00:01:48.480 --> 00:01:55.650
And today we're talking about setting out on your journey.

00:01:52.260 --> 00:02:45.479
What are the very best healthy plant based snacks and travel feeds that you can munch on in the car even while you're just driving around town and actually be happy about it. We'll be sharing the very best options, some that only call for simple prep inseminate. Absolutely no prep at all. One of the big keys here is to do a little thinking about what whole plant based foods you love the most that would bring you joy on the journey. Start by making a simple list of these foods that you can use to prepare for this trip and for your future travels to you can always add to the list as time goes by. So file it on your computer or someplace you can easily find it and use it again. And again. This is really simple things with no prep time, or very little prep time at all. We do this a lot of times it saves us so much time we pull

00:02:45.780 --> 00:02:49.020
this that we made, I don't know 1015 years ago,

00:02:49.050 --> 00:02:57.990
I'm not worried. I'll be looking through a notebook and I'll come up with a list and go look at this. This is our Orlando pack and trip from back.

00:02:53.370 --> 00:03:18.449
Yeah, even 15 years ago. Like look at that compared to my current list and updated and make sure I haven't forgotten anything and it just makes packing so much quicker, so much easier, and much more enjoyable to pack your favorite whole fruits. It is this simplest, easiest thing. We're talking about pre wrapped pre prepared.

00:03:18.870 --> 00:03:28.650
Fast foods. These are the real original fast feeds pack your favorite whole fruits. What are some things that you like to bring Cerd What are your favorites? I like apples.

00:03:28.889 --> 00:03:43.050
I like a good Fuji or maybe a Honeycrisp Apple because they're very quick to get and just bite into it's one handed operation because I'm usually the one driving so it's got to be easy. I don't have two hands to to manipulate stuff now.

00:03:43.289 --> 00:03:47.639
Another favorite one will be oranges but I rely upon someone to peel it

00:03:47.639 --> 00:03:59.879
for me. Yeah, I'm always sitting in the passenger seat peeling oranges passing them around the car. And that works great but you can always peel them before you go pop them in a like a silicone ziplock or something like that. That works great. But if you peel

00:03:59.879 --> 00:04:13.830
it in the car, it does work as a very nice car air freshener. Yeah. If the sun hits it just right, you see the little essential oils coming off the peels and that smell of orange makes the entire van so

00:04:13.889 --> 00:04:16.230
absolutely double duty.

00:04:13.889 --> 00:04:27.750
Just think about the things that are grabbing go. What about grapes, those are really easy things. fresh berries, strawberries, blueberries, things like that. They're absolutely incredible.

00:04:27.779 --> 00:04:35.790
Now you do have to be careful with little ones because things like blueberries if they get on the carpet could stain so you may want to just think about that when just ahead.

00:04:35.819 --> 00:04:59.759
Oh, yeah, when they were younger, we had always think okay, what are they going to drop? What's gonna get smushed into the fabric right of the seat? What are they going to drop on the floorboard and step on when they get up? What are they going to finger paint on the windows? This is reality Sisters, we totally get it. So you have to think about those things too. So in that case, apples, possibly oranges might be your best go to here. Bananas can be good too if they're not a squisher of food.

00:05:01.379 --> 00:05:06.449
be messy but a very easy peel it eat it. And I don't know, it's kind of fun. Yeah,

00:05:06.480 --> 00:05:11.250
it's easy. It comes in its own package, you think about fast food coming in a package.

00:05:08.579 --> 00:05:26.670
Well, they're already pre wrapped for you. You don't have to cut it and put it in a bowl, grab it and go. And you know, one of my favorite things, too, is thinking about, what am I going to carry all these things in, and they are these eco friendly bags that we absolutely love. There are all kinds of different brands, I can't remember the exact brand of ours. Do.

00:05:27.300 --> 00:05:29.579
I want to say eco bags?

00:05:27.300 --> 00:05:30.360
Because that's just what we've called them. Yeah.

00:05:31.050 --> 00:05:44.790
I think they're eco sacks. Sal, maybe they're absolutely incredible. They hold up. I mean, honestly, they're very strong, I can't even tell you at all, we've carried heavy appliances and things in them, you cannot break those things.

00:05:44.790 --> 00:06:52.860
We've had them for probably 15 years. And so we just toss we'll have one bag of or two bags, maybe of snack foods, but one bag of fruits, because we don't put a lot of things in there with the fruits. We don't want to smash the fruit. But you know, you can just have one bag filled with fruit if you have a big family like us. And it just makes it so easy. I can pass it around the car, the kids can pick what they want. And it just doesn't get any simpler than that. You can even consider taking along some things like pre cut melons. What about cantaloupe, watermelon, honey, G, you can buy them pre cut in the store I'm talking you don't even have to use a knife. Or you can just prep it for yourself right before you take off on the trip. It is cheaper. It does. It takes a little more time but it's not time consuming. I mean, by the time you could pull up to a drive thru window, sit there, wait in line order, get yourself get back on the road all the time it took to get off the road and back on the road. You could have been sitting with your family somewhere a little picnic table enjoying what she brought or cruising on down the road and getting to your destination faster. But maybe you're thinking I want something a little more than melons are fruit. Okay? Here's the thing.

00:06:53.160 --> 00:07:05.790
If you take dried fruit with you, we'd love this. These are great little finger feeds for especially younger children because again, they're harder to smash up. If you've got dried fruit. It works really great.

00:07:01.860 --> 00:07:36.089
But we want you to be careful about this. When you're buying products that are pre prepared like dried fruits. Always, always read that ingredients label because dried fruits are notorious for having additives like oils and oils are inflammatory. If your joints hurt every day, if you have backaches, if you're achy, if you're wondering why often a huge part of that can be the fact that you're getting a lot of hidden oils. And one way they sneak in is on your raisins.

00:07:32.250 --> 00:07:39.600
Yep, absolutely on your raisins on your cranberries the dried cranberries crisis.

00:07:40.560 --> 00:07:50.069
I think apricot, maybe figs. Everything is probably wondering why on earth would they put oils on I think it's because it can help to keep the moisture inside of the fruit.

00:07:50.370 --> 00:08:03.120
Because oils, their oil and water obviously they don't mix keeps the moisture in there and keeps them from drying out. But really honestly, from what we've seen, because we get it without the oil. If it's packaged well.

00:07:58.470 --> 00:08:03.120
It's not necessary.

00:08:03.569 --> 00:08:11.759
Necessary. These are the kind of things that you will find me standing on aisle going.

00:08:05.220 --> 00:08:16.589
Why why is this? Why? No she does. Why? Why is this in there?

00:08:11.759 --> 00:08:23.399
Oil sugars. I mean, that's a big one, just a dried fruit and eat sugar. When you try a fruit, I want you to think about this.

00:08:20.399 --> 00:08:52.049
The liquid comes out of the fruit. So then you're left with concentrated sugars. It doesn't need more sugar on it. So they are available without added sugars. I'm telling you, you can find them we even have Sun Maid raisins with no added sugar, no added oil organic, we get them at Costco, you can find them get online and search. We get dried cherries, we get goji berries, all those types of things are available dried mangoes, that's one of our favorites. Costco as well.

00:08:53.250 --> 00:09:11.370
The reason they do the sugar maybe because it's a lower quality fruit and maybe the sugars aren't developed. And they might be a little more sour. And so they add that sugar to compensate for that fact. But like Anita said, you can find these without the added sugar.

00:09:08.070 --> 00:09:13.830
Yeah, it's not fun, good quality ones that are just absolutely delicious and don't eat it

00:09:13.889 --> 00:10:03.509
right and it just takes one little step of you stopping to think instead of looking at the calories instead of looking at grams of this and grams that start reading the ingredients label. Okay, so think about trail mix. It's the same thing you can buy trail mix at the store, but a lot of times they have ingredients that are going to make you feel awful. So by the time you get to your destination, you're not going to have the energy you need you're going to be aching and not able to fully experience it. And that is not what we're going for here. We want you to get there and fully enjoy all the places you're going. So trail mix. What is it? Let's think about dried fruit and nuts. Maybe you throw in some sprouted pretzels or something like that. But I want you to think about how easy it is to do that at home. A handful of dried fruit, a handful of varieties of Nuts, mix it up in your bag, and you're good to go.

00:10:03.690 --> 00:10:11.490
And you have control over the ingredients. And you're also voting with your dollars. So whatever you buy, you're backing, always think about that, too.

00:10:11.639 --> 00:10:17.159
And if you're like us, you're gonna have all this stuff on hand anyway, because we use these in everyday life anyway.

00:10:17.490 --> 00:10:31.470
Yep. And then we love love, love granola, homemade granola, I'm talking a few ingredients thrown on a sheet pan on a silpat mat. So you have little cleanup, right? You're going to put that on there and bake it and it is so very easy.

00:10:31.470 --> 00:10:48.779
People do not realize. I mean, really Lainey was talking to us the other day, Jared sister, she said, If I had known how easy this was years ago, I would have been on this train doing this years ago. But she just she didn't know. And so now she knows. And she says it's easy.

00:10:46.500 --> 00:10:48.779
It's simple, it tastes great.

00:10:48.779 --> 00:10:53.700
And her two teenage daughters are eating this way. And it's just so simple to throw some granola,

00:10:53.909 --> 00:10:56.460
they're even also preparing this food themselves.

00:10:57.779 --> 00:11:02.159
Girl, absolute only, they not only love eating it, but they love in

00:11:02.159 --> 00:11:09.480
the kitchen. She's talking about how they've gotten so creative. Now they'll get in there and just add all these ingredients and try things.

00:11:06.990 --> 00:11:18.720
They'll take the recipe from our cookbook, and they'll just say, oh, let's try this. Let's try that. And they're getting creative and learning how to put these flavors together. And that's what we love to hear.

00:11:18.870 --> 00:11:50.700
Because it isn't just about taking some specific recipe, you've got to start with a great bass recipe. But it's about learning how to combine these things and how to swap out and substitute things, how to take any recipe. Like if I looked up any recipe online, I'm now able after years and years of doing this to go, oh, I can swap this for that. And this for that it would be so much better if it had this. Why'd they leave that out? And ooh, that would not be get in there. And it just it sounds like it would take a lot of time and in the beginning is over seems overwhelming, right?

00:11:47.070 --> 00:11:53.460
But it's not when you have somebody that can show you that's been doing this for a year. Well,

00:11:53.460 --> 00:11:58.740
now I was gonna ask you, is it gonna take years and years of experience to be able to learn these prints? And no,

00:11:58.889 --> 00:12:17.070
no, it's so quick and easy to have to know that this is possible. Now we have people that have been doing this just for a couple of weeks, and they're just blown away? How is this so easy? And how does it taste so good? Because if one of our members has tried had tried playing bass before, right, she'd been doing it for years.

00:12:14.009 --> 00:12:48.870
And she said, I just wanted it to be doable. I wanted to grab a recipe and know that it was a great place to start from because a lot of people start this lifestyle and I think what in the world, this tastes horrible, how can I do this for life, because if you have the recipes that don't work, it just, it's never gonna last. If they don't taste good, it's not gonna last. Okay, so we're gonna get back to the snack phase, we could talk whole food plant based all day. Granola, granola bars, I have a very simple recipe in my cookbook, it is really easy to do. And we'll leave the link in the show notes if you want to check that out.

00:12:49.080 --> 00:13:23.309
But really, granola granola bars are one of the quickest things we absolutely love it, we make quadruple batches, I think every time we make it, and it's just so good. I mean, you can use it as a topping on cobbler. You can use it for so many things. But best of all, it can go in your snack bag and go in your car for travel. And little hands love it. And you can make it into bars. If you'd like with little silicone granola bar makers, you just instead of crumbling it onto a sheet pan, you're going to just press it and bake it in a bar shape can get easier. And it's so worth it versus going to the store and trying to find one with the right ingredients that are gonna make you feel great and

00:13:23.610 --> 00:13:26.220
tastes good. It's excellent.

00:13:27.450 --> 00:13:29.610
I'm saying any words?

00:13:27.450 --> 00:13:29.610
Well, no,

00:13:29.610 --> 00:13:45.840
I'm sitting here thinking because before we're talking about the the messiness in a van. I don't know of any time when we've had the granola in the van that there wasn't a little bit on the carpet, however, it's dry and cleans very easily. And do you just like cereal? Yeah.

00:13:46.320 --> 00:13:54.000
Well, I mean, I don't know anybody who hasn't had some kind of Cheerios, natural or otherwise and a child snack cup when they were little. It's the same type thing.

00:13:54.029 --> 00:13:56.610
It's the same principle.

00:13:54.029 --> 00:14:03.899
Yeah, but I'll tell you this granola rivals any that you can commercially buy. Oh, like you said, it's so easy, but the flavor of it is incredible.

00:14:04.019 --> 00:14:25.110
You remember one of our members was telling us she was baking and she had somebody come in through her hand was it wasn't a realtor. It was somebody to clean or she was doing something in her home. And she said What is that smell? She walked into her house. It does make your house smell session with her. She shared her I shared with her some of it and she came back the next day and she said I loved it. I love it.

00:14:25.110 --> 00:14:51.450
That was the best granola where'd you get that? She said I made it. You made it. She said yeah, it literally took me minutes. I mean, this is how easy it is. And you know you think about doing this and you think how am I going to do this and what are people around me going to think odds are over time. They're gonna love you for it. I'm just saying. Okay, so the next thing that we can eat in the car hummus. Hummus is one of the easiest things to make.

00:14:47.220 --> 00:16:18.330
Yes, she can buy it. We're not saying you need to make all these things you can go and buy it if you find a brand that has no oil or the ingredients that you're happy with whole plant food ingredients, buy your hummus, okay, but it's five minutes literally thrown in a NutriBullet. Throw it in a blender, throw an NFA processor, beans, drain beans, a little tahini, a little dried beans, a little garlic, a little salt if you eat salt, otherwise, you can leave it out and just go with things that give you that salty kind of substitute. You can do things like a lot of lemon juice, or you can even add a little bit of vinegar. So you want to think about the things that are going to get those flavors in there that you're going to live. And then for the hummus a lot of times there's either a little chili powder in it or Keemun. Okay, just a pinch of Cayman. That is it. I have a hummus recipe and power plants cookbook. It takes literally five minutes to prepare. But you can do this, it's really hard to mess it up. Blend it until it's as smooth as you want it and pop it into a little container with a lid that you can take in the car and pass around. You might have little tiny containers that are your children can have their own container and you grab packs of baby carrots, they're already pre prepped for you. You grab the little cucumbers. I mean for goodness sake, OUR Walmart has tiny little baby size miniature cucumbers that you can just grab in a bag. Everybody can have their own bag of that their own bag of carrots.

00:16:18.600 --> 00:16:21.149
We've done that before.

00:16:18.600 --> 00:16:25.409
I was thinking that that we've bought for one pound bags of carrots and we just passed them out and everyone has their own.

00:16:25.440 --> 00:16:30.269
What is it about having their own bag, they all want their own bag. I mean, seriously, one time, I want to

00:16:30.419 --> 00:16:34.889
think of that very same thing. It's just such a treat that I have my own bag. It's mine. I don't have to share.

00:16:34.889 --> 00:16:41.250
Well, I guess when you have four kids that are in when you're one of our kids, you have three siblings, sometimes you just want you're

00:16:41.610 --> 00:16:55.620
just once you think about Andrew, you know when he our 13 year old now, but when he was younger, all he wanted was just a pack of mushrooms that he could have on his end that nobody else touched that he could just eat the pack of mushrooms. And we did it we gave it to him for his birthday.

00:16:55.649 --> 00:17:18.660
Isn't that hilarious? That's what he wanted most for his birthday. No, I got some other things. But that's what he wanted more than anything, just his whole thing just as simple things. So you take the baby carrots, you take some little bags of raw broccoli, cucumbers, cauliflower, maybe grape tomatoes, if your kids are older if they're not sliced those because those can be choking hazards. Absolutely. Yeah, those in the Grateful Dead but

00:17:18.660 --> 00:17:22.920
I absolutely love grape tomatoes with hummus. Oh, it's a favorite of mine.

00:17:22.950 --> 00:18:47.309
It's amazing just broadly and when you're cutting up your broccoli cut up the stalks to make you know you just trim the stalks and cut them up into long sticks shapes, they are amazing dippers. We call them dippers for your hummus, they're absolutely incredible. It's a thick dip, it's not going to drip everywhere. And you know what, as moms we need to think about the mess. So if you have little ones and again, they're if you're afraid they're gonna finger paint stuff you need to be more aware of the dip. But most the time those those years pass buzz so fast on my word, if they're younger, just give them the carrot. They're not even going to know they don't have the dip, let them just enjoy munching on their own bag of whatever it is. So we've got you covered we understand this real life thing you can buy premade if you're freaking out and you're thinking this is going to take too long if you think you know I could dump some drain beans and some a little bit of tahini like a little spoonful and some lemon juice and some garlic into a blender and blend it up and add whatever spices I want like some cumin and chili powder. Dude, I can have that done in five minutes. You go girl you do it. That's what you do. Okay, next Horta, Pom, this is opening up a jar draining an off the liquid and pouring it into a little bag for people so and honestly need it straight out of the camp, but it comes in a can or a jar with chiefs in it. So the juice has to be drained off and seriously, we've been known to drop down the right and just take stock and just bite it you can also kind of make it a little rounds which I like for little finger hand

00:18:47.309 --> 00:19:06.990
and that's good for at home but on the road a lot of times because it it's about the diameter of a medium larger carrot and it'll be a few inches long so you can grab it, we frequently get it at Costco, that's one of those where we get several jars and get it I believe they're organic. And so we love those

00:19:07.049 --> 00:19:12.630
and all of our children love these. I mean this is an absolutely quick and easy snack.

00:19:09.059 --> 00:19:46.680
If you don't know what they are, buy a jar and try them. They are so good. They're great on salads, and otherwise we'll talk more about those in upcoming podcast but I'm telling you you've got to get a hold of the harder POM crunchy garbanzo beans. Okay, if you're looking for a crunchy snack and you think you know the chips make me feel bad and I gotta have something crunchy and good in the car and I don't just want protease garbanzo beans are your go to you drain them you pour them onto a lined baking sheet you add your favorite spices you bake at 350 Stirring occasionally until they're done.

00:19:43.079 --> 00:19:52.529
It is that easy. I'm talking you can have them on a pan ready to pop in the oven less than five minutes. Less than five minutes.

00:19:49.440 --> 00:20:03.569
I want you to think about how easy this is. Put them in the oven bake them on 350 Check in a memory set a timer every 1015 minutes check them once they start Getting crunchy. Don't let them get too long they will get tooth break crunchy. So

00:20:03.660 --> 00:20:06.900
you can if you love that level of crunch go for it. Yeah.

00:20:06.960 --> 00:20:14.130
And you can actually buy these commercially available. But I would say 99% of the time they come with added oils.

00:20:14.460 --> 00:20:17.130
That's the hardest thing.

00:20:14.460 --> 00:20:20.250
The big thing. It's hard to find them without oil like that.

00:20:17.130 --> 00:20:35.339
Yeah, but you can and if you want to have those crunchy ones in there already made me just think there's no way I'm going to stop and bacon. Listen, it's going to be so much better than anything else you could take by the pack of pre made ones if that is how you're going to do it. Now. We love spice pecans.

00:20:30.750 --> 00:20:42.390
All you do is put those in a bowl, pour some maple syrup to quote spices like pumpkin pie spice or maybe a little cayenne.

00:20:38.549 --> 00:20:45.750
A pinch of that if you like heat, make it on a sheet lined with the Silpat baking mat.

00:20:45.750 --> 00:21:05.099
Again, that's the silicone mat I was talking about earlier. You watch them because you don't want them to burn. You toast them in your oven until they get a little bit crispy. They're going to crisp up even more when they're cold. You bake them about 15 to 20 minutes stirring once halfway through, you will never taste a better pecan in your life. Though we

00:21:05.099 --> 00:21:12.359
love those. They're gonna do these more in the cooler weather months. But cooler weather trips, any ties or whatever

00:21:12.359 --> 00:21:18.089
anytime and you talk about a good salad topping. Oh my goodness, get that on your strawberry salad in the summer.

00:21:18.089 --> 00:22:39.779
They are amazing. Why not nut butter jelly sandwiches. I mean we think about that before but when we go plant based all of a sudden it's like our brains fry out and we think we got to have something new and totally different. Think about what you're already eating that is healthy plant based that you actually enjoy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches if you choose a good whole grain bread that your body does well with okay, that has little to no oil in it and little to no processed ingredients. Right? You bro. And we even have a flatbread and in the recipe in our cookbook, but that actually is inside the membership and the membership exclusive part. But it will come out eventually. And another kick big version as we build our recipes. But I'm telling you, our members are flipping out over this. We have one member who hasn't had bread in years because she couldn't eat gluten and she said the gluten free breads, they just taste horrible. And this bread takes five minutes to throw together in a bowl. And you let it sit for about five minutes you roll it out, pop it on a dry skillet, you don't even have to old or anything. And they make the best flatbreads. And she's making and stack and sandwich with them and doing roll ups with them and baking them off and making better pizza crust and pita bread with them. And it's amazing what you can do with those things. And again, here, you could spread some nut butter and jelly and roll it up and put it in a little bag and take it with you on the road. So this is how you do it.

00:22:39.839 --> 00:22:52.200
And you don't have to stick to just peanut butter, we do almond butter, that's another one go to cash, butter, good almond butter we get at Costco, most of them have it occasionally some don't. But you can

00:22:52.200 --> 00:22:57.150
even make your end if you're really like spend a lot of time in the kitchen, it takes a little longer, but it is easy.

00:22:57.150 --> 00:23:10.109
It's just time consuming because you have to Rice them and watch them. And then you have to have something that's going to blend them up really well. There are videos about how to do that online too, if you're interested in making your own but um, and better. I mean, you can even get it organic at Costco as well.

00:23:10.140 --> 00:23:10.680
Yeah, it's

00:23:10.680 --> 00:23:12.930
super easy everywhere.

00:23:10.680 --> 00:23:19.859
One thing to note about the peanut butter though, is that you want to get just the regular kind and like you say, well we both have a look at the label.

00:23:20.220 --> 00:23:35.700
Because there are a lot of the peanut butters that are the quote unquote most or that they will add palm oils and the reason they're noticed her is because the palm oils are solid at room temperature. But palm oil is terrible for you very high in saturated fat. So avoid that at all costs.

00:23:35.730 --> 00:23:53.279
Yes. And the other thing I'd add about nut butter is you will try to look for one that says Valencia on it if you can find that you have scored, grab it and get it because Valencia the one where those peanuts are grown. It's a drier climate so they're less prone to get mold.

00:23:49.349 --> 00:24:20.279
And we do not recommend getting peanut butter from the little bins where you dump in the whole nuts and it makes it for grinders in the store. They found that when you grind them in the store like that, they're much more prone to have mold growing in them so we don't want you to have mold issues you want to avoid that too. These are the things we just love sharing absolutely love this. We do this all the time in our membership and our Q and A's. It is just so much fun sharing these things.

00:24:15.960 --> 00:24:24.839
Now, dates are wonderful. You can stuff a date with net better and that is an amazing treat.

00:24:24.930 --> 00:24:33.660
You can take a half date and wrap it around. If you've got a soft date wrap it around something like a pecan or an almond. Oh my goodness. And then you want to go the next step.

00:24:33.660 --> 00:24:46.859
Roll it in SAM if you like coconut flakes roll it in some sugar free coconut flakes. That is an amazing treat. What about sandwiches? What symptom besides nut butter? What's something you like for a sandwich?

00:24:48.630 --> 00:25:01.079
I like we make one with chickpeas, like a chickpea salad. And the way that you do it it has more that almost chicken salad, egg salad, that type of consistency. type of feel

00:25:01.230 --> 00:25:17.190
absolutely chickpea salad. That's a great idea. So chickpea salad sandwich would be incredible and yeah, Jarrod it's right. It's just like an egg salad or tuna salad. Very, very similar. It's creamy, it's got a little mustard we love putting some pickle in that

00:25:17.519 --> 00:25:22.740
is just the same such satisfaction like when you eat it, you feel like you've got something that'll stick to your ribs.

00:25:22.769 --> 00:25:47.700
I love putting our cashew cream in that to make it really just that creamy, rich, so good, or our m range dressing. I've done that before. And it's delicious. And if you want to make it more like a chicken salad, you can cut up and add things like chopped roasted nuts, you can add things like if you want to really crunchy maybe like celery or something like that. There's just so many different ways you can do this.

00:25:47.700 --> 00:25:51.809
We like to add fruit even to our so grapes are chopped up bad grapes. Yeah, that's,

00:25:52.109 --> 00:26:02.190
that's what we've done in the past classical years ago, when we were eating stuff like chicken, we'd put that so you want to take the same flavors and put them in the new dish.

00:26:02.400 --> 00:26:08.609
Enjoy them in any way. But it helps to replicate that and bring back those memories and give you that satisfaction.

00:26:08.759 --> 00:26:11.009
Now I'm craving sweets, so we got to talk about sweets.

00:26:11.009 --> 00:26:16.589
So what about and it's so funny, I say that because I don't really crave food anymore.

00:26:13.799 --> 00:27:10.140
That's hilarious. I'm just saying it's a different kind of craving. It's so different how you get broken from that. But I still love sweet she can still have sweet treats. I've shared this before. But you know, a friend of ours said to me, my husband, he needs to get healthy. You know what he needs to do? He just needs quitting sweets and upset No, he doesn't make it see I said what he needs to do is find a new way to have his sweet one that's going to fuel his body well make him feel amazing. And power it so he can go the place he wants to go do the things he wants to do on a daily basis because you can't give up your favorite things that just makes no sense. You can't eat pasta anymore. You can't eat this. All these different things. No, you just got to find a different way to have you can't have meat while still have maybe things I don't eat meat. You can't have cheese while still have to have my cheesy creamy things. So we still do that. It's just a better way. It's the best way.

00:27:10.440 --> 00:27:17.849
It's a way that makes you feel amazing. But getting that jar sweet. So banana muffins, carrot cake muffins, we love those.

00:27:17.849 --> 00:28:30.240
Those are in the cookbook, as well as oatmeal, cookie dough bites. Oh my goodness, these are so good. And then a new one we just released into the membership. Choco cookie delights. These are just little chocolate cookies, that they're amazing. And they're gluten free. They're so easy to pop into the oven and bake. And just it's so funny. You know, I tell the story about how one of our friends she ate these cookies and chills. She was running up the stairs. She's one of our children's friends. But she runs up the stairs and she looks back at me and she's got a cookie in her hand. She's taken a big bite out of it. By the time she's gotten about four steps up, Miss Anita. But these cookies are black real cookies. And I thought she might say amazing or set them but to her. That's what she was saying. These are like real cookies I saw of course they are Hannah. They are real cookies. No, no, I mean, like real ones, like the ones you get at the store. And she was just so surprised because she knows they're healthy. And she couldn't believe it and said these are the fun things to take on your trip that things that you really feel like a treat and that you can enjoy and not feel guilty about and not have to count calories or feel bad after you eat and have what we call a food hangover.

00:28:30.509 --> 00:28:44.970
One point I'd like to make is that these are things that you don't have to enjoy just on trips. I mean, you can enjoy them every day. And that's why I think one of the reasons why we enjoy it is because we're taking our everyday stuff we love with us on the road.

00:28:45.000 --> 00:29:03.599
Absolutely. And sometimes we'll do something special and do a different kind of treat that maybe we don't eat as often. Yeah, but you know, it's just so much fun to have the things that you think there are vacation foods. We eat our vacation foods a lot of the time because this is what tastes good. It's what makes us smile.

00:29:00.029 --> 00:29:14.309
And speaking of smiling, I'm just gonna say, you know, there's something that I love just as much as fade and it's a fantastic drink in my favorite cup. Is anybody with me, sister?

00:29:10.650 --> 00:29:33.839
Do you understand this? Are you the kind of woman that says look, I'm all smiles as long as I've got my favorite cup in my hand as long as I've got my favorite drink in it. Because you think you got to give up all this stuff. I used to love the Starbucks frappuccinos You know the ones in the glass jars with all the cream and the heavy sugar and I'm not even going to talk about what additives were in that on anyone to look at the back of

00:29:34.019 --> 00:29:38.160
that. Bad chemicals we can't pronounce but we still drink

00:29:38.190 --> 00:29:52.799
our frappuccinos our mocha frappuccinos our vanilla frappuccinos. We just drink them in a different way. It takes me literally we're running out the door to the basement. Now I've got to have a drink and I will blend it up within three minutes and we'll have it in our cap when we're running out the door.

00:29:52.980 --> 00:30:43.829
They're so good. It's all Whole Foods to sweeten it we use whole fruit. It's not hard to do. I mean we're talking Water cacao, some I some dates, and sometimes a little bit of vanilla. I don't do that as much anymore chia seeds to get my omegas and thicken it up. And then sometimes we'll add a little raw cashews just to give it a little bit extra creaminess. And the secret is to get just a little tiny pinch of pink salt in there. Because if you're used to drinking milk, milk is a little bit salty, it's a little bit sweet. So you want your drinks to have a little bit of that as well. And it's gonna make all the difference. So I love having chocolate milk in my cup. I love having a chai latte in my cup. I love having a really great tea in it. It's just so easy to do.

00:30:39.509 --> 00:30:46.500
And that makes me smile just a nutshell when we hit the road.

00:30:43.829 --> 00:30:59.099
Yeah, we're going to each have one or two tall tumblers, probably 20 ounces in the insulates our drink that keeps it cold. And that keeps us going the hole right on the hold on it. Just go for hours. Yeah, and I left out one of my favorites.

00:30:56.940 --> 00:30:59.099
And it's a green smoothie.

00:30:59.099 --> 00:31:12.089
Because when you learn how to make a green smoothie in a way that tastes good, it just makes you feel amazing. And you know, it's hard to find veggies when you're on the road when you're in the car. And so as you're sipping on that and eating all these other great things, you're getting those veggies in there.

00:31:12.569 --> 00:32:00.359
popcorns another easy one. It's so easy. It tastes so good. Get some popcorn and remember your hydration. We've just talked about beverages, right? So look forward to those as much as your favorite snacks. Choose one you're really loved. Get it in your beverage container. Okay, sometimes it's the little things on back on the beverages, but sometimes it's the little things I absolutely love that. We have talked today about a bazillion and one things that you can get into your car and a lot of great information. Yeah, that tastes great. This has been just a power packed episode. If you missed it, be sure to go back in here number 143. That is the episode right before this where he talked about how to prep and plan ahead to make your whole food plant based trip a success.

00:31:56.490 --> 00:32:00.359
This is not just for vacations.

00:32:00.539 --> 00:32:04.230
What if you travel for business?

00:32:00.539 --> 00:33:19.049
Right? What if you need to go out of town because you have a sick family member and everything stressful at the time you don't need the food to stress you out. Like how am I going to be feeling good to take care of my family member while I'm there. There's so many different things that this could apply to. So don't just think about vacation here.
