00:00:00.358 --> 00:00:55.048
In the sunshine and fresh air, which we left. So that kind of brings us to the topic we're talking about today because Jared was talking about how this is a new thing. 00:00:55.649 --> 00:01:04.319
Hey there, friend, we're so glad that you could pull up a chair and join us today. Maybe you're not pulling up a chair, maybe you're out walking, maybe you're cooking, perhaps you're getting ready for your day,
00:01:04.349 --> 00:01:07.590
you might even be driving, but keep your eyes on the road, hands on the wheels.
00:01:08.640 --> 00:01:18.510
Wherever you are, we're so glad to have you with us today has been absolutely beautiful here, we hope you're having some fantastic weather.
00:01:15.390 --> 00:01:25.799
We just come out of a stint of some rain. So we're thrilled to see sun shining in the sky. The birds are out in full force.
00:01:22.290 --> 00:01:33.659
I've been sitting out back enjoying the sunshine for a little bit before the podcast talking to a friend of mine. And I think Jarrod is getting ready to take off here for a little bit.
00:01:33.689 --> 00:01:49.079
We even have some plans to do some bike riding and go and do something actually new that we just started recently pickleball our neighborhood actually has a pickleball court are actually several pickleball courts. And Anita surprise us with some paddles and the little pickle balls
00:01:49.290 --> 00:01:50.280
are so much fun.
00:01:50.310 --> 00:01:55.739
They're really awful balls. For you to be able to imagine that. But it's it's a lot of fun.
00:01:56.039 --> 00:02:35.068
Yeah, the kids are super excited about getting back out there today to play pickleball in the sunshine and fresh air which we left. So that kind of brings us to the topic we're talking about today. Because Jared was talking about how this is a new thing. We haven't been playing pickleball that very long. But it's funny because you start doing something new and you think, why haven't I been doing this before. That's how you discover the things that you love. And we want you to know that we're always talking about trying new things be open to trying new things. Because when you do that, and you put those plans into action, you find things that you really have been missing out on that can make you feel incredible, and just be things you enjoy.
00:02:35.129 --> 00:02:45.300
And these things can even be around you for quite some time. So in our neighborhood, we've been here a little over a year pickleball courts have been there, and we've driven by it or in our bikes by the number of times.
00:02:45.750 --> 00:02:58.169
And so many times I've said hey, we need to look that up, see what the rules are see how much it is to get some paddles. And I think Anita finally got tired of hearing me talk about and she's winning surprise me to some and it's a lot of fun,
00:02:58.229 --> 00:03:32.189
it is a lot of fun. Well, the other thing that we're doing that's new here is we have been what we've bought sprouts, a lot of times in the past to add our salads to add things and you know, we're always talking about getting more nutrients. And we're telling you, you can do it this way and that way. And we've got set up a specific course a framework that you can follow to simply get you from where you are to where you want to be through whole plant foods, you know, we're big on it needs to be easy, it needs to be enjoyable, and it needs to be delicious. Those are our main pillars that we teach around.
00:03:32.340 --> 00:03:35.879
Because we know if it's not easy, and if it's not enjoyable.
00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:40.770
And if it's not, if it doesn't taste good, you know, you're not going to continue to do that forever. And so
00:03:40.800 --> 00:03:43.590
become a lifestyle won't become a habit for life.
00:03:43.649 --> 00:04:00.748
Exactly. And so what we have done is we we go and we buy these things like sprouts, and they're so that can be expensive. That's not really inexpensive. But it's worth it in the long run. Because you have to get in your mindset when you go and buy these things. Do you think, oh, that's expensive?
00:04:00.778 --> 00:04:18.149
Well, the truth is whole plant food and eating this way, is probably one of the least expensive ways that you can eat and then you add in the factor of how great it makes you feel how you can accomplish all these things so much faster than you could before how you're no longer sitting in all these doctor's visits, you're not
00:04:18.149 --> 00:04:25.889
the healing that happens. And then you're not having to take these medications and you're not having the open heart surgery, that's 50,000 or more dollars,
00:04:25.889 --> 00:04:50.699
right? So cost is kind of it's a mindset issue really. And then and then there's this the literal many of the things are super cheap, like how expensive is rice, how expensive is beans, how expensive are potatoes, really, that's expensive. So then we get this, this idea that it's going to be expensive, and we can show you how to do it in a way that's not and so we're constantly testing and trying new things and around sprouts.
00:04:50.730 --> 00:04:56.670
You know, we thought one day we were talking about it. It's like why don't we grow them at home?
00:04:53.189 --> 00:05:25.019
I mean, we keep hearing how simple this is how easy this is well Jared and I are going to let you in on a little secret, we're about to grow our first sprout. So we don't just tell you, hey, try something new, we're never going to tell you to do something that we aren't willing to do ourselves. So that's a constant thing. You know, if you're learning and growing and constantly trying new things, you're just going to get healthier and better. And what area of life that is that you're doing those things. So always keep growing eyes, keep learning,
00:05:25.079 --> 00:05:30.959
and you're gonna find new things that you like that you didn't know about before that you didn't know that you didn't like, because you can try them out.
00:05:32.160 --> 00:05:34.379
Wow, my mom's kind of in a maze, right?
00:05:36.779 --> 00:05:37.589
well know what you mean?
00:05:37.619 --> 00:05:55.588
Yes. If you don't know of these things, or if you haven't tried them, you won't know if you like them. So if you try the something new, you may realize, like with pickleball, like I've been passing by it for a year saying, Oh, we need to do this. And then we finally did like, wow, this is fun. We've missed out on this for a year.
00:05:53.158 --> 00:06:02.699
Well, we don't want you to do that. We don't want you to miss out on something that's very healthy for you something that you may enjoy. So we want you to live a life with no regrets.
00:06:02.790 --> 00:06:56.939
Okay, so Jared, I go here because I don't want to cause too much pain. But this goes into other areas like before, in our lives when we've owned houses, and then we've moved a lot you guys may not be aware of this. But we've moved a lot for one reason or another. That's always been the Father's plan for us. And so we've been no methods. No, we're not in the military. You know, we get all these questions around that. But it seems that every time we move, and we go to get a house on the market, we always do those projects that we know will make the house beautiful and enjoyable for somebody else. And what's the thing we say after we get it done? I'm thinking specifically about we had this little desk area in our house, it was right next to our kitchen. And we used to all the time, but it was taught both from mica and it was older and it was just an area that really it would have cost very little probably to get a slab it will ended up not being that expensive to get just a piece
00:06:56.939 --> 00:06:59.399
of marble that match the marble that was in our kitchen.
00:06:59.399 --> 00:06:59.519
So
00:06:59.519 --> 00:07:01.170
it was green it green or green. I'm
00:07:01.168 --> 00:07:01.678
sorry, yes.
00:07:02.250 --> 00:07:11.250
So we bought the green and we get that on there. The house is that for sale. And we're living there for a couple of weeks before we sell it.
00:07:07.170 --> 00:07:11.250
We're going Why in the world?
00:07:11.250 --> 00:07:16.649
Have we not done this before? I mean, we could have enjoyed this, why are we always sending it out for somebody else? I think,
00:07:17.160 --> 00:07:56.220
well, that is because then it became necessary because we want to try to sell it and get the most for it. But it's also helped to them it is it is and I think that the pain of Oh, I don't know how to do this, oh, it's gonna be expensive. And then you just kind of fall back into normal routine in that same house. And here I'm telling myself, we had a fireplace that was gas powered. But the little switch that turned it on and off, didn't didn't work. And so for over five years, we were in that house and that fireplace would have been nice to have on some of those colder winters.
00:07:51.959 --> 00:08:10.589
But I ended up taking some time getting on YouTube, getting it well yet when it was for sale, getting it on are going on YouTube, finding out. And it was about a $50 valve that all I had to do was replace that. Now once I knew how to do it, it took only about an hour or two.
00:08:10.620 --> 00:08:18.959
And then we're all just standing around it as a family picture all six of us standing there, the two of us with our children, looking at the fire going, this is so beautiful.
00:08:18.959 --> 00:08:26.430
It's so great. And we're sitting there thinking why in the world did we wait till we got to the point where we were getting ready to sell
00:08:26.459 --> 00:08:42.419
now an excellent point to piggyback off of that is if I had had someone that had said, Hey, Jaron, this would be so easy, it's probably a valuable cost of probably about 50 bucks and a couple hours worth of your time. It's this, this and this, let
00:08:42.419 --> 00:08:43.889
me show you how to do it.
00:08:43.948 --> 00:08:50.938
Exactly, then we wouldn't have lived in the house for five years with a non functioning fireplace. Now we did also have young kids. So there was a safety issue there.
00:08:50.938 --> 00:08:54.839
So that also led a little to the procrastination. But again, we put
00:08:54.840 --> 00:08:57.659
off the things that are simple, and they're right there that are that
00:08:58.139 --> 00:09:00.629
are simple, but we just don't know that they're simple.
00:09:00.659 --> 00:09:14.309
And I, I've seen a number of people where I think that holds true for whole food plant based living because you're in a routine of your meat and dairy and your recipes that you cook or prepare over and over again.
00:09:11.399 --> 00:09:20.429
And then anything outside of that you think, Oh, this is hard. I don't know how so it must be difficult, right? I'm just gonna do what I've always done.
00:09:20.519 --> 00:09:38.490
And then when you adopt it, and you start living the plants, the whole food, plant based lifestyle, and it brings you this healing and you feel amazing, and I've got energy all day long. And if you're like me, you have to force yourself to go to bed when before you are barely surviving just an hour after you got up. And it just makes such a huge difference.
00:09:38.490 --> 00:10:02.009
And you think, wow, you know, why in the world didn't somebody tell me this before and that's one of the reasons we're so passionate about sharing this message is the reason we've set up the membership so we can provide people just to know exactly what to do because we've been there. We know what it feels like and we know what would have helped us as we had progress through if we just had somebody to show And that's the reason we do this podcast
00:10:02.070 --> 00:10:05.070
as to try to get the message out to more and more people.
00:10:05.100 --> 00:10:05.639
Yeah.
00:10:05.669 --> 00:10:12.120
So if you know anybody that needs this message, please share it with them, family members, friends, co workers life
00:10:12.120 --> 00:10:57.629
changing, they'll thank you it is just it's life changing. So we're all that to say, don't wait, start making the changes. Now, don't think I've got to do everything all at once. Sure, if you've waited until you're at a point where things are critical, and you're very, very sick, things can still change. Don't ever accept the notion that just because some disease name has been slapped on you, that now you are that disease, or that is your fate, it's never too late to start making changes. And people have come back from late stage problems of all types, by eating and living this way. So just make the changes that you can make and make as many as you feel are necessary at this point. And that you can do.
00:10:57.659 --> 00:11:01.139
And don't worry if when you make those changes, they aren't perfect in the beginning.
00:11:01.169 --> 00:11:01.919
Exactly.
00:11:01.980 --> 00:11:06.779
Because then you learn.
00:11:01.980 --> 00:11:49.679
So if you create a meal recipe, and it's not exactly the way you thought it would be, well, you tried it, you learn from it, and then you make a tweak, maybe you followed it perfectly, but it doesn't taste exactly the way that you want, you want a little bit of this herb, or that spice or less of one ingredient. I mean, whatever. I mean, a lot of times with recipes, we have to reduce the salt or the sugar, because a lot of them just have way too much. But if that happens, you learn from it. It's not really a failure, if you learn from it was a learning experience. And if you go in with the right attitude of Hey, I'm just gonna try something new. And you do it, do it with a family member. And then you've had that time together, and you've made it fun. Or like Anita says, throw on a podcast while you're doing it and or listen to some great music. So that time hasn't been a waste.
00:11:49.799 --> 00:11:53.220
Exactly. I'm all about multitasking, I love that.
00:11:53.309 --> 00:11:58.440
That's my favorite way to listen to podcasts, if I'm cooking, or I'm getting ready in the morning, something like that.
00:11:58.529 --> 00:11:59.580
And she does do that I
00:11:59.580 --> 00:12:00.779
can vouch for that.
00:12:00.870 --> 00:12:28.919
Yeah, I love it. But all that to say, this is why we're doing this, because we're constantly still learning and growing. And we're going to share our journey with you, you know, we want you to be a part because as we learn, even the new things after doing this for years, you know, we were learning these new things still, and we're going to put them into practice, when we discover something, we're going to try it, we'll let you know how it goes. This worked. Well, that didn't work well. So we're going to start growing some sprouts.
00:12:28.919 --> 00:12:50.850
And we're just going to do the simple method of the ball jar method. If you don't know about that, we'll explain a little bit more to you about it as we learn more and try it out. But we're going to order some seeds. And we're going to get our set up and be rinsing our seeds and draining those a couple of times a day. And within about five days, we should have some sprouts of starting the process.
00:12:47.399 --> 00:12:52.559
And we're going to try that and just see how it goes. Now
00:12:52.559 --> 00:13:41.460
you may be asking, Well, why would I want to grow sprouts, what's really the benefit? What's in it for me, they're extremely healthy. Now we have like you need was saying we have bought these before, it was a little package, it was about $4. And I don't know the package was something like four by four inch square, maybe five by five inch square. It wasn't huge, right? But when you grow it yourself, the cost will be lower. I mean, it just will be if you find a good supplier of seeds and you get your equipment. Usually it's a one time investment, and then you get to use it over and over again. But you control the quality of what it is. I don't know, this about the sprouts we bought were organic. But maybe you can find better quality seeds, right? And then you control the growing process too.
00:13:37.860 --> 00:13:52.230
And I know for certain things like broccoli sprouts, getting them within two to three days of them actually growing is the optimal for a nutrient in there called sulforaphane. That's opposed to de phi,
00:13:52.230 --> 00:14:05.669
is it day five. I'm thinking day five is the ultimate. So I've seen people take and freeze them and they say that it even maintains this sulforaphane for about I was thinking actually couple of days. It can it can increase.
00:14:05.669 --> 00:14:25.289
I've heard it but it maintains or increases it for. Again, they're saying about five additional days. And so if you portion out your growth, you can't clip them off. And after five days, obviously, we've got seven to learn here, but we're going to learn and we're going to share it with you guys. So we can go in more about harvest size and let you know how the experience was
00:14:25.320 --> 00:14:40.889
if you're asking what is sulforaphane? We will go into that in a later podcast, but it is something that has some extremely powerful health benefits, I mean even helps to fight cancer. But even recently, we've learned it's got some other benefits, I believe some anti inflammatory benefits
00:14:40.948 --> 00:14:52.678
well, and it's in a lot of different fruits and vegetables, particularly cruciferous, but the amount that you get in sprouts is significantly higher than if you would eat something. Broccoli.
00:14:50.519 --> 00:14:52.678
What I had
00:14:52.679 --> 00:14:59.639
learned is is it is not an all cruciferous though like kale doesn't have it. That's true. Broccoli is an hesitant high amounts.
00:15:00.000 --> 00:15:06.090
So Sam cruciferous has it more than others. Correct. And the sprouts have even more.
00:15:06.600 --> 00:15:14.159
Yes. which surprised me, I didn't realize that until we started talking about doing the sprouts and really researching into it more.
00:15:14.940 --> 00:15:42.029
We are excited to try this and take you guys along for the journey. So in a little bit, it won't be the next podcast episode but a little bit down the road. Keep an eye out and listen, because we're going to let you know how the journey goes, what we've learned along the way, we may even be bringing somebody on to talk about this, I think that might be a really good idea, someone else to join us and share their experiences and what works well, too. So thank you for joining us today.
00:15:42.029 --> 00:16:14.460
