

00:39:23.440 --> 00:39:24.565
What in the world?

00:39:24.565 --> 00:39:28.168
I haven't even had to do that with this and I don't worry about it here.

00:39:28.168 --> 00:39:32.860
I have the confidence that things are shifting and changing in my body.

00:39:32.860 --> 00:39:34.260
I can feel the difference.

00:39:34.260 --> 00:39:35.826
My husband sees the difference.

00:39:35.826 --> 00:39:40.980
It's working in our family so I mean honestly, right out the window.

00:39:40.980 --> 00:39:45.907
Those things went in the trash bin and I haven't even picked them back up since I came into the community.

00:39:47.184 --> 00:39:48.579
I love hearing that so much.

00:39:48.579 --> 00:40:07.925
When you can get rid of all those things that just make it difficult and overwhelming Cause a lot of people come into this and they think plant-based and we mentioned that a few minutes ago, but plant-based is just gonna be overwhelming I just I won't know where to start, I won't know where to shop, I won't know what to buy once I get to the store and all those different things.

00:40:08.507 --> 00:40:09.769
Have you found Exotic ingredient?

00:40:10.181 --> 00:40:16.480
Yeah, have you found any of those things to be a struggle before or after coming in?

00:40:16.480 --> 00:40:19.820
I mean, how would you compare that then versus now?

00:40:19.820 --> 00:40:22.248
Do you feel like you're getting the answers that you need?

00:40:23.181 --> 00:40:41.108
Absolutely and of far less confusion, because if you do rely on media outlet sources, whether it be print TV, sometimes your doctor, social media, I mean everybody.

00:40:41.108 --> 00:40:45.483
Just okay, let me log on to YouTube real quick and find a tutorial on a video, right, I mean?

00:40:45.483 --> 00:41:05.286
so that's just kind of the standard of the day, unfortunately but, there is a lot of misinformation, there's a lot of people who are so diehard that if you don't do it this way, you're bad, you're wrong, and so there's all these toxic mindsets that people are putting out there and if you kind of absorb too much of that, it's really defeating.

00:41:05.286 --> 00:41:23.119
And so when you feel like you have to format those levels or do those things to make it work because it worked for these like 10 people on YouTube and then all these other 10 people say don't do it that way, you gotta do it this way Insues the confusion, the chaos in the kitchen and it's overwhelming.

00:41:23.119 --> 00:41:26.847
And then you come here and it's just peaceful and serene and supportive.

00:41:28.364 --> 00:41:29.568
And it's a big difference.

00:41:29.568 --> 00:41:30.744
It really is.

00:41:30.744 --> 00:41:32.927
I feel the same way about it too.

00:41:32.927 --> 00:41:52.445
I know, when we started our journey and we were I mean we were coming from the background of medical and nursing so Jared's a physician assistant and I'm at R&D and just seeing those different things happen, you know, as a nurse and as a physician assistant, we come in there and we're looking at stuff and we're seeing what's happening on YouTube or on social or whatever.

00:41:52.445 --> 00:42:02.280
And thankfully we were just digging into the research a lot at first, so we didn't get too overwhelmed we just wanted to know what the research said, because I was going to doctor's appointments.

00:42:02.280 --> 00:42:05.068
I was having all these major health issues.

00:42:05.068 --> 00:42:06.820
You know the swelling like I had talked about.

00:42:06.820 --> 00:42:12.887
I had the joint pain and just all these kidney issues, breastage, like you name it.

00:42:12.887 --> 00:42:16.927
I had all kinds of stuff going on, but the low energy was what?

00:42:16.927 --> 00:42:17.728
Finally, I told him.

00:42:17.728 --> 00:42:19.688
I said I'm gonna have to go to the hospital.

00:42:19.688 --> 00:42:23.228
I feel so bad and no doctor's been able to tell me what's going on.

00:42:23.708 --> 00:42:24.952
And then you feel like you're dying.

00:42:25.360 --> 00:42:25.983
I feel like I was I feel like.

00:42:26.003 --> 00:42:32.525
I'm dying, I'm this close to having you take me to the ER, except for we felt like we would have gone and still no answers.

00:42:32.699 --> 00:42:34.025
And it was overwhelming.

00:42:34.025 --> 00:42:35.760
It was totally overwhelming.

00:42:35.760 --> 00:42:37.567
And then the information and not knowing what to do.

00:42:37.567 --> 00:42:38.623
So we just focused.

00:42:38.623 --> 00:42:40.489
We got really focused on the research.

00:42:40.489 --> 00:42:41.862
Jared's a big researcher.

00:42:41.862 --> 00:42:43.690
Before he was a physician assistant.

00:42:43.690 --> 00:42:47.947
He actually worked at Medellco University of South Carolina in research.

00:42:48.061 --> 00:42:53.387
He loves to get to the big Well, I'm first degree in molecular biology, so I worked for a few years in the research side of things.

00:42:53.387 --> 00:42:54.902
Yeah, you're like fast.

00:42:54.902 --> 00:42:55.746
What does you have to say?

00:42:55.746 --> 00:42:55.905
Share?

00:42:55.925 --> 00:43:08.268
that stuff and when you get the detailed explanations for us it's not the speak where it's like techie speak, where we can't understand it, but it's detailed in a vernacular that's easy to understand.

00:43:08.268 --> 00:43:25.329
And I love those kinds of things because to me that's the support that I can use for certain family members who are in the medical industry too, or married to the person in the medical industry, where you can kind of go, hey, look, this is what science says.

00:43:25.329 --> 00:43:33.909
I mean, you like to use that to support this, but hey, this is what is driving my decision.

00:43:33.909 --> 00:43:41.206
So when you do share those articles and that's why I like I do listen to Dr Gregor's podcast as well- yes, we love him.

00:43:41.206 --> 00:43:46.704
Right, and I know you guys mentioned him a lot, so that research is very valuable and it's a tidbit for me to go.

00:43:46.704 --> 00:43:46.965
Okay.

00:43:46.965 --> 00:43:48.766
He gave me the starting point.

00:43:48.766 --> 00:43:50.226
You guys give me a starting point.

00:43:50.226 --> 00:43:52.487
I can go dig in deeper if I want to.

00:43:52.487 --> 00:43:55.902
And so you give the link to those things you explain.

00:43:55.902 --> 00:44:08.364
Hey, this is why it answered your question, or this is why it fits this topic we're talking about, and I think we do have a responsibility for ourselves as well not to just say, okay, we just believe Anita and Jared, and that we're gonna leave it there.

00:44:08.364 --> 00:44:15.467
We need to take what you guys give us and grow on that and just take it and say, okay, we have the responsibility to dig in deeper.

00:44:15.467 --> 00:44:17.166
We can share this with others.

00:44:17.166 --> 00:44:20.965
It's a starting point for conversation for people, so it's an excellent tool.

00:44:20.965 --> 00:44:21.985
So I love the research.

00:44:23.099 --> 00:44:24.887
Yeah, Jared loves that so much.

00:44:24.887 --> 00:44:30.210
He's actually thinking about starting something inside the community that we've talked about.

00:44:30.210 --> 00:44:31.344
What were you gonna call it?

00:44:31.780 --> 00:44:33.106
Science Snacks with Jared.

00:44:33.539 --> 00:44:36.762
Science Snacks with Jared, so you can look forward.

00:44:36.762 --> 00:44:38.168
You're hearing it here first.

00:44:38.280 --> 00:44:42.929
We take something take a concept but just kind of condense it down to the key point.

00:44:42.929 --> 00:44:44.579
But I love giving.

00:44:45.914 --> 00:44:47.284
Make it digestible, yeah, oh girl.

00:44:47.579 --> 00:44:58.407
Well, in some of that, that's just 20 plus years of being a PA Cause I remember my first year and I look back and think, oh my Lord, I just inundated those people with information that they did not need.

00:44:58.487 --> 00:45:00.262
Fire hose Because.

00:45:00.844 --> 00:45:03.967
I'm detail oriented so I figured that's yeah.

00:45:03.967 --> 00:45:09.387
So if people can get that, then they'll understand why we're doing what we're doing.

00:45:09.387 --> 00:45:17.889
But then I've realized okay, give them information, but condense it, Give them the pertinence, and then then that's it.

00:45:18.068 --> 00:45:19.112
Yeah, he was sharing the other day.

00:45:19.112 --> 00:45:22.166
I've learned how to do that so well now with my patients.

00:45:22.447 --> 00:45:22.688
Yeah.

00:45:23.320 --> 00:45:25.394
And he said I think I'm going to start doing science snacks.

00:45:25.416 --> 00:45:27.284
Science snacks with Jared Inside the community we saw it.

00:45:27.284 --> 00:45:27.625
I love it.

00:45:27.625 --> 00:45:31.039
Snacks with Jared I think I should definitely do it, definitely.

00:45:31.101 --> 00:45:32.338
I think that's going to be so much fun.

00:45:32.338 --> 00:45:34.226
I cannot wait to see him do that.

00:45:34.226 --> 00:45:35.650
It shouldn't be long.

00:45:35.650 --> 00:45:37.545
He's already got ideas rolling.

00:45:37.585 --> 00:45:39.766
Yeah, yeah, I have a few ideas.

00:45:39.766 --> 00:45:44.947
I just haven't had a pretty day just yet and I may just go for a walk and just record them on my phone.

00:45:45.619 --> 00:45:47.106
It doesn't have to be perfect.

00:45:47.106 --> 00:45:47.985
It doesn't have to be perfect.

00:45:48.460 --> 00:45:49.759
It doesn't have to look pretty.

00:45:49.820 --> 00:45:50.965
It doesn't have to look pretty.

00:45:51.260 --> 00:45:52.746
I don't know if it wasn't raining either.

00:45:53.340 --> 00:45:55.967
Oh yeah, you don't want to get soaked, that's for sure.

00:45:55.967 --> 00:45:57.559
Okay so, chris.

00:45:57.579 --> 00:45:58.902
Nobody likes soggy snacks.

00:45:59.123 --> 00:46:02.271
I love it.

00:46:02.271 --> 00:46:04.586
No soggy snacks.

00:46:04.586 --> 00:46:05.983
That should be a hashtag.

00:46:05.983 --> 00:46:07.568
No snacks, y'all know.

00:46:08.320 --> 00:46:16.027
Y'all know what it's like, jared, oh my word, nobody likes soggy snacks.

00:46:16.027 --> 00:46:21.724
Okay, I feel a new hashtag coming off Absolutely no, we digress.

00:46:21.724 --> 00:46:36.298
So what would you say, christy, to someone who's sitting on the fence about joining us inside of Power on Plant Society, because I know it's hard, like you're sitting there and you're thinking it's not just us.

00:46:36.318 --> 00:46:37.664
Yeah, all of us.

00:46:37.664 --> 00:46:38.923
It's joining you, yeah.

00:46:40.460 --> 00:46:41.003
That's true.

00:46:41.003 --> 00:46:43.186
Well, I'd say, do it.

00:46:43.186 --> 00:46:53.010
You're getting a family that cares, you're getting an environment that is safe and comfortable and easy, and if you're looking for a change, that's easy.

00:46:53.010 --> 00:46:55.838
Hello, this is it.

00:46:55.838 --> 00:46:59.965
Trust me, I have tried a bazillion other ways.

00:46:59.965 --> 00:47:11.811
This has just been the easiest and most successful and, by the way, the only place I actually follow recipes, because I tend to be a bit of a renegade and kind of say, forget a recipe.

00:47:11.811 --> 00:47:13.416
I just I know the basics.

00:47:13.416 --> 00:47:20.418
I'm going to just make stuff up as I go, but you know this is great, yeah, we have something else to comment.

00:47:20.418 --> 00:47:23.876
That's her starting point I know nothing of that Nothing.

00:47:24.481 --> 00:47:25.788
Please tell me you wrote it down like no?

00:47:25.788 --> 00:47:28.994
I'm going to have to redo it and measure and I'm a little particular.

00:47:28.994 --> 00:47:30.320
He hates it.

00:47:30.561 --> 00:47:33.414
He's like oh, that was so great, but I know I'll never see it again.

00:47:33.414 --> 00:47:37.554
And I'm like oh right Let me, so I go back and I jot down on my phone some notes.

00:47:37.554 --> 00:47:38.757
Okay, I put this, this and this.

00:47:38.757 --> 00:47:39.480
Do I have measurements?

00:47:39.480 --> 00:47:40.742
No, I eyeballed everything.

00:47:40.742 --> 00:47:47.228
So then it's like these are all just suggested measurements, even in the paprika ones I put in there.

00:47:47.228 --> 00:48:01.061
I do try to recall to the best of my ability, but you know I mean yeah, but you guys give a good foundation for people who might not like recipes to be able to go okay, this is cool, I can do this and I don't mind following it.

00:48:01.061 --> 00:48:02.985
It makes sense and it's easy.

00:48:03.206 --> 00:48:07.510
So yeah, I'm a little picky about how things taste so I want it to be just.

00:48:07.510 --> 00:48:10.242
My goal is to get that great base out there.

00:48:10.242 --> 00:48:21.527
Like I grew up in the South maybe you grew up farther north so you like this spice versus that or like Jared, he grew up in Louisiana so he's kind of a Cajun boy so he likes those seasonings and those spices.

00:48:21.527 --> 00:48:30.621
And so just being able to learn like the different flavors that I like, that I can put into it but put it on that base recipe to really make it my own.

00:48:30.621 --> 00:48:39.617
But if you can start with the base and try it and then learn to season it up with what are the different flavor profiles and how do I do it, I think it's really huge.

00:48:40.139 --> 00:48:43.947
It is so that just makes the flexibility, makes things great.

00:48:43.947 --> 00:48:46.199
You know that's exactly what you're describing there.

00:48:46.199 --> 00:48:46.721
You know.

00:48:46.721 --> 00:48:53.463
So if you don't like the original seasonings but you have something fun that you like sitting in your cabinet.

00:48:53.463 --> 00:48:56.175
Use it Absolutely.

00:48:57.538 --> 00:48:59.521
Absolutely, Sister.

00:48:59.521 --> 00:49:04.590
We have loved having you on the podcast and inside the membership.

00:49:04.590 --> 00:49:19.938
Oh, my word, we are so happy to have you as a part of the Power on Plants family, especially inside Power on Plants Society, where we've gotten to know you more and we're growing together and we're able to just share this journey, see the changes that you're getting, and share life together.

00:49:19.938 --> 00:49:32.320
We are blessed and we're so excited about all the amazing things that are coming for you in the future, all these amazing ways that God's going to use you, and just we love seeing you get free.

00:49:32.320 --> 00:49:34.405
It's so exciting girl.

00:49:34.425 --> 00:49:34.806
Thank you.

00:49:34.806 --> 00:49:39.170
Well, I'm grateful for the opportunity and I'm so happy to be here, so thank you guys.

00:49:39.652 --> 00:49:42.300
Thank you so much and we will see you soon.

00:49:42.300 --> 00:49:43.202
Sounds good.

00:49:43.202 --> 00:49:52.849
Bren, you've just heard from Christy all about how she's finally feeling better and getting the health results she's been after for such a long time.

00:49:52.849 --> 00:50:08.722
She shared how being a part of Power on Plants Society has increased our opportunities in life because, as a result of the physical changes she's gotten, she now has the energy she needs to start that business she's been dreaming about creating for years.

00:50:08.722 --> 00:50:16.289
So here's my question for you what have you just been wishing you felt good enough to do in your own life?

00:50:16.289 --> 00:50:33.978
Is it enjoying the active life you were created to live, running and playing with your children and grandchildren, being fully present to sow lasting seeds of knowledge and wisdom into their lives, sharing all those special moments as they grow their graduations, marriages, birthdays and anniversaries?

00:50:33.978 --> 00:50:48.358
Perhaps you want to be able to travel and fully experience all the beauty of the places that you visit, to have the energy to walk all the sites, taking it all in, or to hike those trails and soak up all the wonder that's waiting in creation.

00:50:48.358 --> 00:50:56.547
Maybe you want to feel like volunteering more, or perhaps have the energy you need to gather with friends and build strong, vibrant relationships.

00:50:56.547 --> 00:51:01.882
You see, getting healthy is about so much more than just reversing disease.

00:51:01.882 --> 00:51:08.947
It's really about the opportunities that are going to open up for you once those diseases are gone.

00:51:08.947 --> 00:51:12.356
What kind of life do you keep dreaming of living?

00:51:12.356 --> 00:51:27.313
It's waiting for you in 2024 and beyond, jared, and I want you to know that we are here for you to help you learn the sustainable, enjoyable way to eat more whole plant food so you can finally feel better and live the active life you deserve.

00:51:27.313 --> 00:51:35.460
There's a great community of believers inside Power on Plant Society waiting to support and encourage you on your journey to plant-based health.

00:51:35.460 --> 00:51:39.068
Friend, there is hope and you are not alone.

00:51:39.068 --> 00:51:41.141
The truth is you can do this.

00:51:41.141 --> 00:51:44.070
It's not hard, it's just different.

00:51:44.070 --> 00:51:51.347
And once you have the system and the support you need, everything can start changing for you in remarkable ways.

00:51:51.347 --> 00:51:57.592
