00:00:00.441 --> 00:00:06.533
Hey there, Sunshine, Would you agree that sometimes the best lessons we learn in life are the ones we learn the hard way?
00:00:06.533 --> 00:00:12.092
Well, Jared and I are going to be sharing with you today something we learned the hard way, because we don't want you to have to learn the hard way.
00:00:12.092 --> 00:00:14.888
You can learn this from us and save yourself the agony of it.
00:00:14.888 --> 00:00:20.073
So we're going to share with you today the number one way to extend the life of your blender.
00:00:20.073 --> 00:00:23.882
Hey sister, welcome to the Power on Plants podcast.
00:00:23.882 --> 00:00:29.210
Are you tired of staring into the fridge wondering what to eat so you can just feel better?
00:00:29.210 --> 00:00:34.595
Do you want to avoid spending hours in the kitchen making complicated meals in the name of health?
00:00:34.595 --> 00:00:43.024
Would you love to leave fatigue behind and finally have the energy to do all the things you want to do?
00:00:43.043 --> 00:00:48.573
Hi, we're Jared and Anita Roussel, Christ followers, healthcare professionals, parents of four and big fans of great tasting food.
00:00:48.573 --> 00:01:00.750
We, too, tried exercising more, eating natural and clean foods, but we still found ourselves struggling with what we thought were changes that come with age or bad genes, and we weren't finding answers the traditional route.
00:01:00.750 --> 00:01:07.980
So we dug into the research and created our secret nutritional weapon sustainable plant-based living.
00:01:07.980 --> 00:01:11.790
The truth is, you can eat more whole plant foods and it's not hard.
00:01:11.790 --> 00:01:16.947
You just need the way that's realistic and delicious so you never feel deprived.
00:01:16.947 --> 00:01:25.173
If you're ready to enjoy your meals, no longer be held back by your health struggles and actively live your life, then you're in the right place.
00:01:25.173 --> 00:01:30.451
So grab your favorite plant-based cup of happy pop in those earbuds and let's get started.
00:01:30.451 --> 00:01:35.789
Well, hello friend, we are so glad to have you joining us today.
00:01:35.789 --> 00:01:40.768
Jared and I are sharing with you something today that's a little painful.
00:01:41.149 --> 00:01:46.754
Well, it's only painful for us because we had to learn it the hard way, it won't be painful for you, because you're going to learn from our mistake.
00:01:46.754 --> 00:01:49.242
That's wisdom learn from other people's mistakes.
00:01:49.822 --> 00:01:50.765
I love that.
00:01:50.765 --> 00:01:52.007
That is wisdom.
00:01:52.007 --> 00:01:53.953
Oh my word, you could not have said that better.
00:01:53.953 --> 00:01:55.843
That is just gold right there.
00:01:55.843 --> 00:02:00.269
Wisdom is learning from other people's mistakes.
00:02:00.269 --> 00:02:04.546
Be wise, learn from this mistake so that you don't have to go through it.
00:02:04.546 --> 00:02:06.262
That's a lot of what we share.
00:02:06.262 --> 00:02:13.550
I mean, we went through a lot of things trial and error, trying to figure it out, digging into the research, trying it out, seeing if we're learning a different way.
00:02:13.550 --> 00:02:22.947
Looking at recipes oh my goodness, how many recipes I tried that were plant-based, that were so bad and I thought is this all there is?
00:02:23.048 --> 00:02:28.527
And that was after it made the initial filter of looking at it and just knowing, yeah, there's no flavor in that.
00:02:28.527 --> 00:02:34.598
And then we get ones that we think OK, I mean, that maybe seems promising, and then it's just now enjoyment.
00:02:35.221 --> 00:02:41.774
So listen, use wisdom, get into Podcast Insider's experience at powerandplantscom forward slash P-I-E.
00:02:41.774 --> 00:02:44.587
That's powerandplantscom forward slashP I E.
00:02:44.587 --> 00:02:45.762
That's our free group.
00:02:45.762 --> 00:02:48.512
Get in there and learn from the wisdom of others.
00:02:48.512 --> 00:02:54.409
You all have things that you've gone through that are difficult and hard and you've learned the hard way.
00:02:54.409 --> 00:02:56.080
Share those things with each other.
00:02:56.161 --> 00:02:57.223
Be transparent.
00:02:57.223 --> 00:03:01.201
Learn from the things that other people are sharing, that they've gone through that are difficult.
00:03:01.201 --> 00:03:02.984
It's like look, I did this.
00:03:02.984 --> 00:03:04.486
This did not turn out so well.
00:03:04.486 --> 00:03:07.031
Any suggestions about how I could do it next time?
00:03:07.031 --> 00:03:09.394
Or I tried this appliance.
00:03:09.394 --> 00:03:10.215
It didn't work.
00:03:10.215 --> 00:03:11.063
I don't recommend it.
00:03:11.063 --> 00:03:13.194
Or hey, I found this appliance, absolutely.
00:03:13.194 --> 00:03:13.536
Love it.
00:03:13.536 --> 00:03:16.389
Like learn from each other, but especially the hard things.
00:03:16.389 --> 00:03:17.473
Be transparent.
00:03:17.473 --> 00:03:24.189
You don't have to share everything, but if you have something that you go through, like what we've gone through that we're sharing with you today, share that with each other.
00:03:24.189 --> 00:03:27.316
The course is coming up that's going to be coming up.
00:03:27.316 --> 00:03:28.497
Sometime this year.
00:03:28.497 --> 00:03:32.611
We're going to be releasing our signature course and we'll have a community involved in that.
00:03:32.611 --> 00:03:35.923
It's going to be a wonderful place for you to share.
00:03:36.022 --> 00:03:42.544
If you're already inside Power on Plant Society, which is our membership, start doing more of this with each other.
00:03:42.544 --> 00:03:45.512
Why are you not sharing these things as you learn them?
00:03:45.512 --> 00:03:48.026
I know you're trying stuff that's not working.
00:03:48.026 --> 00:03:52.223
I know you're having some experiences and you're thinking what in the world?
00:03:52.223 --> 00:03:59.332
Share that stuff with each other, because that's how you're going to learn and grow and help each other along in this journey as you go.
00:03:59.834 --> 00:04:01.460
So listen, here's what happened.
00:04:01.460 --> 00:04:02.503
Here's the deal.
00:04:02.503 --> 00:04:05.617
We had one too many goopy blade.
00:04:05.617 --> 00:04:12.223
Have you ever had a goopy blade on your blender where the bottom of it starts getting this black goo that oozes out from it and you think what's it doing?
00:04:12.223 --> 00:04:14.149
Is it just shedding its oil, is it?
00:04:14.149 --> 00:04:15.322
What is this thing doing?
00:04:15.322 --> 00:04:26.454
I mean, it's a mess, it's nasty, and then it gets to where it won't turn quite right because the oil and the things that are supposed to lubricate the blade basically so that it runs it starts not running as well.
00:04:26.454 --> 00:04:34.494
It could even mess up your base over time because it's having to work harder to turn the blade because all of that lubricant is leaking out.
00:04:35.380 --> 00:04:39.612
You don't want that to happen to your blender, especially if you paid several hundred dollars for it.
00:04:39.612 --> 00:04:42.480
So we learned this lesson the hard way.
00:04:42.620 --> 00:04:48.634
We'll take you back and I'll go through step by step, not painful details, but through little details.
00:04:48.860 --> 00:04:51.466
I thought for sure you were going to give us the time machine sound there.
00:04:52.571 --> 00:04:55.158
Well, it's funny, you should mention that I had thought about it, you're tempted.
00:04:55.230 --> 00:04:57.298
I actually had thought about it, you were tempted.
00:04:59.555 --> 00:05:08.348
So all right, all right, we'll go back in time a few years, and I remember this very vividly because we had, not too long before this incident, had discovered the Nutribullet.
00:05:08.348 --> 00:05:15.740
Right and we thought, wow, now we did have a Vitamix, but the Nutribullet does do some things a little bit better and we use both on a daily basis.
00:05:15.920 --> 00:05:23.492
And look, if you're not sure about it, go and check out the episode before this, because we are going to have for you information on the blenders.
00:05:23.492 --> 00:05:25.096
Okay, which blender do I buy?
00:05:25.096 --> 00:05:26.961
Do I need to buy a high speed blender?
00:05:26.961 --> 00:05:30.502
All that's answered for you in the episode previous to this one.
00:05:30.502 --> 00:05:31.627
Go back and listen to it.
00:05:31.627 --> 00:05:32.670
You're not going to want to miss it.
00:05:32.670 --> 00:05:36.199
But Jared is making the point here of what happened with us.
00:05:36.300 --> 00:05:38.211
We had already had a Vitamix for quite a while.
00:05:38.211 --> 00:05:43.502
We decided to get a Nutribullet and we did like it and we used it and enjoyed it.
00:05:43.502 --> 00:05:51.360
But after about two to three months we started noticing that there was this goopy stuff on the bottom of the blade, and I'll say blade base.
00:05:51.360 --> 00:05:58.399
That's different than the motor base, so where the blade is started getting the goopiness Underneath on the bottom side, on the bottom side, so you see the blade.
00:05:58.439 --> 00:06:04.617
You flip it over on that bottom side and it had this black stuff Goo, it's like goo.
00:06:05.379 --> 00:06:10.595
And it just then, within I guess about a month of that, it just stopped working.
00:06:10.595 --> 00:06:14.502
Very well it was loose and it was creating a lot of heat to it.
00:06:14.502 --> 00:06:19.353
It just wasn't working properly and I thought, man, this thing just stinks.
00:06:19.353 --> 00:06:21.802
This is not a very good quality product.
00:06:21.802 --> 00:06:25.452
I think we may have gotten some replacement bottoms for that.
00:06:25.452 --> 00:06:31.992
Well then, we fast forward just a little bit to where we started, having the same issue with our Vitamix.
00:06:32.012 --> 00:06:33.495
With our Vitamix.
00:06:33.495 --> 00:06:34.836
The Vitamix, yes.
00:06:34.836 --> 00:06:43.437
So I had called Vitamix because the carafe had a replaceable blade and we had purchased a new one only, really, because it had gotten dull.
00:06:43.437 --> 00:06:46.874
It wasn't blending as well, and this was after many years of usage.
00:06:46.874 --> 00:06:48.117
So I had replaced it.
00:06:48.117 --> 00:06:55.398
But we were doing the same thing with the Vitamix blade that we were doing unknowingly with the Nutribullet blade.
00:06:55.398 --> 00:07:00.425
So I called Vitamix and said, hey, I bought this blade only maybe six months ago.
00:07:00.425 --> 00:07:01.889
Is it still under warranty?
00:07:01.889 --> 00:07:10.338
To my chagrin I found out that it was not under warranty, because Vitamix does not sell their blades separately for residential use.
00:07:10.338 --> 00:07:12.879
You have to buy the carafe with the blade.
00:07:12.879 --> 00:07:19.641
That was a professional, commercial use thing, so there was no free replacement.
00:07:19.641 --> 00:07:22.329
But the information we gathered in that phone call was invaluable.
00:07:22.370 --> 00:07:24.858
So worth it, because it's going to help you too, not just us.
00:07:25.069 --> 00:07:28.959
Because a woman said are you getting the blade wet on the bottom?
00:07:28.959 --> 00:07:33.620
Obviously not the top, because that's where all the food is and the liquid and anything you're making.
00:07:33.620 --> 00:07:35.454
Are you getting the bottom wet?
00:07:35.454 --> 00:07:37.319
And I said yes, we are.
00:07:37.319 --> 00:07:49.334
She said well, that is a problem because water is getting in where the lubricant is, it's messing it up, causing it to drain out, and then you end up where it gets loose, and sometimes too, you can get liquid that seeps in.
00:07:49.375 --> 00:07:58.230
And I think that's what was happening with the Nutribullet Liquid was seeping in where that little spindle is, and then that was then creating further black goo on the bottom.
00:07:58.230 --> 00:08:03.083
And so she was telling us about a carafe that they have that is actually dishwasher safe.
00:08:03.083 --> 00:08:04.853
The bottom can get wet.
00:08:04.853 --> 00:08:06.437
It's a stainless steel carafe.
00:08:06.437 --> 00:08:10.317
We use it for a lot of things as well, but she said that one is specifically designed.
00:08:10.317 --> 00:08:17.617
So if this is going to be something that'll get wet you wash in the dishwasher or in the sink then I recommend that one because you won't have that same problem.
00:08:17.617 --> 00:08:24.377
That was a light bulb moment, because we realized, yes, we've been sitting these things just in our sink and I don't think we were.
00:08:24.458 --> 00:08:26.221
We didn't submerge them in water.
00:08:26.221 --> 00:08:27.874
No, you would never want to do that.
00:08:27.954 --> 00:08:28.937
But they would do that.
00:08:29.278 --> 00:08:32.874
But sometimes they would get placed into the sink and then just the water.
00:08:32.894 --> 00:08:36.078
The water might build up enough to where it was hitting the bottom.
00:08:36.440 --> 00:08:42.788
And sometimes I think even it was getting splashed quite a bit, like the kids would rinse it and they might flip it over accidentally and then just put it over.
00:08:43.311 --> 00:08:46.019
Just rinsing the whole thing under a stream of running water.
00:08:46.350 --> 00:08:50.902
And then the water's running heavy and it's splashing back up out of their hand onto the bottom of it.
00:08:50.902 --> 00:08:53.239
So you have to be careful about how you wash them.
00:08:53.239 --> 00:08:55.188
It doesn't mean it has to take a long time or be difficult about how you wash them.
00:08:55.188 --> 00:09:04.120
It doesn't mean it has to take a long time or be difficult, but one of the best ways is just putting some water and one little drop of soap in there, putting the blade back on your carafe and running it.
00:09:04.120 --> 00:09:07.136
That is one of the best ways to get your blender clean.
00:09:07.692 --> 00:09:13.110
Or I've even done some baking soda, because that will clean it but won't leave any kind of residue.
00:09:13.110 --> 00:09:15.370
If you're concerned about that, we've done it both.
00:09:22.400 --> 00:09:26.259
Vitamix is the only one I know that offers that, and I think it only fits certain models.
00:09:26.259 --> 00:09:27.519
So it does fit our model.
00:09:27.519 --> 00:09:30.697
We'll put the model that we have below so that y'all can look into that.
00:09:30.697 --> 00:09:42.365
If you're looking at getting a Vitamix, but also, like I said, go back to the previous episode, because we share some other blenders that we absolutely love as well and you want to be able to check those out.
00:09:42.365 --> 00:09:47.900
If you're looking at buying a blender in the near future, but out.
00:09:47.921 --> 00:09:51.892
If you're looking at buying a blender in the near future, but when you do buy one, you don't want it to crap out on you because of something you did not knowing.
00:09:51.912 --> 00:10:03.288
We want to save you from all these things, all these mistakes, all these mindset things and the things about your environment, and showing you like it doesn't have to take you a long time.
00:10:03.288 --> 00:10:08.105
We want to save you from hours in the kitchen and we want to show you that it can be simple.
00:10:08.105 --> 00:10:30.893
We want to show you how to cut out those processes that take a long time, and we love showing you how to make it taste great, and all of these things together are so very important to help you to not make the mistakes that we made and that are so common when people try to adopt a plant-based lifestyle, like running your thing under the water, or even not intentionally.
00:10:30.893 --> 00:10:34.610
I mean, like I said, we weren't just running it under the water or dropping it in the dishwater.
00:10:34.610 --> 00:10:35.631
We weren't doing that.
00:10:35.631 --> 00:10:43.957
I was really trying not to get it wet, but I didn't realize how much water it was really getting and not knowing what was causing that.
00:10:44.100 --> 00:10:50.429
Well, now we know, and there are six of us in this house, so there may have been times it had gotten submerged.
00:10:50.519 --> 00:10:54.323
We were unaware of this is highly likely If you have children.
00:10:54.323 --> 00:10:55.126
You know that's true.
00:10:55.720 --> 00:11:07.389
Once we started instituting this one little simple strategy, the blade base that went from only lasting about two months went to lasting a good two years and you can replace them for about $25.
00:11:07.389 --> 00:11:13.823
But if I can have that $25 investment last me two years, I would much rather have it last me two years and you're talking about the Nutribullet.
00:11:13.823 --> 00:11:14.966
On the Nutribullet yes, Right.
00:11:14.986 --> 00:11:16.552
The Vitamix lasts longer than that.
00:11:16.552 --> 00:11:18.162
It will last you longer than that.
00:11:18.162 --> 00:11:21.105
The blade I don't think we're not replacing our blade every two years.
00:11:21.166 --> 00:11:22.508
It lasts a lot longer than that.
00:11:22.508 --> 00:11:25.010
So just keep them dry.
00:11:25.010 --> 00:11:30.283
That's your one gold nugget for today, although we shared a lot of gold nuggets Again, we always do that.
00:11:30.283 --> 00:11:33.691
Learn from our mistakes, all of them.
00:11:33.691 --> 00:11:46.133
We share with you how to do that here inside our free community pie, it's powerplanescom, forward slash PIE, and we share this with you because we don't want you to have these problems.
00:11:46.653 --> 00:11:51.005
But when you get inside our communities, make sure that you're sharing this with each other.
00:11:51.005 --> 00:11:59.845
Like I said, inside the free community, share your mistakes, share the things you've learned, share the new things that you're trying that work better than the old.
00:11:59.845 --> 00:12:06.907
This is how you're going to help skyrocket each other and yourself to success, because you cannot out give.
00:12:06.907 --> 00:12:17.629
God when you give and when you share is when you're going to get better results, because other people are going to then share in turn and it just blesses you every time.
00:12:17.629 --> 00:12:20.494
It will never, never fail to bless you.
00:12:20.494 --> 00:12:23.768
We have loved sharing this tip with you.
00:12:23.888 --> 00:12:31.125
Let our loss and our difficulty and our struggle in all areas that we've now figured out what to do.
00:12:31.125 --> 00:12:33.451
Let that be your gain.
00:12:33.451 --> 00:12:39.850
We say about our children let our ceiling be their floor, and that's what we want for you.
00:12:39.850 --> 00:12:42.100
We want our ceiling to be your floor.
00:12:42.100 --> 00:12:53.072
We want to start you out at the place that took us a long time to get to and then just grow together and learn together and show you all these things that you didn't even know were possible.
00:12:53.779 --> 00:12:55.587
I didn't know whole plant food could taste this good.
00:12:55.587 --> 00:13:00.052
I can't tell you how many times I hear that I had no idea what in the world.
00:13:00.052 --> 00:13:01.946
Why didn't somebody tell me this before?
00:13:01.946 --> 00:13:03.029
This is great.
00:13:03.029 --> 00:13:04.405
I love this way of living.
00:13:04.405 --> 00:13:12.173
That is the place you want to get to, and you do that by learning things that will help you not want to cry when you lose your favorite appliance.
00:13:12.173 --> 00:13:14.086
So we don't want you to lose your appliance.
00:13:14.086 --> 00:13:15.205
You paid good money for it.
00:13:15.205 --> 00:13:22.072
We want it to last as long as possible, and one way you do that is by keeping your blade dry on the bottom.
00:13:22.072 --> 00:13:24.102
Keep your blade dry on the bottom.
00:13:24.102 --> 00:13:30.514
We look forward to getting to know you inside our communities, inside the upcoming course.
00:13:30.514 --> 00:13:45.490
Listen this information when you apply it not just learn it, but apply it can change your life, one beautiful, enjoyable day at a time, and we are so honored to be a part of your plant-based journey.
00:13:45.490 --> 00:13:48.480
Have a great day, sunshine and we'll see you soon.
00:13:48.480 --> 00:13:50.121
Thank you.
