00:01:21.900 --> 00:01:32.370
You probably don't think of yourself as a general of an invisible army. But that is in essence what you are. And you may not think of food as artillery, artillery.
00:01:34.469 --> 00:01:37.680
Guns actually just physically spat in the mind.
00:01:38.760 --> 00:01:48.239
But you get the you get the picture. What I'm trying to say sorry about that is what is going on. That is what you Our food is. Basically,
00:01:48.659 --> 00:01:55.560
it is your artillery. I mean, it fuels your cells or your cells going to be healthy enough to win the battle.
00:01:55.709 --> 00:02:52.110
Because you're constantly faced with things, whether something's going around or not. There are always things there that can cause you to get sick or to be hurting, because your body's inflamed. And you need to have what your cells require in order to function well, to make you feel great. So you can do the things you want to do. It's never just about feeling great, you'll always hear me say, so you can because what it's really about is building a life is full of wonderful possibility. You don't want to miss out if you want to be out on your surfboard, you need to be out on your surfboard, you know what I'm saying? If you want to be making memories, chasing your kids in the park, absolutely, you should be doing that or feeling great enough to meet your friends after work. You need to be able to do those things, you've got a dream of building a business or going further than the one you already have. You need to be able to get these things to your cells so that you feel great enough to do the things you want to do.
00:02:52.710 --> 00:03:04.080
Yes, in this episode, we want to discuss things that you can do that will help to boost your immune system. So that will keep you healthy and strong, and will also help to suppress inflammation.
00:03:04.318 --> 00:03:35.038
Absolutely. And we know I had a ton of that going on back in the day. And this has made all the difference. And we just want to go through a few of the things that can really make a big difference up front. Number one, eliminate the things that are causing the inflammation in the first place. You know, a lot of times you go to a health provider, and you're just wanting answers, you're hurting so badly, you're struggling. And you just want to know what the cause is. Give me a name, just give me a diagnosis. a pill.
00:03:30.959 --> 00:05:01.918
Yeah, so I can have a pill that will make me feel better, because we all want to feel better. But sometimes those things come with more side effects. And again, Jay and I said many times before, you know we're medical professionals, we're not opposed to medication when it's needed, there's a time and a place for medication. But I think we'd all agree it's greatly ever used today, because we just want to feel better. And the truth is, a lot of times we have control over that more than we give ourselves credit for. So one of the things we need to do, the first thing is to decrease the things that are causing the inflammation, what is the root cause, not some symptom I'm having that I need to have a medication to cover up the root cause and the way we get to that is looking at the things that are known and scientifically shown to to cause inflammation, things like meat, dairy, eggs, refined sugars, oils, those are all things you want to look at removing from your life. But that's not the only thing you want to think about. Because if you start thinking about what can I not have anymore, oh, there's so many things I just can't have, then you'll get into this crazy thought process of the fact that you're going to be depriving yourself and that is just not the case with this way of living. What you want to do is focus on what can I add in in place of those things. So as one things out, when things back one things out, something new comes in, and then you're leading a balanced life that Not deprivation based,
00:05:02.250 --> 00:05:31.740
right. And the things you want to add are the fruits, the vegetables, beans, legumes, the grains, nuts and seeds. We talked about that in Episode Number nine, the five foundational foods. So you can go back and take a listen to that to get a little more info in there. But suffice it to say you want the foods that have all the phytonutrients, the things that suppress inflammation, they fight inflammation, but they also boost your immune system so that you can easily fight off bacteria, viruses,
00:05:32.278 --> 00:05:56.369
all those kinds of things. Absolutely. And then there are a lot of other things you can do. Now, we don't tell you for the next thing, we don't tell you to stop taking all supplements. But we also don't tell you to go and fill your supplement cabinet fill full of supplements. Because the truth is, if you're getting a nice variety and you're eating a rainbow of nutrients, you're going to get a lot of the nutrients you need, you shouldn't
00:05:56.370 --> 00:06:03.689
need to have to supplement with with a lot of stuff, there are a few that we do recommend. But you shouldn't need these mega supplements.
00:06:03.990 --> 00:06:30.839
One of the ones we recommend highly is vitamin D, there are studies out all the time talking about this and most people are walking around without enough. The reason being is our bodies make it when they're out in the sunshine. And even if we live in hotter climates like Jared and I do, you still there's still some chilly times or times that you just don't get enough of it during the day because we spend so much of our lives inside no matter how you're eating because your body makes it in response to the sun.
00:06:31.019 --> 00:06:46.769
And if you use sunscreen, it blocks the ultraviolet radiation that actually is what makes the vitamin D in your skin. So if you do that, to help protect yourself, you are actually stopping the vitamin D production. So an easy way to correct that would be with a supplement.
00:06:46.800 --> 00:07:07.379
And this is a very simple thing that can be checked by your physician or your physician, assistant nurse practitioner, when you go into the office. Ask them if you don't know if you've had one run, ask if your vitamin D levels been checked. If you if it hasn't, please make sure they check it because this can cause all sorts of problems has been linked with things even such as cancer
00:07:07.408 --> 00:07:17.759
cancer, actually poor sleep at night, if you have difficulty, it could be because of the vitamin D. But it's also known that low vitamin D levels cause your immune system to be weak. And
00:07:17.819 --> 00:07:32.759
this is a problem that I was having mom was extremely low, no one ever told me to have it checked, I was quite a bit younger at the time. And nobody really recommended that or even talked about it. So we want you to be aware of these things. And B 12 is another one that we recommend.
00:07:33.029 --> 00:07:41.490
Yes, it has been shown that low b 12 levels can cause you to have lower white cell counts, which would make you susceptible to infections.
00:07:42.088 --> 00:08:11.459
Okay, so now we have decrease or eliminate meat, dairy, eggs, sugar and oil as much as possible. And then to fill those empty places with more fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, all the deliciousness of healthy plant based living, then you want to make sure that your vitamin D and B 12 levels are good. And if not get a good supplement around those. Now the next thing that you want to do is make sure you're eating the rainbow. Get a variety
00:08:11.610 --> 00:08:12.389
every day,
00:08:12.689 --> 00:08:54.269
every day, it's one of the best things that you can do because in that variety of color. And you know, we've talked about that before, make sure that even within one category like LEGO games, that you're getting a variety of different ones, you're not just getting Baines you're getting lentils and peas. And within the bean category, you're not just eating Pintos and black beans, you're getting kidney beans, garbanzo beans, and all these different Yeah, amazing, amazing options. Don't make it boring for yourself. Yeah, it's nice to have some that you're getting on a regular basis. But just make sure that you're getting a variety of foods within each category. And also look at the color and eat the rainbow.
00:08:54.720 --> 00:09:19.620
Now number see episode number 16. We talked about herbs and spices, that's you want to bump those up because they do have antibacterial antiviral effects. So what those do is directly affect the whatever is going on with you. But they can also help boost your immune system. So it's almost like calling in another army to come help you fight off whatever's going on.
00:09:19.889 --> 00:10:59.700
Absolutely. But we want to make sure that you understand that, even though chaired and I talk a lot about fruits and vegetables and grains and what you don't need to eat and what you do need to eat and getting a couple of these supplements that can help build your immunity and eating the rainbow and it's all centered around food and nutrients. We want you to know that when we work with clients and as we're talking to you we want you to understand it's not just about the food because we always say you know you can get all the broccoli and all the kale or all the collard greens in the world and your plate might be overflowing with those every day. But if you don't get the right amount of sleep, it You're overly stressed, if you don't move enough, if you aren't paying attention to your relationships with others and with your Creator, who you were created to serve, and love and live for, if you don't get outdoors and get your bare feet in the sand or the soil or on the ground, these are all things that we talk about. And we know that they're scientifically proven to help boost your immunity. If you want to have a life in which you feel your absolute best, you can't ignore any of those areas. And we don't tell you all this to worry or make you freak out. Oh, no looking at any of that stuff right now. That's when we start with food, because that's the one thing that majority of people have trouble understanding and wrapping their head around. And when you do something like you see a Forks Over Knives movie, or you see what the help maybe which by the way, if you haven't seen those, you definitely need to go see those. Now. A lot of them are available for free or very cheap through Amazon Prime.
00:10:59.850 --> 00:11:01.049
And they're very eye opening.
00:11:01.110 --> 00:11:56.070
Yeah. But once that happens, and you're left, you're just going, what do I do now, I now I know I want to get more of these things in my life and get the other stuff out. But how do I do that in a way that is really easy for me to do, that I'll enjoy so that I can do it forever. And possibilities open up for me. And that's where we come in. And that's our heart and passion is showing people how to do that in a way that works for them for the long term. So that you're not dealing with another situation where you're living in a way that you just don't enjoy, because our days are numbered. I mean, even if we live 107 years, we want to enjoy our every day. And a lot of times we're focused on this end result, we've got to get to this place. And it doesn't matter if the path is miserable or not. We just got to do what it takes and, and stick to the path and you know, pound it out and make it happen. And really that's just its misery.
00:11:56.129 --> 00:12:00.120
But what happened to that goal? What got you there?
00:12:00.419 --> 00:12:06.389
You it might keep you there? But are you going to want to do that forever? You always say is this something for the long term?
00:12:06.419 --> 00:12:08.220
Yeah, in most cases? No,
00:12:08.279 --> 00:12:21.600
it's not. And so what we found is once you get that key in place, and you know how to do that, and you have a simple system that you can follow to get you in with the food part of it from point A to point B, where I'm no longer overwhelmed.
00:12:21.600 --> 00:13:46.139
I just don't know where to start. What do I eat for breakfast? How do I get these flavor profiles? Right? How do I make recipe upgrades, you know, you get all those things in place. Now, you're gonna keep learning and growing in that area that never stops, you want to be around the community that builds that for you. You want to be dis tied in with people who can show you how to do that. And then you want to start giving back and sharing your journey because people are going to get ideas from you with that. But then you move beyond the foods, what else is happening there, all these different areas of sleep, tons of things you can do to improve your sleep, not just the amount of sleep but the quality of your sleep. I mean, one simple thing you can do is just get off the computer at least an hour before you get a bed, not just turn him from the blue lights. Although you want to do that you want to start turning on things like flux or different kinds of apps that will take your light, the blue light off your screens, but any light coming in your eyes, it's bright, the lights need to dim in your house, you need to be off all screens at least an hour before bedtime. And give yourself a chance to one down I heard somebody talking about this, like a plane trying to fly into a barn, you know, you're you're trying to just slam it in there when you're ready for it to get into the hangar and it's just not gonna work, it has to be able to throttle back and get ready for the landing. And you've got to do the same thing for your body
00:13:46.169 --> 00:14:12.059
when our bodies follow the normal daily cycle. And up until probably about the last 100 years. Our artificial light would be things like fires and candles and lamps near the oil lamps and things like that. So they weren't very bright. So our brains could say, okay, it's nighttime and start adjusting for that. Now we watch these large screen TVs, computers, phones, everything. And then we expect to turn them off and boom, fall right asleep.
00:14:12.149 --> 00:14:31.740
It just doesn't happen doesn't work, though. And you found yourself laying there and you can't go to sleep and you don't know why. And there are a lot of different things that can play into that. This is one of the big things, but there are a lot of other biggies that we teach about and you need to know about because those can be it can just be one simple thing. We call that profound knowledge.
00:14:29.039 --> 00:15:26.309
Just the one simple thing. I think we got that Tony Robbins she's that I think we heard him say that one time. But just it can be something so simple. And you listen to anything that's so simple, but then you do it. And that's when it all changes. You just start implementing those little things and step by step by step. Do you know if he just did one new thing every week for a year, you'd have 52 new things and your life just would be different. Everything can change. If you look back at the end of that year, it can all change. But we think it has to be this big, amazing thing. And yeah, sure, if you go in and put yourself all in, it's gonna all look different. But really just making those simple changes and doing it taking action on the things you learn. Don't just go, Oh, that sounds like a great idea. I love that one. And great when they talked about that, no, it's when you take action, and the rubber meets the road.
00:15:23.580 --> 00:15:42.779
That's when everything starts to look different. And you find the things that lasting will work for you for the long haul. These are all areas you need to work on. It's not just about the food, Jared. And I don't think that at all. And we really focus on that in the in the beginning, but we want you to understand these other areas are crucially important to your health as well.
00:15:43.320 --> 00:15:58.139
All right, well, that wraps it up, we've shown you several different things that you can do to boost your immunity. So grab one of those run with it, let us know how it goes. We'd love to hear from you. And we have people joining us from all over the world now.
00:15:54.360 --> 00:16:13.529
