00:00:56.039 --> 00:01:13.439
Hey, friends, we're so excited to have you with us today on smarter, healthy living. You know, this evening when we were eating dinner chair, not just took our bowl. So you know, we usually eat at the table with the kids. But tonight, we had a long day, we both worked hard.

00:01:10.049 --> 00:01:42.329
And we just grabbed our bowls and went out to the back porch and opened up the little dinner break. Well, we open up the screen door and just busted out to the back patio and sat out there by the water and just started talking about what would you do? And this is funny because I kind of brought this up to him. I looked at him and said, What would you do if you could start your whole food plant whole food plant based journey all over again, to make it easier? And just to make it more enjoyable for you. Like if the if you just knew this one thing in the very beginning?

00:01:42.659 --> 00:01:52.049
What would make it that much more enjoyable and make you look forward to what was coming up for you? And you know what he said? Well, I

00:01:52.469 --> 00:02:27.509
but I didn't say it right away? Because that was an excellent question. And I thought, I don't know if I can really condense it down to just one thing, because there's so much about it. That's, that's good that we enjoy now. But after a few moments, I boiled it down to that you don't have to limit yourself, this is not a lifestyle of deprivation that you can eat until you're satisfied. And that actually has a couple different levels to it.

00:02:23.009 --> 00:03:03.210
It is you can eat as much as you want as far as quantity. Now we don't recommend eating until you're completely stuffed. But you can eat until you're full, which so many diets and I'm doing air quotes over here diets, it's a restriction, you eat this bland food. And you can only have this little cracker and that's your meal. And that's not satisfying, no. So we can eat as much as we want until we're satisfied. But it's also the quality of the food, that the quality of the food is delicious. It's comforting it It fills your stomach helps to describe it. Yeah, I

00:03:03.210 --> 00:03:43.979
talked about you know, we would go out to eat and we'd order a meal. And then we would be thinking, I want more, I'm not full, even some of the bigger meals just because it wasn't really nutritionally dense, and your body's just still hungry. It's not because you're a glutton, you're just hungry, you're really, really hungry. And with this way of eating, it's just naturally fills you up faster. And there's many different reasons why that is. But it just is wonderful. So this is something that can really make you look forward to this journey when you're just thinking about it, or just getting started just knowing that as you go, you're not going to have to feel deprived. I think that was a great point.

00:03:44.009 --> 00:03:44.849
And I will ask

00:03:44.849 --> 00:04:16.920
you, our listener, what is the one thing that if you knew would make all the difference? Because I think from our perspective, we hear a lot of people. And we hear a lot of responses and get a lot of feedback. And I think that's one of the things in the very beginning is that they think they have to diet. They think they have to limit the portions and it has to be this cardboard type food. And that's just not true. So I think with that one little mindset shift if people realize that, they might say, Hey, I can get on board with that, that that sounds intriguing. Tell me more.

00:04:17.040 --> 00:04:20.189
Absolutely. Absolutely.

00:04:17.040 --> 00:05:05.819
That's a great point. And I think for me, it was just I mean, it kind of goes along with that just knowing that you don't have to do them miserable patterns that you've been trying to do, like counting calories and counting points, portion control as part of that keeping up with grams and macros and all these crazy things you're taught that you have to keep up with and you just need formulas of things that are going to work for you that aren't going to drive you nuts that you're not going to have to keep up with all these numbers and things people are, you know, like if you go out to eat with your friends, okay. And you're sitting there at the restaurant, everybody else is having a great time they're enjoying it. You're busy looking over the meal, trying to add up numbers to figure out What you can have, like, That's no way to live.

00:05:02.250 --> 00:05:08.459
It's just, it's miserable. And that's absolutely not necessary eating this way.

00:05:08.490 --> 00:05:21.120
I envisioned somebody pulling out a book, although I guess now really would be an app on your phone, but pulling it out and calculating and someone looking at you, you're scrolling through Facebook. Now I'm counting up all my macros and my

00:05:21.180 --> 00:05:23.579
grammar. This varies.

00:05:24.029 --> 00:05:40.829
Yeah, and there's no food freedom with that. It really isn't. And you can do that in the beginning, especially if you're trying to hit a certain number. But after a while, you're gonna think, dear Lord, why can't I just sit down and enjoy my food? What can I sit down to eat? Yeah,

00:05:40.860 --> 00:05:45.569
I just want a meal. Just I just want to eat and enjoy it and visit with my friends and family. I

00:05:45.569 --> 00:05:53.879
don't want to feel like this is some kind of science experiment where I've got to get so many milligrams of this and micrograms of that I just want to be normal. Like,

00:05:53.879 --> 00:05:58.139
it's the thing of math, math. flashbacks. It's like a math nightmare

00:05:58.230 --> 00:06:00.240
really is a mad scientist? Well,

00:06:00.779 --> 00:06:11.220
yeah, I guess I mean, they're a little bit of this and that, and you got to know how many grams of this you add. And that? Yeah, that's a good point.

00:06:08.279 --> 00:06:33.029
Actually, I hadn't even thought about it that way. But, and in the end, what happens? I mean, what are your results? It's like a mad scientist explosion. It just doesn't work. It just doesn't work. I thought for sure. Right there. You give me some kind of sound, backup, you know, some kind of explosion noise or something? I know you didn't do it. Oh, there it is.

00:06:30.389 --> 00:06:33.029
There it is

00:06:33.240 --> 00:06:34.050
a little delayed there.

00:06:34.500 --> 00:07:15.839
But anyway, I just think, you know, if you could know what was coming, if you knew all the things that you were leaving behind that you want to get rid of, and you just can't even dream that it's possible. I mean, just the the health issues that are holding you back, those kind of things, all the last time that you spent sitting in the doctor's office, or time that you spend trying to figure out what's going on, when you can start reversing some of those things and get freedom from it. It's hard to believe all the different things that can change in your life. I mean, blood pressure can come down blood, blood sugar naturally can come down, which is really important that you be followed by your doctor because of these things.

00:07:16.288 --> 00:07:35.309
Because you may end up getting overmedicated. If you're on medications. And as your body is healing, then those levels drop and then you have too much medicine. And that, you know, a lot of people want to think if a little is good, more must be better. And in some things that may be true. But for medication, that's not.

00:07:35.848 --> 00:07:57.718
But to make it work, you really just need to learn formulas that are going to work for you that are enjoyable, that you don't even have to think about and how to make your food taste great. You know, I am all about making the flavor. Be incredible in your feed so that it's delicious. It's got to be easy, enjoyable and delicious.

00:07:54.598 --> 00:08:01.978
We always talk about that simple, enjoyable and delicious.

00:07:57.838 --> 00:08:01.978
And to make it really tasty.

00:08:01.978 --> 00:08:31.678
You've got to get those flavor profiles right. You know, I'm all about making recipe upgrades. We train people all the time. How do you make your comfort foods turn those your favorite comfort foods into your upgraded recipes, your comfort foods 2.0 that's what we like to call it because we still eat all those amazing things. We have mac and cheese we have what are the things we eat burgers we eat? What else burgers, chili, we still eat pizza tacos, sushi.

00:08:28.949 --> 00:08:31.678
She

00:08:31.680 --> 00:08:32.429
loved that one.

00:08:32.460 --> 00:08:34.500
Absolutely. shepherd's pie,

00:08:34.529 --> 00:08:39.929
shepherd's pie The Brunswick stew. That was a favorite. Yes, we still enjoy that.

00:08:40.110 --> 00:08:44.250
We have our pasta dishes, our rice dishes, we have desserts, we have our favorite sweet

00:08:44.818 --> 00:08:49.979
desserts, and we still have ice creams. Absolutely not made with dairy

00:08:50.009 --> 00:08:53.129
tonight we have banana pudding. Yeah, it was fantastic.

00:08:53.370 --> 00:09:09.600
didn't miss out on anything. It was just really good. And you've got to have food that satisfying. We get that that's so important. But we want you to know when you're starting this journey, you have something to look forward to. Because it's not about what you're losing.

00:09:06.870 --> 00:10:02.070
You're going to learn how to put wonderful things in the place of those things that are going away things that you're choosing to set aside, you've got to know what to set aside you've got to know how to set it aside in a way that you don't miss it anymore, and get those wonderful things in their place. And you know, they're probably a lot of things you're already enjoying that are healthy plant based or can be easily switched out very quickly, so easily. It's just so much more easy than what we thought it would be. And then everything's changes as your body gets used to having the good stuff. Even your taste buds change your taste perceptions change. So now you're eating foods that maybe you didn't like before. Now you love them or you like them okay, but now you crave them. I mean that's how it is. It This is the reality of living this way we are thrilled for you. Whether you're looking forward to just starting a plant based lifestyle or Have you been on this journey for a while and you think,

00:10:02.370 --> 00:10:02.879

I just don't know what to do. I mean, we have members that had tried whole food plant based before. And they just couldn't figure it out. They didn't have the formulas they need. They had little tips and tricks and hacks and things that they were trying to piece together. And they just could not seem to figure it all out. And that's why we have spent so much of our time years of our life, figuring out these formulas, to make things work to make things simple. And that's what you've got to do. You've got to get inside a group and get with somebody who can help you some coaches, people who genuinely care no matter who you choose to work with. That is really important. Find somebody who can show you these simple things to do in formulas that work for you. And enjoy you have so much to look forward to.
