Do you have any suggestions? I turned to them and say, You know what, I do have some suggestions. And what I'm about to share is a good place to start.

00:00:56.009 --> 00:01:09.060
In this episode, we are going to take a slight departure from our typical line of topics, we're going to go into a non food topic of food. Now if you're a little bit

00:01:10.439 --> 00:01:12.000
confused after bad news,

00:01:12.209 --> 00:01:21.480
that's okay. I'll explain here. We actually want to share with you some of our favorite movies about whole food plant based living who

00:01:21.480 --> 00:01:24.870
I need some popcorn though. Danny pop before talking maybe?

00:01:25.140 --> 00:01:28.469
Well, I do have some organic popcorn in the pantry.

00:01:28.500 --> 00:01:34.469
Gotta get out the hot air, our 14 year old son loves to make popcorn. Yeah, we're thankful.

00:01:31.950 --> 00:01:37.769
He just said, Hey, can you make me some popcorn? Sure, and he's right on it. So we have that.

00:01:37.769 --> 00:01:44.310
But it is delicious. But we share this a lot with people whenever we meet them, especially for the first time.

00:01:44.310 --> 00:01:57.719
And we get into the subject about whole food plant based eating and the way that we eat and live our lives. And we recommend several movies on a pretty consistent basis. So we thought we know what we ought to share with people.

00:01:57.780 --> 00:02:36.569
When I think too, one of their first questions to us is how do you get started? I mean, said they're a little bit interested. But I think the most important thing in the beginning is to build your interest up so much. Because you realize how great it is for you how it can change things for you hearing people's testimonials. And that's what these movies are great for. No, you're not going to watch one of these and know exactly what to do. That's not the purpose of the movies. It's just to bring awareness to how it can change your life. You might get a few ideas, but really, it's not going to show you step by step by step what to do. And that's one of the reasons we started doing what we're doing. Because I told you we

00:02:36.569 --> 00:02:38.250
saw such a need in that area.

00:02:38.280 --> 00:03:27.060
There's a huge hole here, because you watch these movies, and you're so excited. And then you think for what do I do now I don't know what to eat for breakfast. I don't know what to eat for lunch. I don't know what to eat for dinner. I don't even know how to put this together, how to get the flavors out of it. I bought these books to try these different recipes. And none of them tastes good. And it takes too much time. How do I save time? How do I save money, right? And you have all these questions. But the main thing is, we've done that, like we've spent years of our lives figuring that stuff out. We don't want you to have to figure out how to piece all that together. But what we do want you to know how to do is get in there and start doing some of the things we've shown you in the podcast. But also the first thing is watch some of these movies, they're going to get you excited. And that's the main thing to catapult you off to a success.

00:03:27.419 --> 00:03:38.129
I think another person that asked us about these things with the movies are people that have tried tons of things, and they're now desperate. And they just think I gotta do something.

00:03:38.550 --> 00:03:41.879
Everything I've tried is not working everything I have found.

00:03:42.900 --> 00:03:46.889
But there's got to be something else that's there. And that works. And so

00:03:47.188 --> 00:03:57.449
what can I do? What can I What can I do not even desperation. Well, not even knowing what we do. We just see people in different walks of life and we'll somehow get on to talking

00:03:58.169 --> 00:03:58.889
so much

00:03:58.919 --> 00:04:01.919
no matter where we are.

00:03:58.919 --> 00:04:17.670
We are passionate we love Well, we can be in the grocery store, we could be out the park, we can be walking around somewhere and it never fails. It always comes back to this. It's not like we have on T shirts that say plant powered or something or smarter.

00:04:12.689 --> 00:04:17.670
Maybe we should I think

00:04:17.670 --> 00:04:27.149
we just have an invisible tractor beam. It just invites us people over but that's okay. That's okay. We enjoy talking about and we enjoy spreading this information.

00:04:27.180 --> 00:04:33.449
Absolutely. But you need to know something you can do to get you started and one of those things is what made me stay watch.

00:04:33.930 --> 00:04:40.019
Well, I would say there have been a few that I think were instrumental for us in the beginning a few years ago.

00:04:40.050 --> 00:04:41.069
What was your favorite?

00:04:42.180 --> 00:04:57.779
I think my favorite was what the hell that was the wasn't the very first one we watched we actually and you've may have even heard this one is Forks Over Knives. I think that was the first one. And then shortly thereafter, we found what the hell and it might have even been on Netflix. I think

00:04:57.810 --> 00:05:01.019
honestly it was a day or two later. We watched that one.

00:05:01.019 --> 00:05:04.079
And I like, well, it just really made a big difference.

00:05:04.079 --> 00:05:51.449
I know on Netflix, how they'll have the suggestions that are like what you just watched? I'm not sure if it's still on Netflix. I think we've seen it on YouTube. I know it's out there you can find Absolutely, I have to read some foreign language subtitles, but we found it. We found it spoken in English, but it was on YouTube. But yeah, that one was very impactful. And I think for us is that was when we made the final plunge because we had, if you've not heard Anita story, go back and listen to our very first episode. And that'll give you a very good overview, very good background of where all this began for us. But we started trying to find bits and pieces of information here and there. And we're making changes like cutting out meat, I think we're eating meat maybe once a month. And

00:05:51.959 --> 00:06:06.178
all the meat we were eating we were trying to buy like we were buying the eggs, the organic chicken, organic beef, and grass fed beef that wasn't you know, didn't have added hormones. Of course now we know that a lot of dairy and things just so

00:06:06.178 --> 00:06:09.809
naturally has all my animal stuff have hormones in them,

00:06:09.870 --> 00:06:34.259
right. And so it's crazy and things like we were eating, oh, sandwich meat, we were eating sandwich meat that had no nitrates or nitrites, because we knew that they were not good for you. They were preservatives that aren't good for you. So we would buy the meats that weren't that way. Come to find out. No one ever told us that sandwich mate is a known carcinogen. It's classful, the processing that

00:06:34.259 --> 00:06:40.800
it goes through, even though those weren't added some of the nitrites. And nitrates can be naturally just found in those products.

00:06:40.829 --> 00:06:44.908
So sandwich pieces are classified as a carcinogen, right?

00:06:45.028 --> 00:06:50.848
Yes. Which is by the World Health Organization. She mean, no, it's known to cause cancer.

00:06:50.879 --> 00:06:52.949
Yeah, people might not know what carcinogens are.

00:06:52.949 --> 00:07:15.899
That's why I wanted to make sure we made that clear. So a carcinogen is something that's known to cause cancer. And sandwich meat is a known carcinogen. You can look that up it's fact. So it's just it makes me sick. Because we aren't told these things. When we wonder why we're sick and why we're overweight and why we don't feel good. It's not just because you're getting old that you're hurting, okay? It's just not.

00:07:16.050 --> 00:07:19.379
And it's not just your genetics that decides these things?

00:07:19.408 --> 00:07:33.658
Well, what I find not humorous and as in Haha, but really, I should say more odd and sad is that when people say I'm getting old, those are people usually in their 40s. I were 49 Help me,

00:07:33.720 --> 00:07:39.240
we're not old. No, and you're never gonna get old. If you're that age. You're not all the time, we have

00:07:39.240 --> 00:07:45.930
also noticed that as we have gotten more years behind us that it redefines what quote unquote old is.

00:07:47.399 --> 00:07:50.189
Today, we're going yeah, 100 just doesn't seem that

00:07:50.399 --> 00:07:53.309
we're never gonna be old. We're just getting older.

00:07:54.028 --> 00:07:57.899
But seriously, though, people that say that are in their 40s.

00:07:57.899 --> 00:08:04.829
And I have Yeah, my knees are aching and My neck hurts. And I'm just getting old. I'm just getting old. No,

00:08:04.829 --> 00:08:06.598
you're not you're not old.

00:08:07.019 --> 00:08:11.009
Your body was never designed to wear out in your 40s. So no,

00:08:11.100 --> 00:08:30.060
actually, it's designed to heal. And it heals beautifully when it's given the right tools to heal. But it just doesn't have the nutrients it needs. And it has a lot of other stuff it doesn't need, right. So I could go on and on. We're about to get off onto a tangent here, that's going to be way too long. And way too drawn out.

00:08:27.329 --> 00:08:34.830
You've got to go back and listen to some of the other episodes for this for this trail that we're gonna go on. But we're not going to do that

00:08:34.860 --> 00:09:07.409
we're gonna stay on movies. Yeah. So movies, what the hell. What I was saying before, though, is we had cut out the meat and cut out the dairy. And we were making some of those changes, and slowly making the transition. But when we saw specifically Forks Over Knives, and then a couple days later, what the hell, it was just like scales had been lifted off from our eyes. And we saw the truth of this and the evidence that they that they showed in the videos and the movies was so compelling. It was just really for us. It was a no brainer. We just said, Alright, we're done.

00:09:07.440 --> 00:09:12.870
Yeah, I still see a lot of testimonials. But not only that, you see a lot of the science that's behind this step.

00:09:13.049 --> 00:09:19.500
And a lot of the people in certain industries that don't want to talk about it, too. And that just it's really a game changer and

00:09:20.820 --> 00:09:23.820
great segue. Yes, that was another movie on purpose.

00:09:24.059 --> 00:09:37.649
There was another movie called the game changers and it actually, it follows the lives of several elite athletes and talks and talks about them becoming vegan or whole food plant based. And the difference that it made,

00:09:37.678 --> 00:09:39.688
how its improved their performance

00:09:39.779 --> 00:09:51.299
have drastically improved their performance, their healing time improve their after they worked out the recovery. Yes, the recovery time became much faster.

00:09:51.330 --> 00:10:05.519
We even have people that have been in our membership that have said you know, my times are getting faster and faster when I'm running several train for marathons and things like that and Just shaving time off, shaving time off, the more I eat this way. And that's just that's common.

00:10:05.730 --> 00:10:29.759
And there's science behind it. And they do present that in the movies. And what I thought was also very compelling is that they had a lot of doctors on there. And these were doctors that were educated in the areas of cardiology, and some, I believe, were weight loss, and they had exercise physiology, I mean, people that were experts in their field. So these weren't people that weren't experts in these areas.

00:10:30.149 --> 00:10:37.440
Again, it was just very compelling information. And it was like the truth was just staring us at us right there in our faces. And really,

00:10:37.440 --> 00:10:53.399
I just sat there and why has somebody not told us this sets the stuff? Why does nobody talk about these things? And they've been known for years and years and years? And yet nobody's talking about them?

00:10:50.129 --> 00:10:53.399
Nobody shared this with me We

00:10:53.399 --> 00:10:55.919
didn't learn it in PA school in nursing school.

00:10:55.950 --> 00:11:05.610
No, no, I'm telling you it's amazing the way that your life can change when you start this lifestyle and you know, go ahead

00:11:05.639 --> 00:11:14.850
I do want to say about game changers that the being that it was more men oriented.

00:11:09.299 --> 00:11:21.360
There were a few explicative use so you might not want young kids just to listen to it but if you're an older adult and then you could watch it Yeah,

00:11:21.389 --> 00:11:23.490
that's the thing that one's not as family friendly.

00:11:23.730 --> 00:11:27.539
Not as family friendly it wasn't bad just just for FYI.

00:11:27.570 --> 00:11:35.309
Yes. If you're watching this younger kids you may not want them to see it but the con but otherwise the content the scientific information was very good.

00:11:35.428 --> 00:11:43.739
Absolutely. Now when we went to your lifestyle medicine conference there was a maybe and I don't Is it our code blue I don't think

00:11:43.740 --> 00:11:44.850

00:11:45.298 --> 00:11:52.408
wait till that comes out watch for that one to come out Code Blue. It was fantastic. We highly recommend by Dr.

00:11:52.440 --> 00:11:54.059
Sarah Stan sick

00:11:54.509 --> 00:12:16.470
