89: How To Prevent And Heal Heartburn Naturally

Send us a Text Message.

Do you suffer from heartburn, reflux, or GERD and wish you could figure out a natural way to make it stop?

We used to struggle with reflux, but thankfully we don't any more! 🎉

Today we're diving in to discuss GERD  and the most likely causes of reflux,  the possible long-term effects of heartburn, and HOW to treat heartburn naturally.

We're sharing how we've helped clients reverse reflux and no longer need Nexium (even after taking it for 14 years!)

Learn more about antacids like Tums and Rolaids,  as well as PPIs like and Prilosec, too.

One of the most important things is learning what's behind the symptoms (not just covering them up with over-the-counter or prescription meds) so you can get to the root of the problem to find a solution that works.

Learn the secret natural remedy we found for indigestion, as well as a lasting way to get to the root issue so reflux becomes a thing of the past.

Digestive issues, constipation, gut health, fiber, cancer prevention, info about processed foods, oil, cheese, yogurt, milk, and whole food plant-based living ... it's all here.

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:17.399
Absolutely. And what what researchers have done is they said, okay, what's causing this, and they felt like it was something with the food because people would get it related to certain meals. And so they tested fats, they tested proteins, and they tested carbs.

00:00:50.310 --> 00:00:59.700
Okay, Jared, now, we may be dating ourselves with this.

00:00:56.670 --> 00:00:59.700
Well, actually we are

00:00:59.729 --> 00:01:04.829
we do date ourselves. We do date we Yes, date our age on this,

00:01:04.859 --> 00:01:14.670
but I'm saying we're dating. All right. Yes. So do you remember the commercial?

00:01:10.019 --> 00:01:15.840
This is the fullest Fuller's have ever felt? Do you

00:01:15.840 --> 00:01:18.689
remember that? I believe that was a Pepto bismol commercial?

00:01:19.109 --> 00:01:39.450
I think it was it was something to do with acid reflux or heartburn, right? And so this family is just holding their stomachs and they're walking up the stairs and you can see their stomach just going. just miserable, miserable. And how remember those days? Do you remember those days of having that happen? When you would eat meals, and you would just be so miserable? And

00:01:39.840 --> 00:01:45.090
I don't think I've ever had it on a daily basis. But I do remember having it with some regularity?

00:01:45.239 --> 00:01:58.560
Well, I had a lot. And when I look back now, with what I know now, and I look back and think about what I used to eat on a regular basis. It's no wonder I had it. But nobody was telling me, hey, there's something you can do about this.

00:01:58.560 --> 00:02:22.169
You don't have to have this and why does it even matter? I mean, we think about it as a discomfort and it can disrupt your sleep, which can make you sick, it can disrupt your wife because you're just hurting and you're miserable. And you're constantly reaching for your Tums or Rolaids, which is not a good solution at all. because really what you got to do is figure out number one, what is it? Number two, what's causing it? And that's the important

00:02:22.169 --> 00:02:23.069
what's causing what's

00:02:23.069 --> 00:02:32.039
causing it. And number three, how do you fix it? And that's what we're talking about today. So let's start with number one. What is it?

00:02:32.580 --> 00:02:52.860
Well reflux, as a lot of people call it also known as GERD, which is gastro esophageal reflux disease. So you have heartburn, acid reflux, and GERD. And they're all basically the same thing, girls just kind of a more severe form, and it's becoming twice or more per week.

00:02:48.750 --> 00:03:06.180
Or if you've got one really bad episode, occurring once a week, then it gets known as quote unquote, GERD g rd. But it's just simply the stomach acid coming back up into the esophagus. Now the esophagus is the tube that goes from your throat down into your stomach.

00:03:06.659 --> 00:03:14.639
Once food hits your stomach, there should be a little circle muscular valve that holds food in there, so it doesn't come back up.

00:03:14.639 --> 00:03:27.930
So that valves at the bottom of your esophagus and what you want is for that valve to stay tight, it should be a one way valve. But when it becomes a two way valve, and that that acid from your stomach comes back up into your esophagus, that's when the bar hasn't,

00:03:27.960 --> 00:03:38.400
it's not functioning properly. And the reason it burns is that your soft Vagus is not really equipped to handle that much acidity, your stomach is perfectly designed for it.

00:03:38.610 --> 00:03:50.789
But your esophagus is not because when food goes down, it doesn't have that acid, once it get in, gets into the stomach, the stomach triggers making the acid so it helps to digest the food and everything that it does

00:03:50.819 --> 00:04:40.110
what's really important to have the acid there. And so what happens we take, we're like, Okay, well, we got to get something. So we run to the store, we get terms in real lights, or if you're like members of my family who had huge bottles sitting on their table all the time just popping them like candy. That's not good for you. Because what happens when you take these things and even the ppis that it kills the acid, it makes the acid weaker, and the acids there for a reason. It's there to help you break down your food. And if the food doesn't get broken down properly, it can't be used by your body properly. And then you're in a whole other world of trouble. Not only that, but it's there to kill bacteria and germs that come in with your fade or whenever you swallow something so you need the acid that the solution isn't to kill the acid.

00:04:40.290 --> 00:04:42.120
But when you're burning All you want is for the burn.

00:04:42.870 --> 00:04:45.569
Well you want you want some type of relief immediately.

00:04:45.899 --> 00:05:02.879
And if you've always seen oh I have heartburn so I need to reach for this medication then that's what you do. You almost don't even seeing see it as being something unusual, different, something wrong. It's just it is what it is. And here's the problem, here's a solution. This is what I do.

00:05:02.910 --> 00:05:04.680
Well, that's why we're talking about this today.

00:05:04.680 --> 00:05:21.839
Because it really can affect your life. But a lot of times you don't know these different things that you can do. And there's some simple things that you can do. But really, it all comes down to getting to the root of the problem. What is causing this? Why does this keep happening to me? It doesn't happen to us anymore.

00:05:19.410 --> 00:05:48.689
Thankfully, on a regular basis, it's no it's so rare, rare. And when it is, we can usually pinpoint what it is because we know what's causing it now. And that's what we want for you to not experience this all the time. But there were things that we could do, even when we got it and just didn't realize, you know, we just didn't know. And when we discovered it, we still weren't eating right. So we kept getting it. But we knew what we needed to do to treat it. And then all of a sudden, we learned, hey, there's not just something we can do to treat it, we can actually make it. So

00:05:49.800 --> 00:06:03.329
it was really a lightbulb moment where we thought, Oh, this makes so much more sense. Why didn't we know this before? Some of the reasons why it matters to prevent reflux, because it's not just a discomfort issue.

00:06:03.360 --> 00:06:08.040
Well, there are risk factors involved. I mean, it's not like it's just hurting. It's what you're saying, right?

00:06:08.100 --> 00:06:37.290
I mean, there are specific issues, because the acid is going up into the esophagus, like we've mentioned already, but it's causing damage. Now, if it's once or twice, very rare, it's not an issue. But if you keep getting this acid coming back time and time again, you do start to get scarring. And that can form strictures, which is where the esophagus won't stretch properly. And then you can get food caught there. And then if it keeps going, then you can eventually end up with a soft geo cancer.

00:06:37.319 --> 00:06:48.240
Yeah. And like the rate of cancer in the United States, is that six times over what it was three decades ago, last three decades. Yeah. And what we're finding is that's related to lifestyle changes, it's really an

00:06:48.810 --> 00:06:52.019
increase in the amount of reflux that happens,

00:06:52.079 --> 00:06:52.620
right,

00:06:52.649 --> 00:06:55.800
and one in four people in the US has reflux.

00:06:56.910 --> 00:07:22.829
If you factor that there, roughly 350 million people in the US, that would make it somewhere around like 80 million people get reflux weekly. That's huge. Absolutely. And what what researchers have done is they said, okay, what's causing this, and they felt like it was something with the food, because people will get it related to certain meals. And so they tested fats, they tested proteins, and they tested carbs.

00:07:23.040 --> 00:08:11.939
And what they found was time and again, proteins didn't cause it, carbs didn't cause it. They're not the devil they might be. But we need those carbs, but and we need our protein too. But what they found is the fat is actually actually the being that triggers that specifically animal fats, which interestingly enough, have also been tied to cancer, specifically, red meat has been taught or linked with esophageal cancer, poultry has been linked more with stomach cancers. And over time, those things can happen. And some of this may be linked with a reflex that's caused by eating these foods. But also, they found that with highly processed foods that had a lot of oils added and things like that, also, were behind reflux. And I found that true in my life, didn't you as well, when you were eating more of the high processed foods?

00:08:11.970 --> 00:08:15.899
Oh, looking backwards?

00:08:11.970 --> 00:08:22.079
Yes, definitely a huge, huge percent of the time I was eating very oily processed foods, probably with a lot of chemicals to

00:08:22.139 --> 00:08:44.639
well, then it's not just what you eat, and we're kind of getting into the what can you do about it, because now we know what's causing this, you know, this, a lot of times, it's that animal stuff. And with me, I was eating so much dairy. I mean, it was cheese and yogurt and cheese and, and milk and cheese.

00:08:46.049 --> 00:08:49.980
Cheese on top of cheese.

00:08:46.049 --> 00:08:49.980
Cheese goes better with cheese.

00:08:49.980 --> 00:08:50.250
Yeah,

00:08:50.279 --> 00:08:51.210
it didn't

00:08:51.960 --> 00:09:13.679
make fun of it or make light of it. But it was. But I didn't want to mention a couple things, because we've talked about the type of food being a risk factor of other risk factors to or obesity, which I believe a lot of that comes from the fact that if you have a lot of intra abdominal fat, meaning fat inside your belly, then there's going to be pressure that pushes up on the stomach.

00:09:10.409 --> 00:09:18.240
And it may cause more pressure than what that esophageal sphincter that little round muscular valve can hold.

00:09:19.289 --> 00:09:21.000
Alcohol is alcohol.

00:09:21.448 --> 00:09:36.538
And I think that comes from relaxing that muscle. And then smoking smoking is actually a big cause for this, because the nicotine will increase acid production, but also cause relaxation of that sphincter as well.

00:09:36.599 --> 00:10:18.719
It makes sense. So we want to keep the sphincter solid and keep it a one way valve. And we do that by not just what we're not eating. We're giving you now what you can do to get to the root of the problem, right so we talked about stopping or greatly decreasing the higher fat foods it's going to make a huge difference in the amount of times you get acid reflux and you may be like us and almost never Forget it anymore. I mean, it's made a big difference. But what Jared and I know, it's not just about what you are eating the bad stuff, the things that are sabotaging your health, the things that are causing the reflux, right? It's not just about getting those things out of your life, it's also about what you're not getting on a regular basis. And

00:10:18.720 --> 00:10:25.080
then those things that you need to put back into your your regular routine routine?

00:10:25.110 --> 00:11:07.830
Absolutely. You've got to have plant foods on a regular basis, you have to have them because plant foods are the only source of fiber. And what does fiber do fiber keeps things moving through. You don't know how many people we've had come to us and say, I had no idea I've been constipated my entire life. I thought you were supposed to only poop once a week or once every other day, or every couple of days, I had no idea you were supposed to go one two times a day, three times a day. Sometimes if you're eating a lot of high plant high fiber foods, and it shouldn't be a 30 minute, one hour long session on the toilet. I mean, it really shouldn't. There should be no straining involved, I hate to get graphic. But these are things you need to know.

00:11:09.149 --> 00:11:10.919
Exactly. If you're hearing this,

00:11:11.039 --> 00:11:16.830
yeah, you absolutely need to know these things. Because this is crucial for your health.

00:11:13.440 --> 00:11:26.879
Because if the garbage doesn't move out, the garbage stays. And if the garbage stays, you're not getting the nutrients that you need flowing through you you're not, you're not able to function, right not getting

00:11:26.879 --> 00:11:33.419
rid of the waste, because there are some things that the fiber binds to. So it helps pull it out gets rid of it.

00:11:33.448 --> 00:12:00.629
And that leads to sickness, it leads to sickness, if that stuff is just sitting there, it is not good for you, but so not really need to get your fiber and the only way you get fiber, animal plants, animals, plants, animal plants, now that's a new thing an animal planet, actually was thinking animals that don't have fiber plants and somehow became animal plants. I have no idea. I think it's a little white, we don't usually take this. And so things turn into animal plain. You've

00:12:00.629 --> 00:12:23.070
heard it here, first guys. No, but back to the message at hand here to getting things flowing through will also help prevent colon cancer, it is known that when we don't have these regular bowel movements, the things remain in there, the toxins the waist, and then that can increase risk of colon cancer as well.

00:12:23.370 --> 00:12:29.639
And if things aren't moving through odds are you're not getting enough fiber again.

00:12:25.590 --> 00:13:03.240
So like 98% of people don't get enough fiber. Why? Because they're not eating enough plants, animal products, including meat and dairy, oil, none of those things have fiber, right. I didn't mean that was an animal product. But I'm just saying all of those things don't have fiber, only plants have fiber. So you need to get more plants in any way you can. Make sure you're getting your five foundational foods, go back and listen to the episode. On the five foundational foods, it's really really important to be getting those on a daily basis, because it will change the amount of times you have reflux.

00:12:59.669 --> 00:13:17.340
And again, it may even stop. So things you can do. Eat less fatty foods, get more, get more plants in your life on a daily basis and get a rainbow eat the rainbow in a lot of different colors on we're partial to the purples, purple slash red. Yeah, cuz most people don't get them.

00:13:17.519 --> 00:13:36.419
I mean, it's super important that in the greens of leafy greens and the cruciferous really important, and I didn't realize how many people don't eat beans on a daily basis. That kind of blew my mind because we've always seen a lot of beans. But now we staple here every day, sometimes more than one meal a day. And it's amazing how great they make you feel.

00:13:36.419 --> 00:13:39.570
It's super duper cheap.

00:13:36.419 --> 00:13:49.080
And this may shock you. And if it does, I'm glad we sometimes even eat beans for dessert. Oh, that's gonna blow your mind.

00:13:45.600 --> 00:13:51.509
We've got a recipe in our cookbook that is made with beans.

00:13:51.720 --> 00:14:05.159
We never know it now you never know. Now you can eat it with the spoon really, really good. All right, so we are talking about ways to help cure it right?

00:14:05.309 --> 00:14:11.009
That's right. Well, to prevent it, yeah, prevented by curing, yes, preventing it from even being a problem in the first place.

00:14:11.250 --> 00:14:50.129
Right? So eating less fats, right? Because that's gonna keep your esophageal sphincter strong. You want to limit your processed foods as well. That's the next thing. We said eat more plants also. But the next thing The third thing would be to limit processed foods. Why, again, we talked about this earlier, it's because they have a lot of oils and other things that can cause problems. I mean, a lot of times they hadn't added casein and things like that in there. And of course that's a protein or, you know, part of dairy But still, it's put in there and it seems like a lot of these things just start things that having all those additives and preservatives and natural, natural flavors. We've talked about those before.

00:14:50.759 --> 00:15:46.529
I think the process foods in this may be seeming a little it's not graphic, but I noticed that whenever I would eat a lot Processed foods and I would get the reflux, I would get some belching, and you would kind of taste it again, that's awful. But what that told me though, is that there are a lot of chemicals flavor chemicals in there that were still in my stomach, even for a period of time time, because the fats will also slow the emptying of your stomach. So things stay in there for hours. And that contributed to, I believe, the irritation that I was experiencing. Because when I eat whole plants, I don't ever have that even on the two times a year when I'm I may have a reflux, I don't get that belching and that nasty gas, I just get a little bit of discomfort and like you were saying before we can usually identify what it was. And it might be something like for me, I will use cacau quite a bit.

00:15:46.559 --> 00:15:54.210
And that is known to cause that sometimes. But for me, it's so rare that it's just going to happen. Okay, well,

00:15:54.629 --> 00:16:12.269
well and we also know one thing that you can do if you do get it and it's very rare. You can eat some fermented foods specifically for us, like one or two tablespoons of kimchi would just knock it out. And you would think kimchi being spicier. We don't buy the hot the mild kimchi, but we're not looking for the hot yet

00:16:12.299 --> 00:16:15.450
the heart level. Yeah, we got to work our way up to that.

00:16:15.960 --> 00:16:26.759
That's not my goal. That can be your goal. I'm good to go. But yeah, it's amazing, because you would think with it being a little spicier that it calms it down.

00:16:26.850 --> 00:17:08.549
I discovered this by accident, really before we even got into Whole Foods plant based living, because I was a PA at the time. But I remember hearing to the that the the quote unquote heartburn sometimes can be another term for dyspepsia where your stomach's not digesting properly, was that it could be that you don't have enough acid. And then I started thinking why I heard that over Korea A long time ago, they would make kimchi and use it as a digestive aid, they put a little bit on their plate with each meal. So I thought, okay, it's fermenting the bacteria in there, they're releasing digestive enzymes. Well, maybe that would help. So we had some and I had an

00:17:08.848 --> 00:17:11.999
episode, come up with that, that makes pregnant nice,

00:17:12.029 --> 00:17:24.450
took a couple bites. And I waited a couple minutes, I thought, whoa, wait a minute, my heartburn is getting a little better. So I tried it a few times just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. And then I remember telling you about it, and then you tried it,

00:17:24.480 --> 00:17:28.079
it freaks me out. And Wow, really fast that worked.

00:17:28.108 --> 00:17:35.939
Now, we're not advocating that you do this in place of making some of these better dietary changes. But if it happens, it's a good remedy.

00:17:32.608 --> 00:17:35.939
And then I remember your mother.

00:17:36.298 --> 00:17:41.699
So then we had a third person where she did the same thing it worked. And the same result it shocked her.

00:17:41.849 --> 00:17:58.049
So basically, what we're saying is eat your plants so that you don't get it. But if you get it eat your plants, that's basically what we just said, eat your plants, because that also helps to reverse it if you do get it. Anyway, the other thing, what will be beyond number four, eat smaller meals, smaller

00:17:58.049 --> 00:18:01.829
meals, right? If that's an issue with you, some people

00:18:01.859 --> 00:18:27.990
ate and we're going to be talking about the same. But this is just kind of a little glimpse into something we're going to be talking about later. But you know, we share with our clients and with our friends, that you we think about eating and eating till you're full and a lot of people eating in this with this lifestyle. They think you could just eat whatever you want and eat whatever amount you want.

00:18:24.359 --> 00:18:34.589
And that really is not true. And I'll leave it at that. Because we've got a lot more to say about that. We do really, but it's really an interesting topic. And I don't want to go into that here.

00:18:34.710 --> 00:18:51.809
But I feel like we are an all you can eat society. And that plays into it. So we'll do really well let that queue up a future podcast episode. Keep a lookout for it. But I think you'll you'll like it, you'll find it almost almost like a paradigm shift. Because it's a mindset shift. Yeah,

00:18:51.839 --> 00:19:35.069
it's a complete mindset shift. And it's very freeing. I think a lot of times when you can get your mindset, right. And that's why we teach mindset is one of the first things that we teach, because if you can't, if you don't have the right mindset, and your mindset has been set by past experience with diving and past experiences, we're trying to get healthy and those things that you've learned that are just wrong. If you can't get those things right, and get the freedom that comes from eating the right foods and having the right mindset and the understanding of what does it mean to be full? What does it mean to be hungry? And how are those two things different and are they really opposites? Or is that not true? different things like that, that we talked about that are critical. If you want to get healthy and stay healthy.

00:19:35.099 --> 00:19:37.769
your mindset determines what you do.

00:19:37.829 --> 00:19:39.480
Absolutely. Absolutely

00:19:39.630 --> 00:19:53.849
damning. It's the first step on the path or I should say, your mindset almost like a direction. And then when you start walking your path, then the direction determines where you're going to end up.

00:19:51.059 --> 00:19:53.849
Absolutely. Yeah. All right.

00:19:53.880 --> 00:19:57.329
Number five. Avoid perform a small fee small meals

00:19:57.329 --> 00:19:59.970
tight fitting clothes.

00:19:57.329 --> 00:20:07.230
Yes. Now a lot of people just cinch up a belt or they just wear tight clothes. And sometimes that's not good. And that can just cause it just physically.

00:20:07.259 --> 00:20:16.559
And it's the same thing as like with abdominal obesity is because if you send your clothes really tight, then that increases the pressure inside your belly, which could then push the food up. Well, I

00:20:16.559 --> 00:20:26.670
saw someone demo esophageal reflux, and they had a balloon on the end of a long tube. And in that balloon, he put some green liquid just to show it as a digestive juices.

00:20:26.880 --> 00:20:32.369
Yeah. And then they had a little, little piece of black tape at the bottom of the tube before it went to the balloon.

00:20:32.369 --> 00:20:38.609
And that was kind of the esophageal sphincter and so he would squeeze the balloon, like a belt or tie close word, right?

00:20:38.849 --> 00:20:45.630
And that that liquid will flash back up into the tube. So that was a really good demo.

00:20:45.960 --> 00:20:55.650
Hopefully, you can imagine that because seeing the actual video it was it was a very good demonstration. Very good visual. So hopefully you can visualize that in your mind.

00:20:55.680 --> 00:21:07.109
So wear looser clothing, you can try that. Also. And we kind of mentioned this before, but we didn't really go into it as much. But here we did say eat until you're no longer hungry.

00:21:07.410 --> 00:21:21.029
Okay, so here's a little bit more of inside of what we're going to be talking about just eat term no longer hungry because we as a society like to eat or overstaffed. You know, with all you can eat buffets.

00:21:17.130 --> 00:21:33.210
And we think we need to eat like every day is Thanksgiving, and we eat to a point of misery. And that really isn't healthy. But it's funny because when you eat this way, you get what we call food freedom, and food loses its hold on you. And we just don't we don't do that.

00:21:33.240 --> 00:21:35.130
We don't feel the need to do that.

00:21:35.160 --> 00:21:48.210
We don't. Yeah, there are a lot of mindset shifts related there. And we won't go into all that now. So next, just eat within three hours of bedtime, or drinking thing within about two hours of bedtime.

00:21:48.269 --> 00:21:49.859
So when your stomach stays empty,

00:21:49.890 --> 00:22:00.569
it's empty and you go to sleep better. Your body's not having to process all that food too. So you're gonna sleep better. And number eight, we've talked about this on a past episode. What episode number was that? Do

00:22:00.569 --> 00:22:04.019
you remember episode number? 85? Yeah, we just talked about that recently.

00:22:04.049 --> 00:22:11.819
Okay, so go back and listen to this breakfast like a king lunch like a prince dine like a pauper for dinner, right?

00:22:11.819 --> 00:22:17.759
Because this helps to prevent heartburn, and also helps with weight loss. So go back. And listen, it

00:22:17.759 --> 00:22:19.319
was a great episode.

00:22:17.759 --> 00:22:19.319
Actually, it

00:22:19.319 --> 00:22:32.849
was I enjoyed that. That was a lot of fun. Alright, so go back and listen to that we've given you at least eight things you can do to get to the root of the problem, the medicines aren't going to get to the root.

00:22:30.630 --> 00:22:57.150
And not only that, they can cause further issues. And if you don't get to the root and you start killing the acid, and now you've got the side effects of the medication, you've got no acid, they are very low acid. So you can't digest your fruit food properly. You can't get the you don't get the nutrients you need. You're not eating the right foods, you're not getting the fiber. And then you're not able to fight off infection because you're eating things that your body can't kill.

00:22:54.660 --> 00:22:57.150
Because the acids not there.

00:22:57.180 --> 00:22:58.470
It is a first line of defense.

00:22:58.500 --> 00:23:09.329
Yeah, so there's no, there's no, you're not getting the root of the problem. Like there's no fix here in the standard way of thinking.

00:23:07.140 --> 00:23:19.109
Because when we have a problem, what do we do? We think, well, what can I take what matters, I just gotta find the right medicine. I've just got to find the right doctor to prescribe the right medicine to. And again, we're not

00:23:19.619 --> 00:23:20.849
just thinking that we're not

00:23:20.849 --> 00:23:51.329
against medicine all the time. I mean, we're in the medical fields, you're in your VA chairs, the physician assistant in case you don't know. And I'm a registered nurse. And so these things we understand we get when there's a need for medicine, but our first go to a lot of times as a society is to think I need a medicine, I got to figure out what's going on with my body so I can get a medicine. But a lot of times you have so much more power if you just know exactly what to do and the steps to take to help you get some relief.

00:23:51.599 --> 00:23:55.049
Things like nobody ever told us.

00:23:51.599 --> 00:24:19.769
Well, if you to look kimchi, or you know, don't eat a lot of fats, particularly animal that can cause this and these things are linked with cancer. And we know that I mean, we have another episode where we talked about certain types of meats are known carcinogens, processed meats, I mean, they're known carcinogens. But we were eating healthier processed meats, no nitrates, no nitrites. No preservative added organic, thinking we were eating healthy.

00:24:20.039 --> 00:24:25.589
And we're eating things that are known to cause cancer was nobody talking about this. We have an episode

00:24:26.759 --> 00:24:33.869
55 where we talk about the types of proteins, meats versus plant proteins and the effects of those on the body.

00:24:34.079 --> 00:25:07.019
But that's not where we talked about the the meat that caused like processed meat causing cancer being a known carcinogen. What that episode number is, though, you have to get back and I figured out my homework, but that was a good one. We'll put the link down below in case you're interested in hearing that because that is something you really really need to know. But these are the things that light us up that we'd love to teach about because we know that these are the game changer. So these are the big shifts that can come for you when you know these things.

00:25:04.079 --> 00:25:12.779
Because you can only do Jarrod says this all the time, you can only do what you know. And you know what you know, and you don't know what you don't know.

00:25:12.809 --> 00:25:13.200
So

00:25:13.859 --> 00:25:16.470
don't know what you don't have the choice, right?

00:25:16.470 --> 00:25:23.970
That's what we want for you, we want you to be educated about these things, right? You at least have the choice, right can make informed decision. And we're

00:25:23.970 --> 00:25:36.329
not sitting here as judges, we do not do that to people, people come into our programs, and they just want to eat more plant foods and things like that. And they don't want to go to 100% yet, or, or ever.

00:25:32.130 --> 00:26:02.279
And that's not their goal. We're not here to judge people. We don't want to do that. We want everyone to have the information and have all that information that's there that people aren't talking about. They're not hearing about these things. And so that is what we want for you just to be empowered to be able to make the choice. Then once you have the information you can do that. We have loved hanging out with you again today.
