00:00:42.600 --> 00:00:44.460
And let's get started.
00:00:47.070 --> 00:01:14.069
When we first discovered whole food plant based living, we really came across it almost by accident kind of stumbled upon it. If you haven't heard Anita story, go back to episode number one where we talked about it in detail. But she had some issues with fatigue, extreme fatigue, pain, I mean, really, almost crippling, to the point where she was homeschooling our children from her bed or from couch, the couch. She could barely wash her hair. When she was in the shower. The
00:01:14.069 --> 00:01:16.769
joint pain was so severe, it was incapacitating,
00:01:16.799 --> 00:01:24.390
I was on a stool up to the stove for dinner. I mean, it really for it was not a very pleasant few years.
00:01:25.409 --> 00:01:52.980
living this way, completely changed my energy, my pain went away. And that's one of the things we're going to talk about today. But right now just focusing on energy. I mean, we're passionate about helping purpose driven women to get their energy back. Why? Because as purpose driven women, we have a lot of things on our plate and a lot of things more that we want to do and accomplish in this life. And we can't do it if we feel bad every day, and we're just barely surviving the day.
00:01:53.159 --> 00:02:01.349
And we can't think clearly and all of those things. So the first thing that happened for me was, I got my energy back and I got my wife back.
00:02:02.010 --> 00:02:19.740
It really was a night and day difference. Now it didn't happen overnight. But over the course of time, as we made those progressive changes, she went from somedays not even getting out of bed to now come 11 o'clock at night, she's got to force herself to go to bed, because she just has that much energy. I
00:02:19.740 --> 00:02:22.560
just feel good. I'm not ready to go to bed at night.
00:02:22.889 --> 00:02:23.909
We got too much to do.
00:02:23.939 --> 00:02:51.780
Yeah, well, and that's another thing. So now I know that I need my sleep. That's one of the things that we teach people about how to do that, how do you get good sleep? Well, if I'm keeping myself up all night, then that's going to cause problems. So my genes that we've talked about in a previous episode, you want to check that out, it's gonna cause a lot of other things. So all that to say my energy is better than it's ever been that I ever remember it being. And, and there's still other things I'm working on.
00:02:49.710 --> 00:02:52.889
We're always working on things with our health to don't
00:02:53.909 --> 00:02:54.479
process.
00:02:54.509 --> 00:03:02.400
Yeah, I don't, by any means think, oh, they've arrived, that we're perfect. No, we're walking this journey out as well. But we've learned a lot of things that make it simple.
00:03:02.580 --> 00:03:27.240
And we are an night and day difference on our health where we were before sorry, energy is back. The next thing I had trouble with was vascular issues shared had this same, when I would lay in bed at night, if I would lay on my side, I could hear literally hear the blood rushing through my carotid arteries that are in your neck.
00:03:21.300 --> 00:03:36.750
So I would hear and it would get louder and louder, the more light on that side, which can indicate that you're having carotid stenosis, or blockage of that artery starting to build us and
00:03:36.750 --> 00:03:39.090
That's the main artery that goes up into your head.
00:03:39.360 --> 00:03:45.930
Now, Anita, his mother actually had that same thing and ended up needing surgery for that. So it can be a very serious issue.
00:03:46.110 --> 00:04:01.740
But it can be reversed with changing to healthy plant based eating, I'm not telling you, it's gonna happen every time but I'm telling you with me, I have had vascular changes that have reversed, I no longer hear that at all. I completely can sleep on my side at night.
00:03:59.370 --> 00:04:02.219
And I don't have that problem anymore.
00:04:02.250 --> 00:04:09.569
And this is not common knowledge me many people won't hear this from their doctors.
00:04:05.789 --> 00:04:15.840
But there are studies with even imaging studies that show before and after how the blood flow has just increased tremendously.
00:04:15.899 --> 00:04:24.899
While the vessels I've been start opening back up. It's amazing how it can happen. Your body was created to be able to repair itself, but you have to give it the nutrients it needs.
00:04:25.079 --> 00:04:51.928
And the other things that we talked about, such as sleep and decreasing stress, and all those other things that we've talked about in some of our other episodes, and that we talk about in our membership, and we help our clients with but one of the biggest keys is what you're eating and what you're not eating and how to get that right in a way that's easy that you enjoy and that you can do for a lifetime. So again, to recap, the first thing was energy increased and the next thing was vascular changes, which were amazing.
00:04:51.990 --> 00:05:06.569
The number three is joint pain. And we mentioned this many many times. But I'd say it was unexpected because when Anita was in the middle of The worst of it, I think her her primary objective was I just don't want to die. And she did.
00:05:06.779 --> 00:05:22.680
And she did mention to me on a number of occasions, she's I'm this far and if obviously can't see me in the podcast, but I'm holding my fingers about, about a hair width apart. And she said that I'm this far from having you take me to the emergency room because I feel like I'm dying.
00:05:23.040 --> 00:05:40.350
Yeah, it was scary. It was a scary place to be. And the joint pain, we know that there are foods that fight inflammation. food can be the key to so many things. You've heard people say, your let your Let food be your medicine. I think they approve, though.
00:05:37.560 --> 00:06:10.050
Yeah, they attribute that to parties, I think. But basically, it can be healing, because if your cells are not getting the nutrients they need, and then they're getting things constantly that cause inflammation, like the animal products are known to do, the oils are known to do because they're pressed out of their package, and you don't have the other beneficial things that are in there, then you're going to have pain. I've shared about my friend before he didn't eat berries for two years, because he was told carbs were bad.
00:06:06.300 --> 00:06:24.389
Well, you know, berries are one of the biggest powerhouses for finding inflammation. So if you've got arthritis, you've got joint pain that you're debilitated. And you're taking medication and doing these other things. I'm not saying medication is bad by any means.
00:06:24.540 --> 00:06:30.629
But that comes with a whole list of side effects as well. And you're still not getting relief.
00:06:27.540 --> 00:06:30.629
And then you know,
00:06:30.720 --> 00:06:33.209
you're not really getting to hear the root issue.
00:06:33.240 --> 00:06:50.040
Yeah, you're not getting to that core issue. As my cells are crying out. My body is telling me These are signs, right. My body's telling me that it needs something it's not getting and it's not getting Well, it's getting too much of the things it doesn't need as well. Now, some
00:06:50.040 --> 00:07:01.889
of the other foods you mentioned berries, but there's garlic, ginger cruciferous, which are your broccolis, cauliflower, kale, brussel sprouts, and the list goes on there quite a few in that category.
00:07:03.569 --> 00:08:13.259
And a lot of foundational foods we name these specific ones that we know are these powerhouses, the berries, the garlic, ginger cruciferous, like Jared said, but then you've got to think about the fact that all the foundational foods, all the plant based foods have the ability to get the nutrients in there that your body's telling you it needs, they're in there, mainly fiber, that's a huge thing that's in plant foods that you do not get any of in animal products. And without fiber, you're going to have inflammation, your gut bacteria absolutely require fiber, it is their food. If the good gut bacteria do not have the fiber, they cannot help you to fight inflammation. walls in your the lining of your intestinal tract can open up where you can develop autoimmune diseases. Now your body sees things as foreign, that aren't. And so now your body starts attacking itself. And you've got this whole vicious cycle of things that happen. And a lot of it goes back to the fact that you're not getting the things that you need. In the five foundational feeds. We talked about that in a previous episode, go back and check it out. We go all through the foundational feeds for you.
00:08:13.379 --> 00:08:29.189
And it's not just Anita, we've had clients to where there was one in particular who had neck pain that was I think, like a nine out of 10. And her story was remarkable, because within just a few days, her pain was almost gone. She said it's another thing that this can happen.
00:08:29.279 --> 00:09:04.889
Yeah, it's like a 9.5 out of 10 Anita and it's gone down 2.5 it's almost completely gone, eventually disappeared. She doesn't have it anymore, just from starting the simple principles that make they're just game changers and you think you get in your mind, I've got to go on some crazy diet. I've got to do something that's difficult. I've got to count calories radical. Yeah, it's got to be, I've got to hate it. If I don't hate it, if somehow it's not torture, if I don't have to deprive myself of calories, right, then there's no way I'm going to lose weight. There's no way I'm going to be able to get healthy, but it's just not true.
00:09:01.830 --> 00:09:04.889
And we bought all these lies.
00:09:04.889 --> 00:09:11.039
And all we found in this way of walking is freedom. When you know how to do it in a way that's easy, and that you enjoy.
00:09:11.279 --> 00:09:25.799
It brings freedom and then those your taste buds change. You start craving these things. This is what you want. And all of a sudden, your energy's up, your vascular changes are happening, your joint pains going away. And it's just incredible the life change that can come.
00:09:25.889 --> 00:09:36.000
But you know what the irony is, is that really, in many respects, the answer has already been around us. Oh, yeah. We just didn't know it.
00:09:32.850 --> 00:09:39.779
And that's where we were. So we're not pointing any fingers.
00:09:36.240 --> 00:09:39.779
No, we were there ourselves.
00:09:39.840 --> 00:09:53.340
I was going and looking for answers and just hoping a provider would give me some sort of name, some sort of diagnosis why so I could get some medicine? Well, again, we're not anti medicine, but sometimes not all. Were that was our
00:09:53.879 --> 00:09:54.899
that was our training.
00:09:55.049 --> 00:10:14.039
Yeah, so but a lot of times the hope is put in that medicine and the medicine are controlling symptoms, and they're not getting at the root problem that we have. And so no matter what medicine you take, even if it masks symptoms for a while, it's not going to take away the
00:10:14.100 --> 00:10:35.879
root cause. Alright, so number four, this one, I can legitimately say that this was not our plan. We weren't searching for this. But it happened. And it continues to be gone. It's weight loss. Oh, yeah. Together, we both lost about 55 pounds. And just, it blew
00:10:35.879 --> 00:11:03.090
our minds. Yeah, it really blew our minds. Because we've we've seen people struggle with weight loss, we knew we never wanted to go on a diet, we knew that diets weren't healthy, and that they could make you crazy. Basically, we knew they were stupid, not the people that went on them. We're because we're all looking for answers, right? We just want answers. And when we're trained and told, that's what we need to do, then we go from one to the other to the other. But really, we found lasting weight loss with this.
00:11:00.330 --> 00:11:23.220
And we're not the only one. So we have a client who told us not too long ago, she said, You know, I started this journey with you guys and the membership. She said, I've gone from a size 12 to a size four, I went shopping with this friend of mine, and she said Liz, yeah, look, you I grabbed like a 1012 off the rack and my friends going, you know, 1012 you need to try this for six on and she said Really?
00:11:23.279 --> 00:11:24.179
She didn't believe her?
00:11:24.208 --> 00:11:37.139
No, she ends up now she's a size four. And so we're now working on how to keep the weight on. And that's not it's not a problem. You just have to know how to do that when she reached that point. It's a totally different place to be.
00:11:37.469 --> 00:11:42.149
And it's a great place, because you're not worrying about that anymore. You're not worried about those pounds.
00:11:42.750 --> 00:11:54.690
And sometimes the answer for that is if you're getting a little too low is you just need to eat more food. I mean, what diet? You actually need to eat more food, right? But it's you have to eat the right cons.
00:11:53.429 --> 00:11:54.690
Yeah.
00:11:54.690 --> 00:12:09.269
And there's certain ones you can add back in that that can do that. We'll talk about that more later. All right, number five. Number five headaches, gone, even in scientific literature, showing people with migraines starting to eat this way, getting rid of all those
00:12:09.269 --> 00:12:10.110
people with that.
00:12:10.589 --> 00:12:22.318
Yeah, getting rid of all the additives, getting rid of all those extra things that are in there that you don't even know. I mean, you start reading about things that can be included under natural flavorings and things like that.
00:12:22.499 --> 00:12:36.629
You don't want those things in your body. You just don't. It's amazing what they get permission to put in your food and list it as a natural thing. And it's not there's nothing natural about eating that stuff. I won't even go there.
00:12:36.779 --> 00:12:38.669
Yes, not in this episode. No.
00:12:38.700 --> 00:12:44.970
But headaches, gone. I mean, they can clear up the aches and pains. Number six,
00:12:45.479 --> 00:12:54.928
it's your skin. Actually not I don't think most people would associate food with skin.
00:12:49.499 --> 00:13:04.769
But we've experienced it. We've had clients experience it. And we've heard countless stories that when people do this, that they get so many compliments, Hey, your skin, it's actually glowing. Yeah, what are you doing?
00:13:04.799 --> 00:13:12.990
And honestly, I wish I this is one of those things. I wish I could turn back time I do that. Sometimes. When my health I know I can't change things.
00:13:10.710 --> 00:13:44.159
And I know that's not the best thought process to have. But really, I think about when I was young the years that I took antibiotics that were wreaking havoc on my body that I didn't need to be on long term, just to have clear skin because my breakouts were completely severe. And we didn't know what to do about it. And if we just had known that food could be one of the big keys, it could change everything for us. We have a 16 year old daughter, we have a 14 year old son people are constantly commenting on their skin has their skin so clear.
00:13:41.070 --> 00:14:09.480
What are you doing to get their skin clear? What do you put on it? What do they take? What do you wash it with? They just eat whole plant foods. That's what they do. And that makes a tremendous difference. And we don't eat a lot of added sugars and things we get our sugars from free. So when we want to sweeten things, we'll do it with things like dates instead of white sugar. It's a it makes a huge difference on your skin.
00:14:05.129 --> 00:14:38.009
And also your hair will shine and your nails will go grow strong. this other thing people are constantly asking my daughter she loves to get her nails out. She never has to go and get a manicure and get fake nails. And people are saying Are those your real nails? Yeah, cuz they're brick hard because she eats and her body gets the nutrients and she loves eating in this way. And so that's number What What number are we on six number six. All right, so stay clear and hurt. I can't even say that healthy hair and nails. There we go.
00:14:38.250 --> 00:15:06.509
All right, so our next one is freedom. Its freedom to enjoy food without having to worry about numbers or keeping up with specific ingredients or counting this or that. I mean, we talked about food freedom with this. And freedom from all that those aspects of numbers and everything. But when we first started this that wasn't really on our radar. Are. And once we got into this and realize, you know, we don't have to do all that stuff.
00:15:06.809 --> 00:15:24.720
I don't want to count points, calories or grams if I have to do that. I could do it for a short while if I was trying to lose weight or get healthy. But in the end, you got to think about is that sustainable for you? Is that has it ever worked before long term?
00:15:19.620 --> 00:16:01.980
Well, common sense tells us even though we have all these people bombarding us with that's what you need to do. That's what you need to do. Well, common sense would tell us if we've done it before, and it didn't work. And it didn't work long term, even if it works short term, it's not going to be lasting. Why live a life that you're miserable in, there's something that you can do that's delicious, that will actually change your taste buds, that you will start to crave different foods, like I used to crave dairy, I was the Dairy Queen, let me tell you cheese, I can eat a block of cheese easy in a sitting, I'm not kidding.
00:15:57.269 --> 00:16:28.799
We ate meat every day, we ate all those things, and we've loved them. But you've got to learn the keys of how to get those things out. Not with not just saying, oh, I've got to stop eating. Now I can't eat dairy, I can't eat meat, I can't eat this. No, you've got to learn how to replace those things. Because if you just think about how, oh, I'm going to be deprived, I can't have these things, that's not going to work either. You've got to learn how to get those foods in there to replace them that are good for your body, they're gonna make you feel great.
00:16:28.799 --> 00:16:34.679
that'll change your taste cravings, and your taste buds and so many other things for you to
00:16:34.740 --> 00:16:52.559
well, and when you remove those things, it leaves a vacuum. And in nature, there's this term nature abhors a vacuum, meaning that something's going to come in and take that place. So if you don't find that delicious replacement, you're either going to fall back into that same habit or something else is going to creep in.
00:16:52.649 --> 00:16:58.919
Exactly. So we found food freedom. Next on the list is we rarely get sick.
00:16:59.789 --> 00:17:09.990
I can't remember we've had here and there we'll have times when we feel a little quote unquote, under the weather. And for a couple days.
00:17:06.299 --> 00:17:24.569
I mean, there's some different remedies and things that we do that help with that. But honestly, within two days, it's gone. I can't remember, you know, where we've had any kind of coughing type of sickness or anything of that nature, it's usually feel a little rundown,
00:17:24.598 --> 00:17:44.459
right? And I still have some things I'm dealing with my health. I was so sick when we started this years and years ago. So I've had major nada de changes. But I'm not going to tell you I'm completely healed either. I'm still walking this journey, because I know it's not a quick fix. It's just not. I mean, I spent 40 years of my life, living in the old ways.
00:17:44.459 --> 00:18:32.189
Even though I thought I was doing better. We were in healthy k tree eggs, the healthy grass fed beef, we were, quote, clean eating. And yet I ended up in the shape I was in incapacitated to where I couldn't even make the memories I wanted to make. I couldn't build the business, I wanted to be able to get out and help people like I wanted to help them. I didn't even have the energy to barely survive my day. And all those things have changed for me. So I don't want to paint the picture that everything is absolutely perfect. But as far as sicknesses and getting sick, catching colds, worrying about things, when they start going around that everybody's freaking out about we have, we don't have fear, because we just know our bodies and our immune system are the best at the top condition that they can be right now. And fear is going to make a stress and stress is going to turn on the genes that we don't want turned on and we're gonna get sick.
00:18:32.578 --> 00:18:39.028
One of the worst things that we could do because it will suppress your immune system, it makes you more susceptible to these colds. But
00:18:39.029 --> 00:18:58.500
when you learn the things that we're teaching through this podcast inside the membership inside our free group smarter, healthy living on Facebook, that's a free Facebook group, you can join and get with like minded people. You know, when you get around that and you start understanding these things, you get the power back.
00:18:52.890 --> 00:19:00.630
Now you're not just worried all the time, like what do I do?
00:18:58.500 --> 00:20:22.589
What do I do? How do I keep this from happening? You have the power back to control? Are those good genes turned on? Are the bad genes turned off? How can I change where I am today, the simple changes that I can make day by day that after the course of a year, I look back and things don't look the same. Two years down the road, five years down the road, 10 years down the road, progressively better and better. That can be your reality. That's what you need to understand, you know, a doctor doesn't have time to sit down and go over all this stuff with you in the office, even with the best of intentions. I mean, we know we're healthcare providers, we've had the best of intentions to help our patients but they can only teach you what they know. Right and set and some do know these things. And they do change the model of their practices and start teaching those things. If you don't have a doctor that does that. It's great to try to find one that does, but even if you do their time is limited. You need somebody you can ask these questions to and get the answers you need as you walk this journey out you gotta learn the simple way to do it back to really getting sick. I want to talk about some of the things you can do some simple things you can do to boost your immunity besides getting the five foundational foods, your whole plant foods, some specific ones that we use often, oregano, Tom and rosemary. They're powerhouse herbs that kill bacteria and viruses
00:20:23.190 --> 00:20:28.109
have been scientifically studied and proven to have these properties to them.
00:20:28.170 --> 00:20:34.200
Absolutely. Ginger, known to be anti inflammatory, fights different things garlic.
00:20:34.710 --> 00:21:05.880
Well, Ginger also, yeah, yeah, Ginger is also known to open up your airways. And that's been studied as well. So when you're sick, and you have a tightness in your airway. Now, I would like to say do not delay in getting medical attention if you have a problem. But yeah, you please. Like we said, we are not anti medicine. But if you're having a common cold and you're having some cough and a little bit of airway constriction, then just some ginger tea does wonders, and it's actually shown to open your airways,
00:21:05.910 --> 00:21:21.269
you can get it in some water, get some lemon in there, we actually have a recipe in our cookbook, we'll be glad to share that with you, if you'd like to go ahead and get that will drop the link down below so you can get that and that's a great thing to drink on a regular basis. We love it. But you can also um, honestly, I
00:21:21.269 --> 00:21:27.660
would even fake being sick. That stuff is okay. I'm not feeling well. Could you buy me some ginger tea?
00:21:27.900 --> 00:21:29.339
Now there better not be a rush on
00:21:29.338 --> 00:21:29.939
ginger
00:21:30.358 --> 00:21:32.548
in this grocery store.
00:21:30.358 --> 00:21:37.499
Now that you've shared that that's one of our secrets people. Okay, we love that stuff. Then the next.
00:21:38.130 --> 00:21:41.789
Yes, and this is related to your immune system, or allergies.
00:21:41.848 --> 00:22:07.828
Absolutely. Once I had severe allergy, seasonal allergies, and we just I don't struggle with us anymore. I don't even know. I think it was always around May June that I would just get these terrible, my eyes would get itchy, puffy, watery, my throat would just love to claw it out. If I could have reached in there. It was awful. And I have escaped the allergy problems. I don't take allergy medications or anything, they're gone. They're just gone.
00:22:07.858 --> 00:22:17.308
Growing up, I had severe allergies to the point where I would have I actually went through a few years of allergy injections, and they did help.
00:22:13.288 --> 00:22:27.929
But I still had allergy symptoms at like a few weeks in the spring and a few weeks in the fall where it would hit me and it would just be full on the typical the typical symptoms.
00:22:23.429 --> 00:22:57.298
But now I'm when those times hit. I might sneeze a couple times. And then that's it. So I will tell you, here's a little takeaway, it's actually been shown that having vitamin C consuming that on a regular even daily basis for up to eight weeks will decrease the histamine levels in your body by almost half. So if you can just get any kind of citrusy fruit or apples. Well honestly, it's not even just fruits. I mean, there are green leafy vegetables that have vitamin C
00:22:57.328 --> 00:23:04.888
Yeah, and we're not saying here take God and start taking vitamin C supplements because there's been detriments found with overdosing actually and taking too much vitamin C.
00:23:04.888 --> 00:23:11.278
So we don't recommend vitamin C supplements but what we do recommend is eating a lot of Whole Foods, foods and plants.
00:23:11.278 --> 00:23:19.348
Wow, you might have heard that here before and we recommend that because a lot of them have vitamin C and we don't want you to start nutrient biohacking.
00:23:16.828 --> 00:23:37.618
We're going to talk about that too, because that's something that can freak you out. And we'll be talking about that. I think that's in the next episode actually. But um, anyway, don't worry about nutrient hacking, what food has this and that get a good variety of things. We know citrus has vitamin C, green leafy vegetables habit, get your berries, they're chock full of errors
00:23:38.160 --> 00:23:39.660
are actually high in vitamin C Yeah,
00:23:39.660 --> 00:23:45.450
just eat the rainbow and enjoy it find the foods you love. And then
00:23:45.990 --> 00:23:47.400
and return
00:23:47.519 --> 00:23:57.598
and there are a lot of other chain Oh taste we left that out. And the things we taste in foods. We just kind of touched on this briefly before but there are a lot of flavors.
00:23:57.598 --> 00:24:11.009
I mean, I can eat the same foods that I years ago. And I taste things in there that I never even knew or they are flavors that were blocked probably because of the other things I was eating that were just kind of blocking those flavors. I
00:24:11.009 --> 00:24:26.099
would even say it was chemical additives and things like that that just overpowered your tastebuds and the olfactory nerves, the nerves that give you your sense of smell. whenever they're just over stimulated.
00:24:21.509 --> 00:24:27.539
They don't really pick up on these nuanced flavors
00:24:27.598 --> 00:25:10.318
and sweeter things taste sweeter. The natural sweet things nice fruits tastes sweeter. We don't you I mean, I'll make it I can make a recipe that would call for a ton of sugar. And I could use a little fruit in it and now and get it plenty sweet enough. I'm thinking how are they eating 123 cups of sugar in a cake. I mean I just can't even and it will happen for you. This is what happens and your body just doesn't it almost is like it starts rejecting the things that you used to live and you taste more salt in fades. I mean literally I can taste salty. And food so now not cranking on the salt like I used to. And that's another thing that we know not there's not healthy, but you just tear down eat salt, stop eating so much salt. What Can somebody tell me how to do that?
00:25:10.439 --> 00:25:20.548
Well, you get more of the good plant foods in your life and you won't crave them. And you'll taste it in the plant foods, right? And so you need to know how to do those types of things.
00:25:20.878 --> 00:25:25.048
There are a lot of other things that can happen that weren't 10 unexpected things that happen,
00:25:25.348 --> 00:25:31.499
where these were top 10 lists, but then here are some other things that you can expect to see.
00:25:31.680 --> 00:26:25.829
Yeah, I mean, that just commonly happen for people like reversal of diabetes, you can prevent and even reverse it, it doesn't matter how many years you've had it. Now I'm saying or as Jarrod saying that that's absolutely going to happen for you, if you start whole food plant guarantee. No, there's no guarantees. But what we do know is many, many, many people have reverse diabetes have prevented diabetes, even though they had the genes for it because their mom had it and their grandmother had it right. So we know that this is possible. The most important thing for you to do, if you have diabetes, or have issues with your blood sugar is to be followed by a health care provider, particularly if you start whole food plant based because it really is so powerful that your blood sugars can start to eventually right away, you may initially get spikes in your blood sugars, and that is normal, eventually, they can start to go down after a very short time.
00:26:25.950 --> 00:26:41.069
And when we're talking that this is a process that takes months, I mean, we've heard stories of people coming off of insulin completely in just four weeks. Yeah, so that's why you have to be watched very closely, because it's very powerful. Your blood sugar may bottom, and that can cause some serious health issues too. So yeah,
00:26:41.069 --> 00:27:41.190
so if you're gonna be followed, if you're on the medication, and it's a set dose, and then all of a sudden, your, your blood sugar start dropping and the dosage isn't changed, then you can end up in problems with low blood sugar. So you want to be followed, when you start a healthy plant based lifestyle. Again, we highly recommend having a healthcare provider that's following you, that also subscribes to this lifestyle, if at all possible in your area. Because if you start this lifestyle, and your medical provider believes and understands the science behind it, which not all medical providers do, because we're not trained in that as a general rule, we see that changing some, thankfully, and the newer doctors that are coming out, they're getting at least some training in this, because the science supports it and it has for years. And thankfully, the tide is starting to turn on that. But for now, and with the medical providers who have been doing this for a while, you might want to look specifically for a doctor who specializes in or who is maybe a vegan or healthy plant based themselves.
00:27:37.589 --> 00:27:59.160
Now another thing that happens a lot preventing and reversing heart disease, we touched on that lowering blood pressure decreasing risk of certain types of cancer in particular, and colon cancers and digestive cancers, things like that. other cancers have been linked as well and with being decreased because of healthy plant based living.
00:27:59.970 --> 00:28:42.839
And the last one I'd like to touch on are cognitive issues because the sciences emerging but I think a lot of people still don't make the connections. It has been found that the saturated and trans fats found in dairy products, meat, fried foods, many of the processed foods, they can increase your risk for cognitive issues like dementias. Now on the other side, plant based diets avoid these foods. Plus, they're rich in nutrients, antioxidants, phosphates, vitamin E's, which these will have a protective effect. Now one thing with that is that they are not saying that it necessarily versus these dimensions and cognitive declines, but they can have a protective effect going forward.
00:28:43.920 --> 00:29:15.839
Those are the 10 unexpected results that we experienced with a whole food plant based lifestyle and some other things that many people on this journey have experienced as well.
