Don't feel the pace is so frustrating, I have a hard time finding things that I know are out there. And I'm remembering it was in this box from two moves ago, and I can't find it. And it's so frustrating and I honestly waste so much time looking for things.

00:00:53.579 --> 00:01:01.799
Alright, I'm just going to be straight up honest with you. I am tired, my muscles ache. Now you may be asking why?
00:01:01.859 --> 00:01:09.870
Because I've spent the last couple days painting beds. Now, to be fair, my daughter helped me prime bed yesterday
00:01:10.170 --> 00:01:12.810
browers for four hours, she primed
00:01:12.900 --> 00:01:38.670
and it was kind of like I've never done Tai Chi. But if I were ever to do something of that nature would be like that, because you have to kind of hold yourself in certain positions while you're painting with the brush. You don't want to spill the paint on the driveway. And I'm tired. So today I used a brush, or I'm sorry, an airless brush sprayer, right, paint spray, I'm sorry, airless paint sprayer.
00:01:40.349 --> 00:01:45.840
spray tan are actually kind of did make a spray. I had I had.
00:01:47.219 --> 00:02:11.069
Okay, we're gonna just we're just going to open up the curtains, I had hobbit feet. And this is why because, okay, these were beds that I had made about five or six years ago when the boys were younger, and they were a bit rough on it. Plus, these beds have moved a couple times they've gotten scuff marks. So we wanted to freshen them up.
00:02:07.590 --> 00:02:17.729
And we use an oil based paint beforehand. So we had to get a different primer, even than the new paint the same color. But it's a different kind of paint.
00:02:18.270 --> 00:02:22.379
So we had to do the primer. And again, I'm I'm tired.
00:02:22.409 --> 00:02:28.229
These are the stories of people. Like we're pulling the curtain back today, welcome home, I'm
00:02:28.229 --> 00:02:41.009
serious. This is a view into our daily life. So I had this this airless paint sprayer that I thought I would use today. It make it much faster.
00:02:34.800 --> 00:02:50.789
And it did, it did. But because the color of the paint is a darker, it's almost like a black with the brown undertone, almost like a cappuccino type color. So in spraying this I got my feet a few times.
00:02:52.620 --> 00:02:54.360
And your leg and your are
00:02:54.599 --> 00:03:15.360
mostly my feet, which is why I had hobbit feet. But the pain did come off, I scrubbed them off. So they're all clean now. But the reason for telling this story is that in the midst of all of this, I was in and out of my my garage quite a few times. And I'm telling myself here, but my garage is a mess.
00:03:15.810 --> 00:03:22.680
And I just thought I've got to clean this thing out. So and I thought you know what, this is perfect to share with you.
00:03:23.280 --> 00:03:33.150
Because that it probably is not a garage for you. Although it may be I know, that's been a thing that's plagued us quite a bit. It's always that last place to get cleaned up and organized.
00:03:33.689 --> 00:03:45.389
And I know every time this happens, it's just it does not bring the peace and it's like Anita says all the time to simplify clear out stuff, make your spaces neat and tidy,
00:03:45.419 --> 00:03:46.530
that changed our lives.
00:03:47.550 --> 00:03:57.629
And we've done that in the house. We've done that with closets. We've done that with things we don't use. We have had in the past just tons of dishes and utensils so
00:03:57.629 --> 00:04:14.669
much stuff. Where does it come from? I mean, we don't even buy that much stuff, but somehow with the six of us, four of our children and so in the household stuff just comes in. I mean you got the free book Ben over at the park. Kids are constantly bringing free books. It's weird is it stuff
00:04:15.149 --> 00:04:18.059
like the Gremlins you know these things get wet and they multiply
00:04:20.220 --> 00:04:36.029
true and especially at the beach, I mean you're at the beach and the kids are walking down the beach and they fine i mean if you live close to the beach, you have all kinds of extra beach toys that people leave at sundown the beach people are going to come clean it up. The kids are off. Can I have this Can I have that now your garage is filled
00:04:36.778 --> 00:05:31.528
with beach toys. And so we keep the neighborhood goodwill stocked. But again, we've done it on the inside but the garage is still a mess and I was walking through and I thought I just don't feel the pace is so frustrating. I have a hard time finding things that I know are out there. And I'm remembering it was in this box from two moves again. Oh yeah, and I can't find it. And it's so frustrating. And I honestly waste so much time looking for things. And I just thought this would be a great thing to share that we need to clean out our spaces now for you, it may be a closet, clothes closet, could be a pantry, could be someplace where you store dishes, whatever that is for you, it could be your spice rack, clean that space up, you will find so much more peace with it.
00:05:31.949 --> 00:05:33.660
Like me when you said spice rack,
00:05:33.689 --> 00:05:39.269
I'm just trying to tip now because I know our spice rack actually is very orderly,
00:05:39.300 --> 00:05:44.370
it's pretty good. But a couple of them are broken. And I really need to replace it because I have used them. So
00:05:45.930 --> 00:05:46.920
it just sags.
00:05:49.259 --> 00:05:53.369
Totally got to get online and get a couple of spice racks.
00:05:53.369 --> 00:05:55.738
I mean, I love those things.
00:05:53.369 --> 00:06:01.619
Because if you don't spice your food, where's the flavor coming from? Right? We switch to veggies and eating this stuff.
00:05:59.189 --> 00:06:18.598
And I'm going off topic, but I've just got a riff for a minute. That's okay. So, you know, you get you start eating this way. And you think, okay, it doesn't taste good is bland is plain. Well, you never eat bowl chicken breast plain. I mean, really, you bought a chicken breast laid on your plate and go eat dinner serve?
00:06:18.598 --> 00:06:27.389
No, we don't do that. That's not a No, no. Well, if we do it, we're doing it because we're on a diet and we don't leave the table going That was
00:06:27.389 --> 00:06:30.689
delicious. You don't walk away feeling satisfied? No,
00:06:30.750 --> 00:06:39.689
no. And so you gotta have the spices and having that clean. It makes it easier to reach for them easier to find what you're looking for. There's much less stress in the cooking and
00:06:39.779 --> 00:06:48.120
you don't have to pick up 20 bottles to find the one that you want. It's like me looking through four or five boxes, and still not finding the one thing that I need.
00:06:48.149 --> 00:06:55.649
Yeah, the tool. It's usually a tool for you like you're looking for some tool to do some kind of project. And I asked, and it's, you know, minutes later,
00:06:55.949 --> 00:07:07.348
I'm honestly I'm we're not on video, clearly. But I'm sitting here shaking my shaking my head. No, yeah. Like, this is so true. This is so true. And it's frustrating. Yeah, that's
00:07:07.350 --> 00:07:59.040
the next area we were tackling. Because it really makes such a big difference in the Shalom and your house and the peace, and just the calm that you have when you're when you're just living daily life and the stress. And we talk about health all the time. And stress is one of the things that we teach on in the membership because you can eat all the broccoli in the world, all the kale in the world. But if you live a life where you're constantly stressed out, looking for things, I mean that it can be a major source of stress, right? And you don't need that in your life. And so take one little area, don't get overwhelmed and go I've got to do everything. Again, just one thing, what's one area that you can clean out right now, that would make even living whole food plant based easier for you, like we talked about the spice rack, I mean, there's so many different things sometimes for us, it's the freezer, like I've got to clean out that freezer.
00:07:59.129 --> 00:08:05.490
So you can make and some people keep a list of different dates like I cleaned it out this date.
00:08:02.850 --> 00:08:35.940
But with me, I can pretty much look at monitor what needs to be cleaned out, I don't need another list to keep. So let's just keep it real and simple right here. That's what I'm all about. So really just, you know those places that you know need attention, maybe just jot down five little things you want to take care of this week or whatever works for you, that doesn't overwhelm you and cause more stress. Because in the end of it, you're going to be so much more happy. So much more peace filled, so much more joyful and so much more healthy.
00:08:31.800 --> 00:08:37.710
Because you've tackled that your eyes are shining over there when she got
00:08:37.889 --> 00:09:45.509
no I say list of my future list in my future. Well, now what the garage going through, I'm sitting here thinking, Okay, we do have a couple piles of donatable items that I need to get in the back of my car, drop that off, then there's another pile of some other stuff that I need to get out of the way. Like some empty boxes, I think we've got some styrofoam inserts that came from some boxes that I need to throw away, then that will expose the boxes of stuff that were originally here when we moved in to clear through that. But I'm sitting here, I'm not glazing or I'm actually in thought thinking, Okay, what's my attack plan going to be for the garage, because really, we can't keep it like this. Because whenever I need a tool, and I know because I only have about five tools where I know exactly where they are because I keep them in the same spot. But when it gets to the point of I have a project or just a very small repair that needs doing, and I think I don't know where that is great. And it is kind of stressful. I mean, yeah, it's not pull my hair out stressful. But when you add those things up many times a day,
00:09:45.600 --> 00:10:13.470
right? If you have a constant over and over again, especially for a busy woman, I'm just going to tell you that right there will just it can send me over the edge sometimes because there's so much more peace when the spaces are straight and I can find things I mean, if I'm spending hours looking for my keys, and I don't just have that one place where I keep them, and I actually dropped them there when I get home. That that's just not it's not healthy. It doesn't lead to my health over time because all these things add up. Well, you
00:10:13.470 --> 00:10:23.610
were saying busy woman, I do remember several years back, and I don't remember how many years, but it's been 567 has been quite a while. closet.
00:10:19.379 --> 00:10:23.909
You had stuff from even high school.
00:10:23.940 --> 00:10:25.379
I was ridiculous. It was
00:10:25.379 --> 00:10:40.019
it was. But she would sort through all this stuff to find the 1012 items that she would wear on a regular routine basis. And then it dawned on you listen, this stuff doesn't bring me joy. I just need to get rid of it.
00:10:40.049 --> 00:10:43.259
Yeah, that was I'm never gonna know that was memory. Yes.
00:10:44.460 --> 00:10:51.659
Yeah, if it doesn't bring you joy, get rid of it. Now I'm not going to talk to my things, pet them, thank them and kiss them and tell them I love them.
00:10:49.559 --> 00:11:22.200
Thanks for serving me. Well, I mean, that's we don't do that kind of stuff in our house. But I'm telling you, some of the takeaways I got from reading her book were amazing. You know, I think the father who gave me these things, who blessed us with the things that we have, and we're thankful that we've had them. But she's right. I mean, when something is sitting there, and it's it's served its purpose, either. You were happy when you bought it. And that was the purpose it served, even if you never used it, because you always look at stuff and you think, Oh, I'm gonna use that one day. Oh, you know, I'm gonna use that.
00:11:22.229 --> 00:11:48.119
Well, that's what our mindset was. We went from, well, I might be able to use this at some point, it does fit my mind that it's not a style, it doesn't flatter you. But I might wear it sometime to know like, like, you were saying, does this bring me joy? Well, I got to that point where many times was no, so we got rid of it. And so now our closet is much more organized, we can find stuff,
00:11:48.149 --> 00:12:27.480
why just decided if I'm gonna wear those same 10 outfits Anyway, why not just have the 10 outfits. I mean, that has saved me a ton of time daily, because I don't have to dig through all that stuff. Now we've got a closet, that's probably 1/10 of the size of what we used to have. And it's not full. I mean, it's just not, there's no reason for it. And there's so much more peace and joy, just because of that one thing. But think about ways you can set yourself up for health so that you're not stressed out all the time, not just with food. Although there's a lot of different ways you can do that in your kitchen. We teach a lot of those things, learn them bit by bit, do one step at a time. It doesn't have to just be around food, though.
00:12:27.480 --> 00:12:44.879
I mean, if there's something else that stress in your in your life, figure out a solution that's just step by step, what can I do to make this simpler over time. And if you just take baby steps, just always think just do one thing and one thing and one thing and down the road?
00:12:41.549 --> 00:12:48.509
There's one little thing, what things together all added up will add up to a lot of fun
00:12:48.749 --> 00:12:59.428
in your life will look very different. So don't never think that one small changes in consequential that it's not that important. It's one small thing.
00:12:56.519 --> 00:13:31.948
No, it's when those things are added up. It's kind of like, if you were to look at a night sky and see one star like oh, you know, may not seem like that much. But when you see hundreds and hundreds of them, it becomes this beautiful show. And it's gorgeous. So for you, it may not be a garage. But find those areas and start organizing them and cleaning them up little by little. It doesn't have to be all at one time. Just keep that for momentum and progress. And one thing that I just thought about is if there's an area in your house that you avoid going, that may be one of those areas.
00:13:31.979 --> 00:13:33.629
Yeah, that's a red flag.
00:13:34.830 --> 00:13:41.970
I've been like that with the garage where I'm thinking No, I don't think I'll walk through the front door. I don't want to walk through the garage.
00:13:39.659 --> 00:13:41.970
I might hurt myself.
00:13:42.539 --> 00:13:47.850
Something might fall Okay, it's not that's not the best. Not sometimes the
00:13:47.850 --> 00:13:50.850
front door is the path of least resistance and I have taken it.
00:13:52.169 --> 00:14:00.480
I'm not gonna say it's never been that bad. Now it's now it's mostly just like the kid shoes if you can just put them in the lot, you know up against the door. I
00:14:00.480 --> 00:14:07.350
said, kill me. keep piling their shoes up right by that door.
00:14:07.980 --> 00:14:08.909
Your mass.
00:14:09.210 --> 00:14:11.250
I'm kidding. My children are trying to kill me.
00:14:11.340 --> 00:14:11.879
