00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:09.509
It's just that looking back you've got, or at least I do that little sense of regret of, Oh, well, we thought we were doing great, but we weren't.

00:00:06.389 --> 00:00:09.509
Yeah, I know. But

00:00:10.199 --> 00:00:11.009
the thing is, though,

00:00:11.009 --> 00:00:19.589
is that the way that we eat, it's easy. Even our now soon are just recently turned nine year old daughter can do a ton of the stuff.

00:00:19.679 --> 00:00:50.130
You're talking about the way we the way we eat. They cook all the time, I mean, nine through 16, and they're constantly cooking. 00:00:50.130 --> 00:00:50.579
love.

00:00:51.090 --> 00:01:02.789
If you're sick and tired of being sick, and tired, you're in the right place. So pull up a virtual chair, grab your matcha latte. And let's get started.

00:00:58.020 --> 00:01:11.159
Hey, friend, we're thrilled to have you joining us today we are talking about something that we feel like is really important.

00:01:07.019 --> 00:01:35.939
And this is why because what happens is research has done studies put out information. And it's very valid information. But for some reason, there's a break and kind of like an information gap where the information just doesn't get to you. And it wasn't getting to us either. You know, years ago, we would eat things and feed our children things. And we just didn't know there was research out there that it wasn't good for us. It wasn't good for our children.

00:01:36.120 --> 00:01:53.790
And it's very solid research and apparently, research that's been out there for a really long time. And you know, we find out about it. And we think, why didn't somebody tell us this stuff? And then we kind of get mad about it because people I've known about it for a long time, right. But nobody was telling us these things.

00:01:53.819 --> 00:02:04.260
Well, and with this particular topic, too. It's not that we thought that's probably not the best, but it won't kill us. It was we actually thought this was healthy. We thought this was good for us.

00:02:04.319 --> 00:02:16.050
Absolutely. So I mean, and that's what you do when you're working and you're trying to get something fast on the table and get something quick for your children. That's pretty nutritious, you know, and you're not stopping by the drive thru.

00:02:16.050 --> 00:02:27.180
I mean, you're actually making them a sandwich, you know, you're making them something in your kitchen. When you think about making a sandwich, you're either gonna reach for the pb&j, or you're going to be pollen sandwich meat on that sandwich.

00:02:27.479 --> 00:02:40.620
Well, lo and behold, Jared and I had heard that, of course, you know, processed meats aren't really great for you. And the reason they're not really great for us, because of the preservatives that are in there.

00:02:37.469 --> 00:03:09.419
That's what we had heard. And so for years, we were buying nitrate and nitrite free. Meat sandwich means because we thought, well, this is a much better thing. This is going to keep us from getting sick, and we're doing the right thing for our children and doing that. And meanwhile, we're getting sicker and sicker. And having more and more trouble and not understanding what's going on was a result of us not knowing that just because we chose nitrate nitrite free, didn't mean these things weren't harmful to our bodies. Was there something you were gonna say there?

00:03:09.539 --> 00:03:12.629
No, it was just, no, I'm just gonna look on his face.

00:03:12.719 --> 00:03:45.240
Well, no, it was astounding, because I'm just flashing back to those times. And that, again, we thought we were doing the right stuff. I mean, we're kind of proud of ourselves, we're picking the right meats, we were actually paying more money for some of this got kind of expensive. And whenever things really got at their worst, I thought about this as well, that our children, were having to start pitching in some and making lunch. And one of the things that they would do would be make sandwiches and put some of the meat on it. Sometimes they would make egg we call them egg toasters, and

00:03:46.169 --> 00:03:47.159
egg and meat, which

00:03:47.789 --> 00:04:00.900
are not a great combination there either. But they would make the toast and put the, the the male or the mustard on it, and then put some sandwich mean and put the egg on top of that. And I

00:04:01.500 --> 00:04:19.529
honestly, these are the conversations that made me wish I could do. I guess I just because we didn't know. And these are the things we want to share with you guys, because we're so passionate about it now, because we're not hearing this stuff. Why is it not common knowledge? Go ahead. I'm sorry, I'm not cut you off there.

00:04:19.560 --> 00:04:37.290
Well, it was just that looking back though. Our kids were doing that. And it kind of taints the memory because I remember them being so proud that hey, you know, I made this myself. Uh, hey, Mommy, do you want me to make lunch, we'll make some sandwiches and we'll make some egg toasters. Sure, honey, go ahead and do it. And they were so proud of themselves. And

00:04:37.439 --> 00:04:43.199
while they were proud of them, and it's precious that they were do absolutely right.

00:04:39.779 --> 00:04:43.800
They just didn't know when we didn't know.

00:04:43.860 --> 00:04:54.269
It's just that looking back you've got or at least I do that little sense of regret of, Oh, well, we thought we were doing great, but we weren't.

00:04:49.920 --> 00:05:03.120
Yeah, I know. But the thing is, though, is that the way that we eat it's easy even are now soon or just recently. Turn nine year old daughter can do a ton of the stuff.

00:05:03.149 --> 00:05:23.009
So you're talking about the way we the way we cook all the time. I mean nine through 16. And they're constantly cooking. And Jerry and I laugh about it now, because we talked about when we started on this journey, I told him when we started trying to help people, I said, you know, the thing I said, I would never do, like, I'm never gonna focus on making it quick and easy and simple.

00:05:20.399 --> 00:05:36.720
It's just going to be like tasting good, because flavor was the big thing for me. It still is, it is. I mean, it's one of my big things. Don't get me wrong here. That's like number one. But I'm so busy now trying to help people. And we're working inside the membership.

00:05:36.720 --> 00:05:45.720
And we're cranking out the cookbooks coming out soon, and the whole stack. And there's the 50 things course that's coming out with that just all these different things that are coming, in addition

00:05:45.720 --> 00:05:48.600
to homeschooling the children and keeping them fed.

00:05:48.600 --> 00:05:48.839
And

00:05:48.839 --> 00:06:01.529
yeah, and so you've got to be able to get into the kitchen and cook right. So it's got to be quick, it's got to be simple. And we laughed about it earlier, because I think I think I spend less time in the kitchen now. And we like our food more than we ever have.

00:06:01.680 --> 00:06:02.759
It's joyful.

00:06:02.790 --> 00:06:11.670
It's joyful. It's delicious. It's quick. And it's just so ironic, though, because we never would have foreseen that years ago before doing this.

00:06:12.000 --> 00:07:18.389
I mean, I used to spend hours in the kitchen, and I just don't do it anymore. And we love our food. It's wonderful. We look forward to it. But it doesn't consume us like it used to the prep of it. But what are we having the cravings that you just can't get over. And that sluggish feeling that's always there, like waking up exhausted, going and just live in for the time to go to bed and still not been able to accomplish all your goals and dreams. Because you're so tired, you don't feel like doing those things that you want to do traveling to the places and doing the things you want to do in life. And that's what we want for people to be able to leave your legacy. So all this to say this one thing. And there's so many things like this, that we just can't wait to share with you guys as we continue on this journey together. And that's why we're so passionate about it. And we've created the membership is because there's so many things we just you don't know about that we didn't know about. But this one thing today that we're talking about is the processed meats and the red meats, because this has been out for years and years and years. And it's not just red meats, it's meat in general. But today we're talking about all processed meats and red meats from this one study.

00:07:18.389 --> 00:07:45.959
And that's what we're going to share with you today. So and about five years ago, this study came out. And in the study what happened was there was a group of about 22 scientists, and they're from 10 different countries, and they evaluated over 800 research studies. Now this stuff was already out there, you know, people that have written up about this talk about how this wasn't something neat. These were consistent findings from years and years associations made long ago.

00:07:46.290 --> 00:08:08.699
Absolutely. And so the conclusions they found were that they started looking at first let's talk about the process mean so they said process mates are known carcinogens to human and a carcinogen is something that causes cancer. So they classified these as group one carcinogens, all processed meats

00:08:09.209 --> 00:08:25.800
through the World Health Organization. So they had the classifications or group ones are known to cause cancer. Right now for the processed meats specifically, they saw colorectal cancer, but I do believe there are some associations with others but that one is known

00:08:25.860 --> 00:08:43.289
colorectal and stomach cancer they mentioned and they also mentioned other diseases like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, all tied with these types of meats. But so they're saying you know, it's not just cancers there are other things but they did classify them and we want you all to know this.

00:08:43.500 --> 00:08:53.940
This is known nitrate nitrite free are not just by process of being processed smoked being a made to last for long periods of time on the shelf.

00:08:53.970 --> 00:08:59.129
Well, preservatives, flavor enhancers, whatever else that they do to the the main product,

00:08:59.159 --> 00:09:21.389
right, the chemicals, the different things that they add the curing the smoking leads to the formation of these cancer causing chemicals. And that's, it's just the nature of what it is. So what are we talking about here? We're talking about sliced sandwich meats, we're talking about hot dogs, Turkey doll and whatever kind of dogs hot dog and bacon. Hey, sorry. Yeah, if

00:09:21.389 --> 00:09:24.600
you're listening to this and you love your bacon bacon is included with that.

00:09:24.720 --> 00:09:32.580
So these things are known carcinogens known to cause cancer group one, no question, okay. Then you move on to it.

00:09:32.580 --> 00:10:07.679
You say well, oh, well, red meats, you know, that's just that's a solid meat. So that's better, that's going to be healthy. They even classify these as probable carcinogens because they're found so many times to be linked with cancer, that is a group to a probable not possible, probable carcinogens. But we are being told these things and that's not only that's not the only thing that these things are linked with, again, we're talking about anything that has to do with your blood and Your blood clogging. Okay, so we're thinking strikes, heart attacks, these things are listed in this report. I

00:10:07.679 --> 00:10:44.159
would like to tack on something here to that with meat in the advertising. You do not hear any within the advertising commercials and all that any health promotions made. Now, it's just beef. It's what's for dinner. Because by law, they cannot make any health claims because those have not been proven. So I forgot what it was a while back. They had some other slogan before, but there were doctors like Dr. Barnard who actually went to court over these things with different foods by milk, meat, eggs and all that and

00:10:44.159 --> 00:10:46.440
how they presented them to people. And so

00:10:47.039 --> 00:10:50.460
they do not make any health claims. It's just beef.

00:10:50.519 --> 00:11:05.909
It's what's for dinner. Yeah, very, very clever. And you hear that a ton. But we're trying to present you the other side. That it's not just it's not this benign protein rich food, unfortunately.

00:11:06.120 --> 00:11:16.440
Well, and it's not always to I mean, we think oh, yeah, it has some protein in it. Wow. So do a lot of other things that don't come with these probables and definites of carcinogenic.

00:11:16.620 --> 00:11:23.759
So you can get a lot of things that have are rich in plant protein, plant foods have protein, they have abundant protein.

00:11:23.789 --> 00:11:26.580
Oh, and where do cows get their protein

00:11:26.639 --> 00:11:30.690
from plants from grass?

00:11:26.639 --> 00:11:30.690
lately? Right? Right?

00:11:30.870 --> 00:11:55.169
Because they're like us, there are certain amino acids that we must get from food because our bodies do not make them. Well. Cows are the same way there are certain amino acids, which are the building blocks for proteins that they must get from food. And what is their food source? Is just strictly plants? Absolutely. You will never see a cow hunt down another animal. Yeah, I've never seen a very strange visual, isn't

00:11:55.169 --> 00:11:58.889
it? I've never seen that.

00:11:55.169 --> 00:12:27.240
Absolutely not. So then you think about Okay, well, if I don't get made, I'm not going to be in protein. Well, yes, she will. Because again, you can go back and listen, we've done episodes perform protein, I'm sure we'll be tackling that again. Because that's a common question. And it's a misunderstanding. And you don't need to protein combine, that's not necessary with plants. If you're eating enough calories to sustain your body and your health, you're getting enough protein. And so the truth is, we get too much protein. But what we don't get enough of is fiber.

00:12:27.299 --> 00:12:48.960
And guess what meat has no fiber. So it's not just about looking at what does something have in it, which we've talked about what these foods do have them what they can cause and do cause right? So now we look at what Don't they have, there's no fiber in there, there's no phytonutrients, which are nutrients only found in plants.

00:12:44.909 --> 00:12:59.190
They can't feed your good gut bacteria and cause them to thrive, to prepare to repair your gut to help you thrive and grow. And we're going to talk about in future episodes about the gut. And we're

00:12:59.190 --> 00:13:02.940
going to talk about it a lot, because it's just that important.

00:13:02.970 --> 00:13:08.850
It's amazing. I mean, you hear it and you think, Oh, it's this trendy thing. gut health.

00:13:05.159 --> 00:13:31.320
No, I mean, it we're finding with research more and more it is the key to a lot of things, different diseases, autoimmune diseases and things that our gut microbiota can do for us to boost our health. But if it gets shifted the wrong way, and the bad bacteria thrive, because the good bacteria have not had the fiber that they need. Because you aren't eating plants on a daily basis, then what happens?

00:13:31.529 --> 00:13:34.740
Well, you're gonna get sick. And that's just the reality of it.

00:13:34.740 --> 00:13:37.529
We don't want that for anybody.

00:13:34.740 --> 00:14:05.730
Because we've been down that road. We know what that feels. I mean, I was at death's door, I was so sick. I was at the point of telling Jarrod, take me to the emergency room. I think I'm dying. I mean, that's how sick I was. Because my body was crying out for nutrients it needed. And it's amazing the things I've been able to heal from and this is a journey. I mean, we think, Okay, I'm going to stop eating and stop doing this and start getting all these great things in my life. And we expect to be better and lose all the pounds and everything in a couple of weeks. Well, you've got to think it took more than a couple of weeks a

00:14:05.730 --> 00:14:10.769
while you will see some very big changes, but it will not happen overnight.

00:14:10.799 --> 00:14:53.490
Yeah, it can happen. A lot of the things can reverse very quickly. But some things have crept on over time. But the thing is when you start living this way, and you figure out how to do it in a way that is joyful, that simple. How do I put these things together work the work for me and I don't just always have to have one specific recipe but I'll learn how to take a recipe and make it my own and make recipe upgrades all the things that we'd love to teach people. You know, you can learn how to do those things and have your comfort foods to point out all the foods we used to love to eat. We have them now we just have them in a new way. And we love them and most of the time we like them even better. I mean we just we just ate banana pudding the other night we ate chocolate dipped fruit tonight.

00:14:53.490 --> 00:14:59.669
I mean there's a ton of things you can have still and have them and be healthy and have them in their whole food

00:14:59.669 --> 00:15:06.509
form. Just have them in a little different way. But I would say some of this stuff would probably actually surprise or shock you.

00:15:07.019 --> 00:15:11.789
It would have been years ago. I mean, I wouldn't have even thought What in the world?

00:15:09.269 --> 00:15:14.309
I mean, how am I going to? I love cheese. I'm the Dairy Queen how I'm going to get my cheese.

00:15:14.340 --> 00:15:17.039
I've got to have cheesy things.

00:15:14.340 --> 00:15:20.519
I'm just telling you. We don't eat cheese, but I still get my cheesy things. I still get my creamy thing.

00:15:20.549 --> 00:15:30.210
Well, tonight we had brownie batter that we dipped our apple slices in. And it tastes just like brownie fudge.

00:15:30.240 --> 00:15:32.100
No, it's amazing. Just like it.

00:15:32.129 --> 00:15:45.750
It's what if I told you what was in it? You might be shocked. Every single thing in it. Well, what wasn't it? Yeah, but everything that's in it is good for you. It's moaning it's food that loves you back. Oh, yeah,

00:15:45.779 --> 00:15:54.690
it absolutely does. And the way it makes you feel well, my taste buds love it. And it yeah, it loves my body back because I don't feel you remember the crash and burn we

00:15:54.690 --> 00:16:09.480
used to you might feel a little guilty eating it. So good. But yeah, the crash and burn day. Yeah, we get that we we coined this the food hangover. You know, we'd have these meals and afterwards, it feels so sluggish. And it's just I gotta go lay down for a little bit.

00:16:09.509 --> 00:16:18.720
Seriously, we need a hashtag hashtag down with the food hangover. I'm serious. Like it needs to go. No one should ever experienced a food hangover. And we don't anymore.

00:16:18.750 --> 00:16:20.429
Maybe we should make a T shirt out of it

00:16:20.458 --> 00:16:23.428
hashtag down with the food hangover. That's hilarious.

00:16:23.458 --> 00:16:24.448
I mean, I guess we could do that.

00:16:24.509 --> 00:16:27.389
If you want a T shirt with that on there. Email us, let

00:16:27.389 --> 00:16:27.929
us know.

00:16:29.399 --> 00:16:31.799
If we get enough people that want it, we'll make it

00:16:31.828 --> 00:16:50.548
now. It's crazy. I mean, why do we think that we have to have these foods that they have to make us feel bad to taste good. And you know, it's like we've talked about before. I mean, we weren't even trying to lose weight. And we weren't trying to clear up skin. And we weren't trying to clear up seasonal allergies. But we rarely have any seasonal allergies.

00:16:50.580 --> 00:16:52.470
Yeah, completely gone.

00:16:52.500 --> 00:17:05.579
We're at the height of spring, and we might get a sneeze every once in a while where we were clogging our throat, our eyes and all this stuff. And we don't have them, our kids don't have them. I mean, people stop and ask us when our teens don't have acne.

00:17:02.429 --> 00:17:29.819
I mean, they just they get little bumps here and there from time to time. But it's not like I was on medications for years for acne. So there are a lot of things that we'll be talking about coming up. But if you can get what you're eating right, this is one of the biggest foundation stones. And it's fun knowing things like this that are out in the research that have been known for years. But that nobody's telling you, you need to know these things to understand why

00:17:29.910 --> 00:17:35.099
they may even be hearing the opposite saying oh, well, this this organic sliced meat that's good for you.

00:17:35.128 --> 00:18:13.078
Oh, yeah. And this organic organic meat made no difference treated when nitrates or nitrites. Well, that's an natural nitrites. They're using out of certain things. And it's still nitrates and nitrites that they're doing. Well, they're pulling it out of an actual food. So they're extracting something from foods, even if it's plant foods, you start extracting stuff, you start having problems. So you want to try to keep things as whole as possible, because that's the form they were created in. And of course, science shows and backs up that Guess what, that's what fuels our body the best the way it was created was the way we were meant to eat it. Imagine that, right? Imagine that. And it makes you feel

00:18:13.079 --> 00:18:14.130
way emoji.

00:18:14.519 --> 00:18:42.839
Oh, but it makes you feel great, it tastes great. And we want you all to know, these are the things that you need to know. And our thing is now you know, you get to choose, you get the choice. We're not the food police, we're not going to sit there in judgment ever you no matter what you choose, we'd like to see you healthy and thriving. And we want to see you make great decisions for your life. But we more than anything want you to have the option. And if you don't have the information, right, you don't even have the option you

00:18:42.839 --> 00:18:46.079
